아틀란타 지중해 음식점, 아틀란타 총영사관, 애틀랜타 다운타운
애틀랜타 재외국민투표 포스팅 | Related Post
한국에 혼인신고를 하기 위해 애틀랜타 총영사관에 들른 후 재외국민투표를 하러 애틀랜타 한인회관에 갔다.
We went to Atlanta to vote and register out marriage in Korea.
한국 밖에서 해보는 첫 투표였기 때문에 설레기도 했고
무엇보다 이번 대선은 정말 중요하다고 생각했기 때문에 왕복 7시간 운전임에도 불구하고 애틀랜타에 가게 되었다.
This was my first vote outside of Korea.
Even though it took 7 hours to drive there and back, since this election was very important we decided to go.
애틀랜타가 가까워질수록 교통량도 함께 증가한다.
아내의 권리행사를 위해 장장 7시간의 운전을 해준 내 남편에게도 너무너무 고마웠다.
The closer to Atlanta we got The more traffic there was.
I appreciated that my husband drove for 7 hours for me to vote.
애틀랜타총영사관이 위치한 International Boulevard.
여기에 온 대사관이 밀집되어 있는 듯하다. (한국기가 세번째에 뙇)
오른쪽 끝에는 오륜기도 있는데 애틀랜타는 1996년에 올림픽을 한 곳으로도 유명하다.
International Boulevard is where korean embassy is.
I think all embassies are on this street. (Korean flag is the third from the left)
There is Olympic flag on the right, because the Olympic was held in Atlanta in 1996.
나도 참 시골여자가 다 됐다 싶었던게, 이 거리를 보고 "오오~ 강남같아~" 이러면서 설렜다는 거.ㅋㅋ
남편이 그 정도는 아니라며 ^^;
I found that I have become a country girl.
Because I got so excited about this street thinking it looked like Gang-Nam.
My husband told me this was not that good. lol
애틀랜타 대사관에 가려면 공영주차장에 주차를 해야한다.
바로 앞 건물이기 때문에 이동에도 매우 편리하다.
There is a public parking garage just next to Korean embassy.
평일 오전임에도 주차장이 거의 만석이었다. 아마 출퇴근 하는 사람들이 주차를 많이 하는 것 같았다.
주차비용은 무조건 카드로만 후불로 계산할 수 있다.
이 날 우리가 아마 2시간 정도 이용한 걸로 기억하는데 20불이 청구됐다. (뜨헉)
The parking lot was almost full even on a weekday.
I guess people who work here park there.
You can pay the fee only with credit card.
We parked for about two hours and it costed 20 dollars.
주차장 5층으로 가면 대사관이 있는 건물과 연결되어 있는 다리가 있다.
There is a bridge between the parking garage and international tower on the fifth floor .
대한민국 총영사관이 위치한 곳은 international tower 21층이다.
우리 앞에 많은 한국인들이 있었다.
한 한국 꼬마가 "와~ 우리 다 한국인이야! 한 명 빼고.." 라고 신이 나서 말했는데,
그 한 명이 바로 스카일러라는 거...ㅋㅋ
나중에 스카일러는 "나도 한국말 할 줄 아는데.."라고 말할 걸 하지 않아 후회했다고 한다.ㅋㅋ
Consulate general of the republic of korea is located on the 21st floor of the building.
There were many koreans in there.
One excited girl said "Wow. We are all Korean! except one person."
That person was my husband.
Skylar regretted not telling her that he can speak Korean.
우리가 준비한 서류가 한국으로 전달되고 한달 후에 편지가 올 거라고 한다.
Our marriage will be registered in Korea soon and we will get a notice back in a month.
쾌청한 날씨와 높은 건물들을 보니 도시 생활이 새록새록 기억난다.
한국을 떠날 때에는 서울 하늘이 참 많이 오염됐었는데,
여기 와서는 공기 질 걱정을 한번도 해본 적이 없다.
This tall buildings reminded me of my city life in Seoul.
By the time I left Korea, the air was so polluted.
Since I moved to the US, I have never worried about air.
다시 대사관이 위치한 건물에 Mall 층이라는 곳으로 향했는데, 여기에 음식점들이 많았다.
We headed back to international tower. There is like underground floor called "Mall floor."
There were many restaurants.
Yelp에 708개나 되는 후기들에, 별점 5점 만점인 레스토랑이다...
얼마나 맛있길래 하고 궁금했던 차 Aviva by Kameel에 오게 되었다.
지중해 전문 음식점이고 유기농 식재료를 쓴다고 한다.
