우리 숙소인 옴니버크셔 호텔에서도 그리 멀지 않은 쉽 매도우에 가보기로 했다. 매도우란 숲 안의 펼쳐진 광장이란 의미다. 뉴요커들이 가족 단위로 와 피크닉을 즐기는 장소인 것 같았다. 

We checked out sheep meadow which wasn't far from our hotel. It seemed like locals come to this meadow to rest & play with their children.

우린 따로 피크닉 매트를 준비해오진 않았지만 대충 자리를 잡고 앉아보기로 했다.

We didn't bring a mat to sit on, but we just picked some spot and sat there for a few minutes.

센트럴파크에 오기 전 포케인이라는 하와이언음식인 포케를 만드는 곳에 들러 테이크아웃을 해왔다.

We stopped by a Poke restaurant. Poke is Hawaiian food. I got one to go.

마치 미국의 서브웨이처럼 넣고 싶은 재료를 고르면 점원이 재료를 잘 섞어서 내가 요청했던 부리토 형태로 말아주셨다. 나에게는 김밥과 스시의 그 중간 어디쯤처럼 보이는 음식이었다. 기대를 너무 많이 해서인지 엄청 특별한 맛은 아니고 예상가능한 맛인데다가 소스 때문에 김이 약간 눅눅해진 상태였지만 간편하고 가볍게 먹기 좋은 음식이어서 내가 사는 미국 남부 알라바마에도 있다면 얼마나 좋을까 생각해봤다.

That place was like Subway. I pick every ingredient I want and they mixed them well and warped them well like a burrito. To me it looked like somewhere between Gimbap and Sushi. It wasn't better than I expected but it was very convenient healthy and fast food. I wished I could get this food in Alabama as well. (I know it wouldn't happen while I live here. Southerners don't like this kind of food. :( ) 

노을이 지기 전까지 앉아서 경치를 감상하다 그 근처 콜롬버스 써클로 이동했다.

We sat there till the sun was going down and left for Columbus Circle.

버스를 타고 두세정거장 가니 나타난 콜롬버스 서클.

It was only a couple of stops away by bus.

석양이 저물어갈때쯤 도착했더니 분위기 있어보였다.

It looked beautiful during sunset.

주변에 큰 쇼핑몰이 있어서 들어가보면 더 좋았을 걸 그땐 다리가 왜이렇게 아팠는지..

I wish I went into the shopping center while we were there. My feet hurt too bad at that time.

분수와 잠시 쉬어가는 사람들 사진을 찍다보니 어느새 하늘이 불그스름해졌다.

The sky turned pink after we took some photos.

엄청나게 특별하게 볼 것이 있는 곳은 아니지만 그 특유의 분위기가 멋졌던 콜롬버스 써클.

It wasn't a very special place, but it had a good atmosphere.
