금요일 외식은 파파두비에서

같은 회사에서 일하는 장점 중 하나가 점심을 같이 먹을 수 있다는 거다. 날씨가 화창한 금요일이어서 우리가 예전부터 가보고 싶었던 케이준 식당 파파두비에 가보기로 급 결정했다. 차로 그리 멀지 않은 곳 알디 맞은 편에 위치한 파파두비로 고고고

One of good things working at the same company with my husband is that we can have lunch together. The weather was so nice that we decided to try Papa Dubi's food! The restaurant is not very far from work!

날씨 화창하고 공기도 상쾌하고 기온도 따뜻한 알라바마의 4월 날씨!!

Air is so fresh and the temperature is warm. This is Alabama's April!!

우리가 파파두비에 도착했을 때는 11시 딱 넘어서였는데 그래서인지 사람이 아직은 그리 북적이진 않았다.

When we got there, it was right after 11 AM. So there weren't not many people in the restaurant.

사실 뭐를 딱 먹어야겠다는 생각은 안하고 온거라서 그냥 점심 메뉴를 시도해보기로 했다. 남편은 튀긴 메기 나는 오븐에 구운 메기를 주문했다. (메기라고 한국어로 적으니까 괜히 부담스럽게 들린다.) 메기는 해산물을 잘 먹지 않는 이 동네에서도 주로 먹는 생선 종류다.

We didn't think about what to eat so we just ordered lunch menus. Skylar ordered a fried catfish and I got a grilled catfish.

아무 자리에 앉으라고 해서 가장자리에 있는 테이블에 앉았는데 벤치에서 자꾸 삐걱거리고 쿠션이 엄청 움직였다. ㅋㅋ

The server told us to sit wherever we want, so we sat at a table at the end. The cushion of the bench flipped over when we sat on the front part lol. Very wabbly.

서버가 사이드 디쉬로 주문했던 거를 에피타이저로 먼저 먹고 싶냐해서 그렇다고 했다.

The Server asked us if we want to eat one of the side dishes as appetizer. So we said yes!

내 에피타이저는 검보였다. 내가 제일 좋아하는 음식 중 하나인 잠발라야랑 아주 비슷한 검보. 새우가 많이 들어있었고 좀 짠맛이 강해서 그저 그랬다. ㅠㅠ 같이 나온 에이스맛 크래커를 소스에 살짝 담궈먹으면 더 맛있긴 했다.

My appetizer was gumbo. It's very similar to my favorite food, Jambalaya. It had lots of shrimps in it and it tasted salty. It was better when I dipped the crackers into the soup.

이건 내가 주문한 오븐 구이 메기! 내가 Substitute 란 뜻이 뭔지 몰라서 같이 서빙되는 코울슬로, 허쉬퍼피, 프라이 중 하나 중 검보와 바꾸는 거였는데 검보랑 같이 먹고 싶은 걸 고르는 줄 알고 코울슬로라고 해서 ㅡㅡ 내가 싫어하는 허쉬퍼피가 나왔다. 허쉬퍼피(동그란 모양 튀긴 음식)가 왜 싫냐면 너무 텁텁하다. 빵가루 뭉쳐서 그걸 튀긴 것 같아서 헛배부르게 하는 맛이라 싫다 ㅠ

This was my main dish, grilled catfish. I didn't know what 'substitute' meant, so I misunderstood the meaning for that I want something to be served with gumbo. So I chose coleslaw among fries, hush puppies and coleslaw -_-..... I hate hush puppies. The reason why I don't like them is it makes me so full without having not much flavor but just bunch of fried flour.

이 날 나는 깨달았다. 아 나는 메기 싫어하는구나.... ㅎ 오븐구이나 튀긴 메기나 메기 특유의 향이 느껴졌다. 뭐라 설명하기 어려운데 약간 수돗물맛 비린내라고 해야하나. 그래두 아까워서 생선은 다 먹었는데도 양이 저렇게나 많이 남았다. 그리고 핫소스도 물을 탄건지 내가 뿌렸을 때 물과 소스가 약간 분리돼서 쏟아져 나와서 좀...그랬다...

I realized that I hate catfish. lol. I could taste it's own taste. It's hard to describe the flavor. It tasted sort of like tap water. I didn't want to waste it so I did finish the catfish but there was still a lot of food left. Their hot sauce was like two-layered. Water and real sauce part weren't mixed well so when I poured some hot sauce, bunch of watery hot sauce came out ...... =_=

우리가 다 먹어갈 때쯤 엄청난 인파가 몰려들었다. 나한테는 별로였던 맛이었지만 이 지역에서 인기있는 식당 중 하나이다.

By the time when we finished, the restaurant got so crowded. I didn't like their catfish very much. But the restaurant is one of popular restaurants near here.