맛집이라 그런지 점심시간에 이렇게 줄이 서 있었다.
We were wondering how good this restaurant was to have 708 reviews and 5-star rating on Yelp.
This is Mediterranean food and they use organic ingredients.
There was a long line when we got there.
줄을 서있는 동안 서버가 이런 스프를 공짜로 나누어준다.
나는 메인음식을 위해 배를 아껴놓으려고 남편이랑 하나 나눠먹겠다고 했는데
정말 맛있다며 먹어보라고 하셔서 두 개를 받았다.
While we were standing in the line, a server gave people this soup.
I was going to share one with my husband.
The lady insisted I try this saying it's really good >ㅅ<
이 분이 이 음식점의 요리사인 Kameel이다.
엄청 활기차고, 많이 베푸시는 데다가 긍정파워가 넘치는 분이었다.
요리에 대한 열정도 대단하신 듯 했다.
This man is the owner and chef Kameel.
He is very outgoing, generous and positive.
He has passion for cooking of course.
Yelp에서 이런 표창장도 받나보다.
옐프 후기를 보고 맛집을 찾아가는 편인데 이런 표창장은 처음보는 것 같다.
지충해음식 분야 최고 평점으로 받은 것 같다.
I didn't know of this award.
It seemed like they got this as the best mediterranean restaurant on Yelp in 2014.
줄을 서서 기다리는 동안 메뉴판을 봤다.
메인음식 1개를 시키면 보통 2개의 사이드디쉬를 고를 수 있는데,
지중해음식은 처음 먹어보는지라 발음을 어떻게 해야할지 남편이나 나나 어려워했다.
We were looking at the menu while waiting for our turn.
You can get two side dishes with each main dish.
We had no idea how to pronounce those names.
나는 메인디쉬로 연어, 사이드디쉬로 퀴노아랑 볶은 야채를 골랐고
남편은 메인디쉬로 Shawarma 샤와르마, 사이드디쉬로 고구마랑 Mmjadara/Mujadara를 골랐다.
I ordered Salmon, Quinoa and Grilled vegies.
My husband ordered Shawarma(chicken), Sweet potatoes and Mmjadara.
줄을 따라 가면 뷔폐식으로 정렬되어 있는 음식들이 있다.
메인디쉬 - 사이드디쉬 순으로 배치되어 있는데,
고른 메인디쉬를 첫 종업원에게 말하면 그 분은 접시에 메인디쉬를 담고 옆 종업원에게 넘긴다.
그럼 그 때 고른 사이드디쉬를 말하면 된다.
The foods were arranged with main dishes first then side dishes.
You tell the first server your main dish, then they put your food on a plate and toss it to the next server.
You name your side dishes and the server put the side dishes on the plate.
Basically this restaurant is deli-style.
아참 이때 Kameel 요리사가 우리더러 처음왔냐고 하시길래 그렇다니까 음식 1개를 공짜로 주셨다. +ㅇ+...
Kameel asked us if this is our first time to come here.
We said Yes, and he gave us one free sample plate. +_+ (Lucky)
결제를 하고 음식을 받아 앉고 싶은 자리에 착석했다.
After we got food, we paid and sat at a table.
이게 카밀 요리사가 우리에게 무료로 주신 음식이다.
사실 뭐를 주신지는 잘 모르겠지만 추측하건대 Vegie platter가 아닐까 싶다.
Hummus 후무스는 병아리콩을 으깨어 만든 유명한 중동음식이다.
처음 맛보는 거였는데 위 아래 후무스 맛이 약간 달랐다.
향신료가 원래 안들어가는 건진 잘 모르겠지만 부담없이 먹을 수 있는 맛이다.
나는 특히나 후무스 옆에 야채들이 달콤새콤하니 정말 맛있었다.
This is the food on the house.
The left white stuff is Hummus which is mashed chick peas and popular middle east cuisine.
I tried it for the first time, It was good. There was no weird smell.
I especially liked the vegetables next to the Hummus.
They tasted a little sour with nice texture.
이거는 남편이 주문한 샤와르마 치킨이다.
남편은 이 치킨이 자기 인생에서 최고로 맛있는 치킨으로 꼽을 수도 있을 것 같다고 했다.
저 주황색 당근처럼 보이는 건 고구마다.
맛이 달짝찌근하니 호박 맛에 더 가깝다. 그렇다고 일반적으로 한국 호박고구마 맛은 또 아니다.
This is Shawarma that my husband ordered.
