앨라배마 미식축구경기 관람기 in Tuscaloosa
4월 22일 토요일 앨라배마 Tuscaloosa Bryant denny 경기장에서 A-day가 있었다.
A-day란 뜨거운 여름이 오기 전 앨라배마 풋볼 경기팀의 마지막 점검을 위해 공개적으로 관객들에게 무료로 열리는 경기이다.
같은 팀을 두개로 쪼개어 경기하는데 하나는 크림슨 팀, 다른 하나는 화이트 팀으로
크림슨 팀에는 가장 뛰어난 공격수를, 화이트 팀에는 가장 뛰어난 수비수를 배치하고
2순위 수비수는 다시 크림슨 팀에, 2순위 공격수는 화이트팀에 배치하는 식으로 팀을 꾸린다.
A-day was held at Bryant-Denny stadium in Tuscaloosa on April 22nd.
Alabama A-day is the last spring practice and is open to the public for free.
They divide the team in two.
One is Crimson and one is White.
Crimson team has the best offense, while the best defense is in White team.
The second best defense goes to the crimson team,
The second best offense goes to the White team. etc.
경기가 열리는 Bryant-Denny 경기장은 앨라배마 대학교 안에 위치해 있어서
대학교 주차장에 주차를 하면 셔틀버스가 경기장 근처까지 태우러 온다.
주차장 2구역에 주차하고 셔틀버스 승강장으로 가는 중이다.
배차간격이 1분도 채 되지 않는 것처럼 보였다.
Bryant-denny stadium is located in Alabama university.
You park in the university's parking lot then shuttles come to get you.
We parked in stop 2.
The wait for the bus wasn't long.
미국에 오고나서 처음 타보는 버스였다.
버스 옆면에 보면 Crimson Ride라고 적혀있었다.
앨라배마 풋볼 팀은 Crimson Tide 라고도 불리는데 탑승한다란 의미로 Tide의 T만 R로 대체한 것. ㅎ
This was my very first time riding a bus in the States.
It said "Crimson Ride" on the bus, It was kind of funny.
Because alabama football team is called "Crimson Tide"
And the T was just replaced with R.
사실 이건 캠퍼스 셔틀버스라서 일반버스와는 다른 거지만, "버스"를 탔다는 데에 의의를 두고 싶다.
생각보다 너무 너무 깨끗하고 신식이어서 깜짝 놀랐다.
전면부분은 마치 한국 지하철 의자처럼 마주보고 앉는 형태고 뒷좌석은 일반 버스같이 되어 있다.
Actually this is not a normal bus but campus shuttle.
I just wanted to express I had ridden a "bus"
I got amazed by how modern and clean it was.
The front chairs looked like korean subway style.
The back chairs were like korean normal bus's chairs.
앨라배마 축구 광팬이신 시아빠와 함께 관람왔다.
항상 도움을 많이 주셔서 언젠가 뭔가 좋은 걸 해드리고 싶었는데,
마침 A-day를 함께 관람할 수 있어서 정말 좋았다!
My father-in-low is a big fan of football.
I wanted to do something for him someday since he helped us so many times.
I was so glad that we could watch this game together in person.
창문을 통해 바라본 앨라배마대학교 캠퍼스와 그 뒤에는 거대한 풋볼 경기장.
Bryant-Denny 경기장은 총 수용인원이 101,821명로써
미국에서는 7번째로 큰 경기장이자 세계에서 8번째로 큰 경기장이라고 한다.
This is the view of the campus and the stadium from the bus window.
The stadium can contain 101,821 people at the most.
It's the 7th biggest in American and 8th biggest in the world.
셔틀버스를 타고 3-4분 정도 지나 도착한 경기장 근처 캠퍼스 모습이다.
잔디 밭이 넓게 펼쳐져 있었고 텐트를 치고 캠핑하는 사람들이 꽤 있었다.
3-4 mins after riding the shuttle, we arrived at the campus nearby the stadium.
There was a good lawn and some people were camping there.
이건 앨라배마 대학교의 랜드마크인 것 같았던 Denny 종탑이다.
크기는 대략 35m로 꽤나 큰 탑이다.
This bell tower is named Denny Chimes looked like their centerpiece.
It's 115 feet tall.
내가 이 날 찍은 사진 중 가장 마음에 드는 사진.
의도한 건 아니었지만 시아빠 뒷모습과 손등에 별 타투가 마치 프로 여행자처럼 보인다. :D

He looked like a pro traveler with the cool star tattoo on the back of his hand.
나도 오랜만에 대학교 캠퍼스에 온 기념으로 셀카를 남겼다.
젊은 대학생들이 이렇게 넓은 대학교에서 수업받는 게 마냥 부럽게 느껴졌다.
I took this selfie with the bell tower too.
I envied of the college students in this huge campus.

경기장에 가는 길에 발견한 대형 코카콜라 모형!
아마 코카콜라에서도 이번 경기를 후원하는 것 같았다.
I found these huge Coca cola balloons on the way to the stadium.
I guess they sponsored this game.
앨라배마에 온 이후로 이렇게 많은 사람들은 한 공간에서 보는 건 정말 오랜만이지 싶다.
큰 경기장, 좋은 잔디밭, 빨간 유니폼을 입은 앨라배마 축구 팬들 덕분에 나도 엄청 들떴었다.
시아빠가 우리 부부 사진도 찍어주셨다.
It was the first time in a long time to see this many people since I moved to Alabama.
I was so excited about the huge stadium, great lawns, and fans in red.

