아메숏 벨라가 우리집에 온 날
Bella finally came to us

지난주 수요일인 11월 21일, 드디어 기다리고 기다리던 벨라를 분양받았다. 12주동안 엄마 고양이와 같이 태어난 고양이 남매들과 함께 자라야한다는 조건이 있었기 때문이다. 아기고양이한테 심신적으로나 건강상의 이유로도 3개월을 함께 다른 고양이 새끼들과 어미와 지내는 게 굉장한 도움이 된다고 한다. 그도 그럴 것이 벨라는 엄청 차분하면서 용감한 면이 있다. 아무튼 벨라가 오기 전 필요한 물품을 모두 구매해놓았고 다음날 목요일이 미국 최대 명절인 추수감사절 (땡스기빙데이) 전 날이 입양날짜인지라 최대 목, 금, 토, 일을 함께 벨라와 있으면서 새로운 환경에 적응할 수 있도록 도움을 줄 수 있었다.
November 21st, finally we brought Bella to our house. We had to wait for 12 weeks because being with her mother cat and her siblings help her grow well in every way. Bella's personally is very calm also brave at the same time. We had everything ready for Bella before she came. Since it was the day before Thanksgiving, we could spend almost 4 days in a row with Bella and it was perfect to help her get used to being in a new environment together.
입양 날 벨라를 이동장에 넣자 얌전히 들어가있었는데 주변에 벨라 남매들이 모여들어 '너 왜 거기 갇혀있니?'라는 말을 하는 듯이 벨라를 꺼내주려고 이동장을 긁어대는게 마음이 참 아팠다. 한꺼번에 두마리를 입양했더라면 더 좋았을까 싶기도 했던 순간 ㅠㅠ 브리더분도 벨라에게 마지막으로 잘 지내라는 인삿말을 건내셨는데 그걸 보는 것도 마음이 참 짠했다. 태어난 순간부터 3개월 내내 벨라가 잘 자라도록 성심성의껏 돌봐주신 브리더 팸에게도 너무 감사드린다.
At the breeder's house, we put Bella in the backpack carrier and she was so calm in there (I guess she didn't know what was going on lol) Bella's siblings surrounded the backpack and scratched the bag to get her out. It was so sad and I regret not having two kittens at the same time (I don't regret it anymore). Breeder said good bye to Bella and we could tell that Pam (Breeder) truly loves her all kittens and takes good care of them. We appreciate her so much for everything she had done for Bella and letting us have her.
아무튼 본론으로 돌아와서, 브리더분이 벨라가 태어난 남매 중에 가장 크다길래 얼마나 컸나, 살이 많이 찐건가 걱정했는데 실제로 보니 아직도 정말 작은 12개월의 아깽이었던 벨라. 집으로 오는 내내 뺙뺙(벨라는 야옹거리지 않고 강아지나 새처럼 뺙뺙거림;;)거리길래 브리더분이 벨라가 울면 이동장에서 꺼내 안아주라던 말을 기억하고 쓰다듬어주니 쌔근쌔근 잠이 들었었다. 깨우지 않게 조심히 운전하길 바랐는데 하필 돌아오는 길에 큰 교통사고가 있어 우회로를 택했는데 세상에서 제일 울퉁불퉁한 길을 봤다 진짜 말도안되게 땜빵이 많이 되서 벨라를 깨울까 걱정이 됐었음 ㅋㅋ
Back to the point, Pam said Bella was the biggest of the litter. We were worried what if she grew too fast or got too fat. When we saw her again, she was still 12 weeks old little bittie kitten. On the way back home, Bella kept whining in the backpack. I remembered Pam told me to put her out if she cries and pat her. So I did it and Bella fell asleep on my lap. I wanted Skylar to drive so smoothly, but there was a bad wreck so we had to take a different route and it was literally the bumpiest road!!! I was worried if that would wake her up.
첫날밤 그렇게 뺙뺙 거리며 밤에 우리를 깨웠다. 벨라가 원래 지내던 곳은 침실 한칸에 8마리 새끼고양이와 어미와 함께 지내다가 이제 큰 집 하나가 자기 소유가 되니 새끼 고양이로선 화장실 가는 길이 무서울까봐 그녀가 뺙뺙 거릴때마다 좀비처럼 일어나서 함께 화장실을 데려다주길 2,3일 지속하니 이제는 길도 다 알겠다, 신이나서 화장실까지 냅다 달려가는 똑똑한 고양이 벨라.