He said this chicken could be the best chicken of his life.
The orange things are sweet potatoes.
the taste was more like baked pumpkin.
고구마와 치킨 옆에 있는 건 Mujaddara로 메뉴판에는 Mmjaddara라고 적혀있었는데 아마 오타가 아닐까 싶다.
렌틸콩이라고 한다. 모든 메뉴가 정말 웰빙/건강/오가닉을 추구하고 있다는 걸 알 수 있다.
The other food is Mujaddara.
It was written Mmjaddara on the menu and I believe it was a typo.
Mujaddara is cooked lentils.
As you can see, their food is healthy.
이게 내가 주문한 연어, 퀴노아, 볶음야채다.
연어가 정말 정말 맛있었다.
내가 연어 고를 때 쉐프님이 "오가닉이에요~"라고 하셨는데,
연어가 오가닉이라는건지(가능한가?) 모든 메뉴가 그렇다는걸 말씀하신건지 아리송하다.
퀴노아는 말만 많이 들어봤지 먹어본 건 처음이었는데 몽글몽글한 식감이었고 소스는 토마토맛이었다.
This is Salmon, Quinoa and grilled vegies.
The salmon was great.
When I picked salmon at the kitchen, Kameel told me "It's organic!"
I was confused what he meant if he told me their food is organic or the salmon is..
I had heard of Quinoa but never tried it before.
It tasted tomato stew with lumpy beans?
쉐프님이 우리에게 무료로 주신 후무스와 야채샐러드 덕분에 식탁이 아주 꽉꽉 찼다.
신나게 냠냠하고 있었는데..
Since he let us try the plate for free, out table was so full.
종업원분이 쟁반들고 다니시면서 수박을 나누어 주셨다.
와 이 레스토랑 엄청 나누어 주는구나.
A server was giving away water melon as a desert for free.
And I thought "wow. this chef is so generous."
여기서 시켰던 블랙베리 쥬스도 참 맛있었다. 탄산이 다소 과하긴 했지만.
We bought the blackberry juice.
It was great except it was too carbonated.
카밀쉐프님이 돌아다니면서 나누어 주신 디저트 바클라바.
와 쉴새없이 베푸시는 분이다.
테이블마다 찾아가셔서 음식은 어땠는지 물어보시곤 바클라바를 나누어 주셨다.
나는 이 디저트가 너무 맛있어서 앞에 먹은 음식들 맛까지 잊게 할 정도였다. ㅋㅋ;
Kameel came to each table and asked them how the food was.
He let people try this dessert Baklava.
'Wow. Can he make profit when he gives away all this food?'
The Baklava was so good that it even made me forget how good the other dishes were.
It was honey.

먹은 후에 몰을 조금 더 돌아다녔다.

We walked around the mall after lunch.
에스컬레이터를 타고 올라오면 다양한 국기들이 게양되어 있는데, 우리나라 국기도 발견했다.
We saw these flags above the mall.

점심도 먹었겠다 애틀랜타 시내에 와본 기념으로 근처에 위치한 Woodruff 공원에 가기로 했다.
We headed to Woodruff Park in downtown.
애틀랜타 다운타운은 처음 와보는 거라서 모든 게 다 신기하고 좋았다.
I had never been in downtown Atlanta.
Everything was new to me and I really liked being in the downtown.
높은 건물들과 멋진 호텔, 그리고 많은 사람들이 애틀랜타 도심에 있다는 걸 실감나게 해 주었다.
There were tall buildings, nice hotels and many people.
That reminded me again of being in a big city.
나는 인생에서 처음으로 트램을 본지라 너무 신기해했다.ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
또 주변에 Marta(지하철) 입구도 있었다.
I had never seen trams before. It was really cool.
There was an entrance to Marta (Atlanta's subway)
그렇게 해서 도착한 Woodruff 공원이다.
분수 앞에서 늘 셀카를 찎는 우리다.
Here we were at Woodruff park.
We always take selfies in front of a fountain.
이 도심 공원에는 파란 분수와 그 주변에서 여유롭게 커피 한 잔씩 하는 사람들이 있었다.
In this park, there were people drinking coffee next to this fountain.
엄청 긴 폭포 벽이 있었다.
This is a super long wall water fall.
멍 때리는 남편 ㅎ
사진을 열심히 찍고 다시 주차장으로 돌아가
빠르게 찾아 온 대선 투표를 하러 애틀랜타 한인회관으로 향했다.
He zoned out in this picture.
We walked back to the parking garage and headed to the voting place.
