지난 번 식료품 가게, 마트에서 6%나 환급 가능한 아메리칸익스프레스의 블루프리퍼드 신용카드 추천에 이어 작성하는 미국 신용카드 추천 후기. 이번에는 바로 씨티은행의 아메리칸 에어라인 어드밴티지 신용카드를 추천하고자 한다. 아직 첫번째 포스팅을 못봤다면 꼭 아래 링크를 클릭해서 확인해보기를 추천드린다.

지난 8월, 연회비가 있는 아메리칸익스프레스 신용카드를 발급받은 뒤 내 명의로 된 신카 하나만 더 있으면 딱이겠다고 생각해왔다. 일단 내가 미국에 이민온 지 이제 2년이 겨우 될까말까 하는 시점에서 내 명의로 된 첫 신카를 발급받은 지 겨우 4개월 차. 아무래도 신용기록이 짧아도 너무나 짧은 이민자였던 나에게 날라오는 신용카드 전단들 중에 내가 발급자격이 된다고 오는 것들은 진짜 완-전 베네핏 하나도 없는, 평점도 별로 안좋은 그저 그런 신용카드들 뿐이었다.

Since last August I got my very first credit card under my name, I wished I could have another credit card. Since it hasn't been two years yet since I moved to the states, it had been very difficult for me to get another good credit card with this short credit history. Credit cards offered me were only basic credit cards with no benefits but bad reviews.

남편은 신용연한이 나보다 훨씬 길어서 신청하는 족족 신용카드 발급이 되는데 그 중에서도 내가 탐냈던 카드 중 하나였던, Citi 카드 사의 AAdvantage Platinum Select 신용카드는 특히나 해외여행을 자주 가는 여행족 혹은 나같은 이민자들에게 고향 비행기 티켓에 보탬이 될 수 있는 기특한 카드다. 이 카드는 마스터카드로 미국 대형 항공사 중 하나인 아메리칸 에어라인과 연계되어 있다.

Skylar has much longer credit history, he can mostly get any credit cards he wants. I wanted some of his good credit cards and this Citi's AAdvantage card was one of them. It is such a good card for travelers and immigrants who want to go back to their country regularly. This card is linked to American Airlines which one of the biggest airlines in the U.S.

아무튼 다른 신카 중 내 나름 신청자격이 된다 생각했음에도 불구하고 여러번 퇴짜 당한 이후 감히 카드 발급 신청서도 내볼 엄두도 안났던 카드가 이 카드였는데, 내가 이번 년도에 아메리칸 에어라인에서 멤버쉽 번호를 만들어둔게 도움이 된 건지, 남편 씨티 카드에 권한있는 추가 사용자로 이름을 올려두었던 게 도움이 되었던 건지, 아니면 연말에 운좋게도 프로모션 혜택을 받은 건지 아무래도 모르겠지만 집으로 날라온 우편에 [스페셜 오퍼]라며 이 신용카드 그림과 함께 날라온 봉투를 열어보니 정말 놀랍게도 이 카드 발급자격이 되었다며 초대번호와 함께 지금 신청하라는 편지를 보고 부리나케 신청 후 바로 발급 진행 중이라는 승인 메세지를 받았다.

Anyways after I got denied a few times by some credit companies, I didn't dare to apply for this card. But I got pre-selected and an offer today by mail. Maybe it was because I had joined American Airline's membership this year? or I was authorized user of Skylar's Citi AAdvantage card? or just luckily got a holiday promotion? However the reason was I hurried and applied for this card and instantly got accepted. (Seeing "Congratulations" not a "Unfortunately.. or We are reviewing your application" message was super exciting!)

나같은 경우는 이미 발급 대상으로 선정이 된 상태에서 초대번호를 입력했기에 씨티카드 홈페이지에 명시된 혜택보다 살짝 더 좋은 혜택을 받은 경우인데

대충 혜택을 요약하자면,

My case was pre-selected offer with an invitation code, the benefits were slightly better than the ones posted on their official website.

1) 첫 해 연회비 99달러는 면제. 가입 후 일년 후부터 카드 연회비 청구

2) 카드 발급 후 3개월 이내 이 카드로 3,000달러(대략 3백만원) 지불 시 아메리칸에어라인 50,000 마일리지 적립

3) 카드 발급 후 1년 이내 카드로 6,000달러(대략 한화 6백만원) 지불 시 추가 10,000 마일리지 적립

(씨티카드 홈페이지에서 일반적으로 신청시에는 50,000 마일리지 -> 40,000 마일리지 정도로 변동이 있음)

The benefits are annual fee 99$ is waved for the first year, with a condition spending 3000$ within the first 3 months, I earn 50,000 miles for American Airlines. I can earn bonus 10,000 miles after spending 60,000$ within the first year.

한국에 가려면 대략 편도로 6만 2천 마일리지가 들기 때문에 내가 이 카드를 사용해도 편도 티켓을 구입할 수 있을까 말까 하지만, 만약 이 마일리지를 미국 국내선인 뉴욕 같은 곳을 가는 데 사용한다면 충분한 마일리지다.

One way ticket to Korea takes 62,000 miles so even if I get all the miles with this card, I might not be able to get a ticket to Korea but If I use this miles for domestic flights such as to New York, It is plenty.

항공권 마일리지 적립 혜택 이외에도

4) 첫번째 체크인백은 무료

5) 식당과 주유소에서 지불되는 1 달러 별 2 마일리지가 적립

6) 아메리칸에어라인 항공권과 관련된 지불 1달러별 2마일리지 적립

7) 그 외에 모든 지불내역 1달러별 1마일리지가 적립된다.

Besides the benefits, the first checked bag is free, earn 2 miles for every $1 at restaurants and gas stations. Earn 2 miles for every $1 spent on eligible American Airlines purchase and earn 1 mile for every $1 spent on other purchases.
