　　마지막 여행지로 고른 곳은 스위스 도시 루체른. 우리가 취리히 공항에서 떠날 예정이라 그 곳과 가까운 곳 기준으로 선정했기 때문이다. 스위스 수도 베른에 이어 우리의 두번째 스위스 도시 여행지였던 루체른.

　　We chose Lucerne as our last destination of Swiss travel. We were leaving from Zurich airport. Lucerne was quite close from Zurich.

아메론 플로라 호텔 Ameron Hotel Flora Lucerne

루체른 기차역에서 Welcome to Lucerne

루체른 기차역은 역시나 대도시답게 무척이나 컸다. 기차역에서 어떻게 나오는지 헤매이다 결국 빠져나와 우리가 묵을 호텔로 걸어가기로 했다.

Lucerne station was big. It took us a few minutes to find the exit. We walked to our hotel.

우리의 루체른 호텔 아메론 플로라 Lucern Hotel

기차역에서 도보로 5분도 채 안 걸려 도착한 아메론 플로라 호텔. 루체른에서의 마지막 날은 편안하게 도시를 둘러볼 예정이었기 때문에 가까운 곳으로 숙소를 정했다.

Our hotel was only 5 minutes away from the station by foot. I chose this hotel because from this hotel main tourist attractions were within walking distance.

아직 체크인 시간이 덜 되어 우리 짐을 카운터에 맡기고 나중에 호텔로 돌아오기로 했는데, 이 때 카운터에서 와이파이 번호를 알려줬는데 루체른 시내 공용 와이파이라고 해서 놀라웠다. 호텔 안 뿐만 아니라 밖에 나가 걸어다닐 때에도 와이파이를 사용할 수 있었던 것.

We arrived at the hotel before the check-in time (at 3 P.M.) They took our suitcases at the check-in desk. They gave us wifi password. The wifi was not only for the hotel but for the whole downtown. So even when we were out of the hotel, we could still use the free wifi in Lucerne.

스탠다드 더블룸 Standard Double Room

체크인 시간이 거진 다 되어 호텔로 돌아와 우리 방으로 향했다. 아메론플로라 호텔은 루체른에서 가장 유명한 카펠교와 엎어지면 코 닿을 거리에 있다. 그래서인지 아름다운 도시 경관을 헤치지 않기 위해 건물 층수에 제한이 있는 것 같았다. 아메론 플로라 호텔은 겨우 6층인가 밖에 되지 않았다. 우리가 배정받은 방도 3층이었고, 뷰는 전혀 없었음. ㅋㅋ

We came back to the hotel after 3 P.M. This hotel is right near the famous wooden bridge -Chapel Bridge. It looked like the city has a floor limit. This hotel had only 6 floors. Our room was on the third floor and there was no view from our room lol.

스탠다드 더블룸은 아담한 방인만큼 화장실도 작았다. 그러나 호텔 가격대/청결도/위치를 고려한다면 꽤나 괜찮았던 숙소.

Our room was a standard double room. This is how small the bathroom and the room itself were. But it is pretty decent size for 4 star hotel in such nice location.

백조와 하트 Swans & Heart

신혼여행이라고 메모를 남겼더니 수건과 이불로 백조와 하트를 만들어주셨다. 스카일러가 은근 좋아했음...ㅋㅋ 우리는 다음 날 조식도 이용했다. 루체른 여행을 고려하고 있다면, 아메론 플로라 호텔을 추천한다. 루체른 역에서도 정말 가깝고, 조식도 괜찮았던데다가 가격대도 합리적이었기 때문.

I left a note that we were on honeymoon. This hotel was so sweet that they made swans of towels and heart of comforter. Skylar seemed to like that. We had breakfast next morning at this hotel. If you are planning to travel to Lucerne, I recommend this hotel. It's close from the train station, clean & nice room, breakfast available and the price was reasonable.

카펠교 Chapel Bridge

천장의 삼각형 모양의 그림들 Old paintings in triangle on ceiling

루체른의 랜드마크인 카펠교를 걸었다. 카펠교는 로이스강을 가로지르는 보행자 전용 다리이다. 카펠교를 특별하게 만드는 건 바로 지붕 아래 삼각형 모양의 17세기의 다양한 그림들이다. 대부분의 그림은 1993년 대형 화재로 소실되었지만, 복원 작업을 거쳐 아직도 그림을 감상할 수 있지만 몇몇 그림은 공란으로 남아져 있는 상태이다.

We headed to the Chapel Bridge. Chapel bridge is a footbridge across the river Reuss. The 17 century paintings in triangle right underneath the roof make this wooden bridge more special. Most of them were destroyed by the 1993 fire. Some of them were restored but some are still missing and that spots are empty.

유럽에서 가장 오래된 목조 다리이자, 전세계에서 남아있는 트러스구조의 다리 중 가장 오래되었다고 한다.

Chapel bridge is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe as well as the world's oldest surviving truss bridge.

