코로나 대비(?) 미국 마트 퍼블릭스에서 장보기 Grocery Shopping at Publix in Alabama

지금 현재 글쓰는 기준으로 앨라배마 빼고 주변 주들은 다 코로나 확진자가 나왔다. (오늘 기준 3/13 앨라배마 몽고메리 카운티에서 첫 코로나 확진자가 나왔다. 어제 장을 봐온게 얼마나 다행인지...^^;) 그래서인지 이 곳 내가 사는 곳에도 긴장감이 흐르는 거 같았다. 퇴근하자마자 근처 식료품점인 퍼블릭스로 향했다. 약간 이 분위기에 동요돼서 나도 뭔가 좀 쟁여놔야할 것 같은 기분이었다.
At this point, Alabama is the only state with no confirmed coronavirus in southeast. *Update- there was one confirmed case in Alabama today. I am glad that we went to grocery shopping a day before. I can feel it is getting intense. Skylar and I headed to this grocery store right after work. I felt like we should get groceries asap.

 

분홍 색종이로 접은 것 같은 캄파눌라 꽃

 

걱정보다 한산하고 평화로웠던 퍼블릭스. 항상 꽃 섹션이 입구에 있어서 구경하는데 내가 개인적으로 좋아하는 꽃인 캄파눌라가 보였다. 꽃다발에 있는 건 처음본다. ☺️
There were less people than I thought there would be at Publix. I really like this pink flower Campanula, and this was my first time seeing it in bouquets here.

 

 

그 다음 치킨텐더도 구입하고 과일 야채코너에서도 필요한 것을 샀다. 모든게 다 재고가 넉넉해서 생각보다 뭐 괜찮네 싶었다 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 이 코너를 보기 까지는....
We bought some chicken tenders and vegies. They were all in stock. As I started thinking I must have worried too much, I saw this aisle.

 

 

 

코너를 도는데 이 구역이 너무나 썰렁하길래 천장에 안내판을 보니, 휴지가 있는 구역이었다. 그런데 휴지가 없었다. 왜 코로나바이러스 대비로 휴지가 동나는걸까? 너무나 궁금하다. 괜히 나도 사야하나 싶게 생각이 들지만, 천만다행이 몇주 전 샘스클럽에서 사왔다는 (과거의 나, 칭찬해)
It was too empty and it made me wonder what should have been there. I looked up at the signs and it said toilet papers. 🙊 really? No toilet papers? Thankfully I bought bunch of them at Sams club a couple of weeks ago.

 

 

고기도 넉넉하게 소고기 꽃등심과 제육복음용 돼지고기를 구입했다.
And then I got some meat too.

 

 

 

여기는 내가 개인적으로 좋아하는 아이스크림 코너. 그냥 너무 알록달록하고 예뻐보여서 ☺️ 결국 탈렌티 아이스크림 하나 집어온 건 비밀
This is my favorite aisle. Just because they look colorful and cute. I got one Talenti ice cream.

 

 

손 세정제는 완전 품절이었다. 코로나 관련 사재기 물품들이 딱 느껴지는 부분 🤨
Hand sanitizers were out of stock. I can tell people here are concerned.

 

 

결국 카트 한가득 장을 봤다. 원래도 우리가 장을 많이 보는 편인데 평소보다 50불 정도 더 초과했다. 다른 점은, 우리만큼 장보는 사람들이 아주 아주 많았다. 평소같았으면 우리 장바구니가 좀 튀는 편인데 어쩐지 사람들이 평소보다 장을 훨씬 많이 보는 게 느껴졌다. 점원도 자기 오늘 너무 힘들다며 ,,,ㅋㅋㅋ 그리고 사람들 물건 만지는게 좀 두렵다고 계속 손 세정제 쓰고 있다고 그랬다. ㅠㅠ 안쓰럽...
Here is our buggie! We do get a lot of groceries at Publix but this time we did even more. The difference is that other people bought as many groceries as we did! Our cashier said he was getting tired non stop working and constantly using hand sanitizer. 😖

 

이거 외에 세봉지 더 있는 건 함정

 

 

결국 트렁크 한가득 장봐와서 좀 넉넉한(?) 마음이 드는 건 사실이다. 결국 시간이 지나면 앨라배마에도 확진자가 나오겠지만, 시간이 얼마 안 걸릴 거라고 본다. 미국은 의료비가 비싸 걱정이 많이 된다 ㅠㅠ
We filled up our trunk with groceries. Now I have something to eat, it makes me relieved. I think it is just a matter of time. There will be cases here in Alabama soon. I am just afraid that it is much more expensive to see a doctor and get treated.
