수선화 & 무스카리 구근 심기
월마트 가드닝코너에 갔다가 구근식물들을 팔고있길래 봤더니 가을에 심으면 내년 봄에 볼 수 있다고 해서 무스카리랑 따제따 흰색 수선화 종류인 페퍼화이트 지바를 구입했다.
At Walmart, bulbs were on sale. It said they will bloom in spring if you plant them this fall. I bought Paperwhite Ziva -daffodils- and muscari bulbs.
플라스틱 모종삽은 단돈 50센트였고 옆에 곡괭이는 금속 재질이어서 2.5달러를 주고 구입했다.
This plastic trowel was only 50 cents and the hand rake was made of steel, so it was for 2.5 dollars.
어디에 구근작물들을 심을까 하다가 현관 옆에 화단이 있는데 비올 때마다 물이 거기 고여서 항상 맨 흙이 드러나는 곳이 있는데 거기다가 심어보기로 했다. 식물들한테는 제일 안좋은 자리일진 몰라도 내 잔디밭을 굳이 파헤치기는 싫었다. ㅋㅋ
I couldn't think of a good place to plant them. Only spot I thought of was actually the worst spot for plants. There are some empty spots where mulches were moved away by rain. I knew this was not a good place to plant the bulbs but I didn't want to dig my lawns.
물이 자주 고여서 땅이 무를 거라고 생각했던 것과는 달리 꽤 단단해서 힘을 줘서 흙을 갈아줘야 했다. 그래도 깊게 파지는 못했다.
Since there were always puddles there, I thought it would be muddy and soft. But It was harder than I thought it would be. I had to rake it so hard and couldn't even dig it very deep.
무스카리 구근은 수선화 구근에 비해서 아주 아담했는데 검색해보니 무스카리는 지금 심으면 이파리까지 나서 그대로 겨울을 보낸다고 하고 수선화는 겨우내 뿌리만 자라고 줄기는 볼 수 없다고 한다.
Muscari bulbs were smaller than the daffodils. I looked up muscari. They grow and make some stems and leaves after planted, and stay like that over winter while daffodils only root under ground.
따제따 수선화는 일반 수선화는 아니고 한 줄기에 꽃이 여러개 피는 미니 수선화인데 또 하얀 수선화라서 호기심이 생겨 구입하게 되었다.
Paperwhite has multiple flowers for one stem. That kind of daffodils are called Tazetta. I liked that this daffodils are white flowers too.
마치 양파를 캐는 것 같았던 구근 식물 심기.. 흙을 다시 위에 살포시 얹어주었다.
I almost looked like harvesting onions. I gently covered them with soil on top.
이사 온 지 드디어 처음으로 화단에 식물을 심어본 순간!! 잘 자라줬으면 좋겠다. 내년 봄에 보자!!
