캐시디가 사준 맥날 아이스크림 / 시엄마가 사준 크리스탈 미니버거

제트스키타고 돌아온 다음 날 아침, 시엄마 시동생 그리고 나 여자 셋만 바바라(시엄마 이모) 농장으로 떠났다.

가는 길에 맥도날드 아이스크림이랑 크리스탈 햄버거 먹어서 이미 배가 불러버렸음;

The day after jet skiing, my mother in law, sister in law, and me headed to Barbara's farm.

On the way, I ate Mcdonald's ice cream and Krystal's mini burger and got full...

조지아에 살고 계셔서 2시간? 정도 운전해서 도착했는데, 뭔가 비밀의 정원에 온 것 처럼 아주 고요한 세상이 펼쳐졌다.

Barbara lives in Georgia, so we drove for about 2 hours?

When we got there, it was so peaceful that I almost felt like being in a different world.

점심으로 준비해주신 햄버거를 먹고 바로 정원 투어에 나섰다. She prepared hamburgers for us. After lunch she showed around her garden.

예쁜 꽃들이 만개해있었다.

Pretty flowers were fully bloomed.

태어나서 이렇게 귀엽게 생긴 닭은 처음 봤다. 

얘네는 Feathered leg chicken 인데, 말 그대로 털 부츠를 신은 것 처럼 다리에도 털이 있다.

I had never seen these cute chickens before.

They are called Feathered leg chicken and they literally have feathers on their legs.

바바라 농장에는 연못도 있어서 그 주변으로 진짜 작은 개구리들이랑 잠자리들이 많이 있었다.

사실 연못에 물고기가 살고 있을 거란 기대는 안했는데,

There was a pond and there were little frogs and many dragon flies.

I didn't expect fish in the pond...

바바라가 식빵 던져주니 순식간에 뻐끔뻐끔대면서 먹어 치우는 게 아주 인상깊었다;;; 

새끼 메기들이라는데 엄청 작아서 신기했다.

When Barbara threw out bread, suddenly a school of fish gathered around the bread.

They are baby catfish and took big bites!!

포도나무도 직접 보는 건 처음이라서 마냥 신기했다.

It was my first time to see grape vines too.

거대한 양배추

Humongous cabbage.

왼쪽은 콩이고 오른쪽은 오이를 키우고 계셨다.

From the left to right, beans and cucumbers.

곳곳에 키가 엄청 큰 해바라기가 수호천사처럼 지키고 있다.

Each section there was a tall sunflower like a guardian angel.

아시안 릴리, Asian Lily

언덕 위에는 이끼로 덮여있는데, 러그마냥 완전 푹신푹신하다. 대왕버섯도 있었다.

The hill behind her house was covered with moss. It felt fluffy like a rug!! 

There was a big mushroom there as well.

Fig 라고 해서, 안먹어봤다고 했는데.. 한국말로 찾아보니 무화과잖아; ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

My mom in law asked me if I had had figs before -_-a

I had no idea what figs were and I hadn't seen fig trees before.

So I answered "no". 

I looked up figs, and it turned out to be 무화과 , which I already ate before =_=

Sometimes miscommunication happens because of my English lol.

I'm still learning English names and matching english and korean words....

바바라 강아지 엄청 순해서 한번도 안 짖고 쫄래쫄래 따라다님 ㅎㅎ

Babara's dog was so quiet and it kept following us without barking.

이름 모를 핑크 꽃 나무

Pink flower tree.

수국, 참나리와 복숭아 나무.

복숭아는 아직 익지 않아서 못 먹어 봤다.

Hydrangea, tiger lily and peach tree.

the peaches weren't ripe yet. 

새들이 블루베리 열매 따먹어서 봉지를 씌워놓으셨다.

She covered blueberries with sacks to keep them from birds.

She also had many green onions.

메리골드는 병해충 예방에 좋다고 한다. 그래서 바바라는 텃밭 중간 중간에 메리골드를 심어놓았다. 삶에서 나오는 지혜!!

She planted mery gold between crops. It helps to protect crops from bugs. How wise :D

마지막으로, 정원을 지키는 허수아비.

사슴이 출몰하여 총을 가지고 있는 사람 모양으로 만들어 놓으셨다는데,

이것도 한국에서는 절대 볼 수 없는 허수아비다. 

우린 총기허용이 되지 않으니깐 총 가지고 있는 허수아비를 한국에서 볼 확률은 0%..

Lastly, this is a scarecrow.

Sometimes deer come up to her farm, so she set this up.

You can't find scarecrows like this one in Korea.

Koreans aren't allowed to own guns.

So we don't even think of a scarecrow with a gun lol.

뒷마당 작은 텃밭을 관리해오다가 이렇게 넓은 땅에 심어져 있는 갖가지 작물과 나무를 보니

나도 나중에 내 집을 마련하면 이 정도는 아니어도 시댁 식구들이랑 충분히 나눠 먹을만큼의 유기농 채소를 재배해보고 싶단 생각이 들었다.

I just manage a small backyard container garden, so after I looked around her garden,

I wanted to have a bigger garden to plant enough organic crops for Skylar's family when I have a house.
