뉴욕 파스타 맛집 Olio e Piu

Olio e Piú @ Washington Square Park

버스를 타고 워싱턴스퀘어 파크 근처에서 하차했다.

We got off the bus near Washington Square Park.

맛있는 냄새가 나서 주변을 돌아보니 많은 푸드트럭들이 모여있는 모양새가 주말 벼룩시장이 열린 듯 했다.

It smelled so good and there were many food trucks! I think it was a flea market on a weekend.

어쩌다보니 작년에 이어 또 한번 들르게 된 워싱턴 스퀘어 파크.

We happened to end up being at Washington Square Park for two years in a row.

같은 장소인데 다른 시간과 다른 사람들과 함께 있으니 또 다른 그림이다.

It was the same place but with different people and different time.

워싱턴 스퀘어 파크에 있던 작년의 우리 모습과 올해 모습은 또 얼마나 달랐을까?

뉴욕에서 종종 비둘기 밥 주시는 분들을 종종 마주쳤는데 정말이지 난 새가 싫다. ㅠㅠ

We just happened upon pigeon people sometimes in NYC, and I hate pigeons.... 

아름답지만 가끔 고약한 냄새가 났던 그리니치 빌리지를 지나서

드디어 우리가 점심을 해결할 올리오 에 피우에 도착했다.

to Olio e Piu for lunch!

바깥엔 공사가 한창인데다 오픈시간이 막 지나서인지 평소보다 적은 사람들이 있어 우리는 식당 안쪽에 앉고 싶다고 했더니 나름 바깥이 잘 보이는 테이블로 안내해주셔서 좋았다.

There was a construction outside so we asked for an indoor table. They let us sit at a table close to outside.

이탈리안 음식에 무지한 남편은 옐프를 급 뒤져 인기있는 메뉴가 뭔지 찾아봤다. ㅋㅋ

Sklyar wasn't familiar with Italian food so he looked up their popular dishes on Yelp.

올리브 오일이 뿌려진 식전빵과 생 올리브와 고기가 들어가 흡사 동그랑땡 맛이 났던 토마토가 에피타이저로 나왔다. 나는 빵을 다 먹었고 남편은 생 올리브가 신기하다며 먹었다. ㅋㅋ

They served bread with olive oil, fresh olives and stuffed tomatoes. He never saw fresh olives before so he was very interested and finished them.

내가 주문한 해산물 파스타. 파스타 중에 가장 가격이 비싼 걸로 기억했지만 여기까지 와서 가격 고민하기 싫어서 내가 먹고 싶은 것을 주문했다. 왜냐면 미국 남부에서 스파게티하면 다진 고기 들어간 토마토 스파게티가 전부라 이런 종류의 파스타가 얼마나 그리웠는지..

This is my seafood pasta. As far as I remember, this was the most pricey pasta among their pastas. Rather than worrying about price, I just got what I wanted. I missed this kind of pasta so much!! Because you only get to eat tomato spaghetti with ground beef in the south. 

옐프를 보더니 결국 선택한 건 뽀모도로. ㅋㅋ 나와 남편은 치즈를 위에 뿌려달라고 했다. 사실 남편은 서버 분께 까르보나라가 뭐냐고 물어봤는데 그 서버분이 "이탈리안식 전통 "진짜" 까르보나라 입니다."라고 해서 남편은 어리둥절했더랬지. 요즘엔 까르보나라가 크림파스타로 변형되었는데 실은 광부들이 고칼로리 음식으로 먹던 크림없이 계란을 이용한 전통 까르보나라라는 의미라고 알려주었다.

Skylar decided to try Pomodoro after looking at Yelp. Skylar and I asked them to spread cheese on top. My husband asked the server what Carbonara was like? and she said "it's classic Italian Carbonara." and it just confused him more. I explained him that now carbonara has become a cream pasta but it was used to be dry cheesy pasta with egg for miners.

내 파스타에는 해산물이 든든하게 들어갔다. 문어, 새우, 삶은 감자와 먹물 파스타가 잘 어울러져서 오랜만에 내가 원하는 종류의 파스타를 먹어서 행복했다. 맛도 좋아서 뉴욕을 여행하는 누구에게든 추천하고 싶은 곳!

My dish had a lot of seafood such as chopped octopus, shrimp and even baked potatoes! They went well. I was so happy to eat a pasta that I missed for a while. It was tasty and I would recommend this place to any travelers in NYC.

남편도 뽀모도로 맛있었다며 좋아했다. 심지어 포만감도 거의 하루 종일 가다시피 했다.

Skylar liked this pasta too. It kept us full for most of the day.