카펠교 중간 중간 상점을 만날 수 있는데, 그 중 한 곳에서 기념품을 샀다. 특히 주말에 루체른을 갈 여행자들은 상점 시간을 꼭 확인하셔야 하는데 우리가 루체른에 있던 일요일은 하루종일 거의 모든 상점이 운영을 하지 않아서 기념품 사기도 여간 쉽지 않았다. 다행이 카펠교는 워낙 관광객에게 인기가 있는 덕분인지, 기념품을 구입할 수 있어서 다행이었다.

There are a few small shops on this bridge. We got to buy some souvenir from one of the stores. You should check out stores' business time in Lucerne if you are going to be there on a weekend. Specially on Sunday when we were in Lucerne, only a few stores were open. Luckily the stores in this bridge were open probably because the bridge was popular with travelers.

대부분 상점들이 닫혀있던 일요일 Closed Shops on Sunday

카펠교를 지나오면 상점들이 가득한 거리가 나오는데 일요일이라 다 닫혀있었던 게 너무나도 아쉬웠다. 그래도 식당 만큼은 열린 곳이 몇 몇 있었는데 저녁 시간이 거의 다 되어 허기가 진 나는 발길이 닿는 식당에 가보기로 했다.

There is a shopping district over the bridge. All the stores were closed on Sunday. Some restaurants were still open. I was getting hungry. We were going to choose one of open restaurants without googling.

외관이 멋졌던 스위스 전통 음식점 Swiss Restaurant

스위스 전통 치즈 퐁듀를 도전해보고 싶었던 스카일러에게 내가 누누이 스카일러가 좋아할 음식이 아니라고 말해줘도 듣지 않더니, 스위스 퐁듀 식당 앞을 지나가보고는 절대 안되겠다고 스스로 깨달았던 스카일러. 돈 낭비 안해서 참 다행이었던.... 현지 음식을 체험해보는 것도 좋지만, 그게 안맞을 거라는 걸 아는데, 굳이 꾸역꾸역 시도해 볼 필요는 없다는 주의다.

Skylar wanted to try traditional Swiss fondue so bad. I tried to tell him that he wouldn't like it at all. He realized he didn't want to try it any more when he walked by a fondue place. I was glad we didn't waste money. It's nice to try authentic dishes but sometimes you need to know whether that's kind of a dish you will like or not.

몇 블럭 더 가서 겨우 이탈리안 레스토랑을 하나 찾아내고는 한번 시도해보자고 했다. 일요일에 열린 상점이 손에 꼽을 정도여서 무지 깐깐하게 고를 형편이 아니었다. 파스타 맛이 얼마나 이상하면 이상하겠냐면서 들어왔는데, 여기 파스타 생각 이상으로 진짜 맛있었다.

We passed a couple of more blocks. Finally we saw this Italian restaurant that was open. We knew spaghetti couldn't be the worst dish for us. But actually the food here was more than our expectations.

스위스 음식 맛 없다고들 그러던데 스위스 "전통" 음식이 맛이 없다고 하는 것이었을까? 스위스식 이탈리안 음식은 거진 다 성공이었다. 특히 이 봉골레 파스타 맛은 정말 너무 맛있어서 깜짝 놀랐다. 스카일러의 토마토 스파게티도 본인이 굉장히 만족해하며, 하더클룸의 토마토 스파게티보다 훨씬 맛있다고까지 했다. ㅋㅋ

People say Swiss dishes are not tasty. It made me wonder if the Swiss dishes meant only traditional Swiss dishes or all the dishes made in Switzerland. Because the Swiss-Italian dishes we had in Switzerland were all surprisingly good. Skylar was very happy with his spaghetti. So was I. I really liked my vongole pasta.

식당 들어오기 전까지 배도 별로 안 고프다고 한 스카일러는 피자까지 야무지게 시켜서 다 먹었다고 한다.

Skylar told me he was not hungry as he walked in this restaurant. Later, he ordered a pizza and ate it all.

다시 카펠교 Back to Chapel Bridge

루체른에 토요일에만 왔어도 이 곳에서 쇼핑하며 시간을 보냈을텐데, 일요일에 거의 다 닫혀있을 거란 생각을 못해서 운영시간도 찾아보지도 않았던 것이 아직도 너무 아쉽다.

It was a shame we couldn't shop at all. We could have enjoyed shopping in this area if we were here a day earlier. We didn't imagine all the shops would be closed on Sunday.

바로 다음 날 아침 출발하는 비행기라 루체른에서의 일정은 넉넉하게 잡았다. 시간에 쫓기지 않고 뭘 해야한다는 부담감도 없이, 쉬어가는 일정으로서의 여행지였던 루체른. 도시 주변 풍경도 평화로워 스위스 여행의 마무리를 짓기에는 더할 나위 없는 곳이었다.

We didn't plan much to do in Lucerne because next morning we were heading back to America. The purpose of the day was more like to chill out. It was the right decision.