The first night, Bella cried a lot. I jumped up out of the bed almost like zombie and I escorted her all the way across to her bathroom together just in case she hadn't learned how to get there. Because she had stayed only in a small bedroom all day with her mama cat and 8 different kittens. Now she learned every part and corner of this house, she runs so fast to the bathroom whenever she needs to use her bathroom.
이제 5일 정도 함께 지내보니 대충 벨라가 뭘 좋아하는 질 알겠다. 벨라는 저 인간아기용 담요에 누워 자는 걸 좋아하고 원목 바닥을 좋아하며, 피싱스틱 장난감과 스피닝 볼 장난감이 그녀의 최애 장난감이다. 또 츄르에 엄청나게 환장한다.
Now it's been 5 days with her, I got some ideas what she likes. She likes to sleep on the blanket (which was supposed for a human baby lol) and she likes hard wood floor, fishing stick toy and spinning balls. Oh, she goes crazy for her treat -Ciao Chur-
벨라는 엄청 빨리 배운다. 우리가 일부러 벨라가 그동안 먹던 드라이푸드, 주식캔, 같은 모래를 사용했는데 첫날부터 고양이 화장실을 정확히 기억한 뒤 단 한번도 아무데다 소변을 보거나 실수한 적이 없다. 첫날 우리가 스크래처 사용법을 알려주려고 했는데 익숙치 않아 그런지 잘 사용하지 않았는데 금요일 내가 오전에 출근하고 돌아오니 어느새 스크래처 베드 사용법을 터득하고는 그안에 쏘옥 들어가 있는 모습이 너무 너무 귀엽고 사랑스럽다.
She is such a fast learner. We bought exact same dry food, wet food and sand she used before. She instantly knew where her litter box was and she has never made mistakes so far. We tried to teach her how to use scratchers. Because she hadn't used one back at the breeder's so it was a quiet new thing to her. Last Friday I had to go back to work in the morning, when I got back home for lunch, she figured out how to use scratchers and she was laying down in the scratching bed. She looked sooo adorable.
아메리칸 숏 헤어 고양이의 특성상 얼굴 앞면이 넙적하고 옆면이 평평하여 눈물이 잘 고인다고 한다. 매일 매일 눈물이 너무 흐르거나 눈꼽이 끼면 수시로 닦아주는데도 그래도 자주 생기긴 한다. 브리더분도 자주 닦아주라곤 했는데 아무래도 걱정이 되긴 해서 다음에 동물병원에 가면 물어봐야할 것 같다.
Because of American Short Hair Cats head shape, they always have tears around their eyes. Pam told us we needed to wipe her eyes often. I do more than 6 times a day but she still has crying eyes. I might need to ask a vet about this.
몸무게를 재어봐야할 것 같아서 부엌용 계량계로 ㅋㅋ 재봤더니 1.275 kg였다.
And I thought I should weighed Bella in the first week. So I used my kitchen scale for that lol. She weighed about 2.8 lbs.

벨라는 이 장난감에 아주 환장한다. 저 꼭대기에 고개를 푸욱 박고 볼을 찾아보겠다고 용쓴다. ㅋㅋㅋ 그렇게 사용하는게 아니라는 걸 깨달은 뒤로 완전 프로가 되어버림
Bella is obsessed with this toy. She put her head in the hole on top of the toy. She realized that it didn't help her find the balls. Now she is a pro!
벨라도 넓은 집이 마음에 드는지 우다다다다 잘도 뛰어다니고 이제는 점프도 처음보다 훨씬 더 과감하고 정확하게 한다. 브리더분이 벨라는 골골송 안부른다길래 걱정했는데 우리집에 온 첫날부터 엄청나게 골골송부르고 꾹꾹이도 엄청나게 한다. ㅋㅋ 우리는 이렇게 3명의 가족 구성원을 가진 가족이 되었다. 앞으로도 벨라가 건강하고 행복할 수 있도록 좋은 집사가 되려고 최선을 다할거다!!
She seems to like to have this big house all to herself. She runs across the house and she is getting better at jumping! The breeder said Bella didn't purr for some reason. But the first night she came to our house she purred a loooooooot. Also she makes biscuits sooooooo much. lol. Now we became a family of three. I will try my best to make Bella to be the happiest cat in the world!