경기장 앞에 유명한 코치들의 동상들이 세워져있었는데,
특히나 사람들이 이 동상과 사진찍기 위해 긴 줄을 서있었다.
동상 뒤 콘크리트 벽면을 보면 챔피언쉽에서 우승한 년도가 적혀있다.
이 사람은 바로 2007년부터 헤드 코치직을 맡은 Nick Saban이다.
There were statues of alabama football coaches.
Many people were waiting to take pictures with this statue.
You can see the years that each statue led the team to win behind their statues.
This one is Nick saban who has been a head coach for the team since 2007.
풋볼선수 동상 옆 계단에 앉아서 치킨으로 요기를 떼웠다.
Bojangles 치킨텐더는 처음 먹어보는데, 미국치킨치고 많이 안짜고 바삭하니 맛있었다.
We ate Bojangle's fried chicken sitting at the stairs by the football players statue.
I had never tried Bojangle's. It was pretty good.
경기 관련 홈페이지 UA game day에 들어가보면 시간대별로 일정이 자세히 나와있는데
12:50분에 선수들이 도착할 예정이었다.
관중들이 점점 많아지고 있었다.

The players were supposed to be here at 12:50.
The crowd was growing more and more.
기다림 끝에 만난 미식축구 선수들.
앨라배마주는 풋볼 팬들이 정말 정말 많고 진심으로 좋아하는 매니아 팬들이 많았다.
선수들이 하차하자 열렬하게 환호해었다.
We met the players after the long wait.
There were a lot of enthusiastic fans.
They encouraged them as soon as they got off the bus.
이후 게이트로 들어가는 사람들이 어마어마 했는데,
특히나 미국에서는 테러 방지를 위해 경기 관람 전 소지품 관련 규칙을 꼼꼼히 살펴봐야 한다.
가방의 크기 뿐만 아니라 투명한 숄더백만 되고 카메라 렌즈의 크기까지 명시해있으니 잘 지켜야 한다.
우리 줄 앞에서 일반 핸드백을 가지고 온 분들은 입장을 제지당했다.
We went through the gate 4.
You really need to know the rules about belongings thoroughly before the game.
The rules are very strict, such as clear bags only.
Some ladies with normal handbags couldn't get into the gate.
이미 사람들이 좋은 자리에 착석한 상태였다. T-T
The best seats were already taken.
다수의 챔피언쉽 우승을 거머줘 영웅급의 코치인 Nick saban이 파란 자켓을 입고 입장했다.
The heroic head coach Nick saban was entering into the stadium in a blue jacket.
선수들이 입장해 열을 맞춰 몸풀기를 하고 있는 모습이다.
The players were warming up in rows.
앨라배마 풋볼경기는 이날 가장 유명한 스포츠채널인 ESPN에서 생중계되었다.
그래서인지 헬리콥터가 하늘에서 계속 왔다리 갔다리 했다.
This game was being broadcast by ESPN which is the most famous sports channel.
It seemed like the helicopter was filming.
남편의 아련한 셀카...☆★
날씨를 보면 알겠지만 이날 햇빛 정말 최고였다.
직사광선이 온몸에 내리쬐고 있는 느낌.
My husband's sentimental selfie.
As you can see the sky, It was super super sunny.
I was sitting in direct sunlight.
시아빠와 함께 사진도 하나 남겼는데
내가 실수로 렌즈를 건들였는지 하필 이 중요한 사진이 흐리게 나와서 속상하다.
아무리 선명도를 높혀도 고쳐지지가 않는다.
We took the pictures with my father-in-law.
I was disappointed that it turned out to be so foggy.
I think I touched the lens. I can't even make this look any better with Photoshop.

앨라배마 주는 현대, 기아와 같은 한국 자동차기업들의 현지공장들이 있는 곳이기도 하다.
This is Korean company Kia's advertisement.
Korean car companies such as Kia and Hyundai have factories in Alabama.
각 경기마다 프로 선수가 된 선배 선수들의 인터뷰가 있었다.
인터뷰어가 관중들에게 마지막으로 할 말 물어보면 꼭 롤타이드라고 외쳐준다 ㅋㅋ
There were interviews with Pro football players each break time.
Every time the players finished their interviews by saying "Roll tide".
터치다운 이후에 풋볼을 골대 안으로 차는 선수의 모습.
They kick a football to the field goal post after a touch-down.
경기를 마치고 나오는 길에 시아빠와 찍은 사진이다.
바닥에 보면 챔피언쉽과 유명한 챔피언들의 연혁이 적혀있는데,
(시동생의 티셔츠를 빌려입은)
내 티셔츠가 의미하는 12번의 선수는 Joe Namath의 숫자라고 시아빠가 알려주셨다.
These pictures were taken after the game.
You can see the history of championship on the ground.
My father-in-law told me that
the 12 in the T-shirt (which is my sister in law's T-shirt) represents Joe Namath.
아참, 이날 경기는 크림슨팀이 27, 화이트팀이 24점을 득점했다.
By the way Crimson team won against White team, 27 to 24.
차로 2시간 30분의 거리로 가까운 곳은 아니었지만
처음으로 시아빠와 우리 부부가 함께 추억을 만든 날이었다.
미국 풋볼을 이렇게 큰 경기장에서 관람해본 후,
앨라배마에게 미국축구란 정말 큰 의미라는 것도 알게 되었다.
It took 2 and half hours to get to the Tuscaloosa,
It was first time that we did something good with my father-in-law.
I found out what football meant to Alabama fans.
