우리가 애틀랜타에 간 날, 도널드 트럼프도 애틀랜타에 왔다고 한다.
그래서인지 시내 몇몇 구간은 차가 지나다닐 수 없게 막아놓았다.
그러는 바람에 우리는 뱅뱅 돌고 돌아 애틀랜타 총영사관으로부터 30분이면 충분했을
애틀랜타 한인회관 투표소에 1시간이나 걸려 도착하게 되었다.
I heard Donuld Trump was in Atlanta on the same day!
Maybe that was why they blocked some streets.
We had to take different ways to get to the overseas polling station.
It was supposed to take only 30 mins but it eventually took an hour to get there.
애틀랜타 재외국민 투표소 플랜카드가 걸려있는데 왠지 가슴이 두근두근 거린다.
몸은 바다건너 미국에 와있지만 대한민국 국민으로서 권리를 행사한다는 게 뭔가 말로 설명할 수 없는 기분이었다.
There was placard hung that says "Overseas voting place."
또 한국은 미국과는 다르게 한표 한표 모두 반영되니까 내 한 표가 크게 느껴졌다.
Each of vote counts in Korea unlike American way.
애틀랜타 재외국민 투표는 아틀란타 한인회 문화회관에서 이뤄진다. (애틀랜타총영사관은 투표 장소가 아님)
미국기와 한국기가 나란히 게양되어 있었다.
This was my first time to go to Korean american association building.
There were Korean and American flags together.
한국에서는 투표하기가 새삼 얼마나 편했는지 생각하게 되었다.
집에서 오분거리였던 동사무소. 물론 그때도 늘 투표했었지만,
다른 나라에 와서 7시간동안 운전하면서 투표해보는 경험은 또 처음이다.
I realized how convenient voting was in Korea.
The voting place was only 5 mins away by foot.
I didn't know someday I would have to have my husband drive for 7 hours to vote.
엄청 넓직한 주차장에 여러 플랜카드가 달려있었는데 저기에 전주고등학교 동문회가 걸려있었다.
타국에서 전북 사람으로서 왠지 모를 반가움이다.
One of the placards said Alumni association of JeonJu high school.
I felt close to them since my hometown Gunsan was close to JeonJu.
한인회관 입구로 들어가면 안내해주시는 분들이 많은데,
남편이 나랑 같이 들어오다가 ㅋㅋㅋ 투표장 입구에서 "들어가면 안돼요!" 라고 안내자분이 제지하셨다.
그 말에 상처받은 남편... 자기가 한국 시민권자인지 아닌지 외모로 어떻게 구분하냐며....
There were a few helpers in the building,
My husband was coming along with me and got denied walking into the voting hall.
He got scarred a bit complaining how could they assume he was not Korean citizen by only looks.
아무튼 강당에 들어가면 신분증을 보여주고 한국 주소를 확인한다.
그럼 그 주소 관할구역으로 자신의 투표가 전달되는 듯 했다.
Once you walk into the hall, you show your ID.
They they check your address in Korea on laptop.
Your vote will be sent to the Area and counted.
답답한 미국 행정처리보다가 한국 행정처리 경험하면 얼~마나 빠르고 좋은지 모른다.
You can't imagine how fast and convenient it was.
It only took literally one minute for them to do that.
Koreans work faster.
그리고 입구에 투표인증샷 찍을 수 있는 공간도 마련되어 있었다. ㅋㅋ
There was photo spot for you at the entrance.
So you can cherish your voting experience with pictures lol.
델타항공에서 애틀랜타-인천 직항편이 신규 취항된다고 한다.
많은 사람들이 더 편리하게 이동할 수 있겠다.
우리 부모님도 언젠가 저 직항편을 통해 미국에 오면 참 편하겠다 싶었다.
This says there will be delta flights right between Korea and Atlanta.
I hope my parents take the nonstop flight to come here someday.
한 10분정도 거리에 떨어져있는 둘루스 H mart.
조지아주 애틀랜타까지와서 둘루스 한인마트를 가지 않는건 진정한 기름낭비다.
We drove 10 mins to H mart.
If we go to Atlanta we need to shop at H mart.
3개월만에 온 곳이라 더욱 더 반가웠다.
It's been 3 months since we shopped here.
평일 오후 한산한 마트의 모습이다.
저번에 왔을 때보다 덜 북적여서 좋았다.
The mart wasn't very crowded on the weekday.
We could take our time enjoying shopping.
현란한 색상들의 과일은 보는 이의 눈을 사로잡는다.
The fruit colors were eye-catching.
안그래도 텃밭에서 무를 키우려고 씨앗을 사 놨는데, 여기서 한국 제주무를 팔고 있다.
진짜 제주도에서 키운 무를 수입한건지 아님 그냥 제주산 씨앗을 가지고 여기서 파는지는 모른다.
I had bought Daikon seeds, here at H mart they had these radishes from Jeju.
I wasn't sure if they just imported from there or they planted Jeju Radish seeds here and harvested.
왼쪽 아래 그릴 판을 눈독들이는 남편이다.
차가운 음식은 나중에 사려고 먼저 라면코너로 향했다.
He was temped by the grill on the bottom left for a sec.
We headed to Ramen sections first.
쇼핑 초반부터 종류별 불닭볶음면에 흥분했다. 미국에서 처음 보는 핵불닭볶음면이랑 불닭볶음탕면까지!!!
손에 잡히는대로 카트에 다 넣었다.
지금 아니면 또 언제 와보겠나 싶고 살 수 있을 때 사지 않으면 후회한다.
Wow. I got so excited about all these Korean ramens!
Especially Bul-Dak ramen which is the hottest ramen! (in the world)
I grabbed every ramen so I wouldn't regret not getting enough ramen later.
홍라면이 그 GS 편의점에서 파는 홍라면인가? 모르겠다.
라면만 10종류 넘게 샀다.
메밀소바면, 칼국수라면, 불닭볶음면, 진라면 등등등!
I don't know that Hong ramen is the Hong ramen sold at GS convenient stores.
I bought more than 10 kinds of ramen. XD
The funny thing is they are all different.
Mild taste, thicker noodle ramen, hottest ramen etc.
지난 방문 때 샀던 쌀이 왼쪽에서 두번째 햇찹쌀인데 맛있어서 이번에도 구매했다.
이 사진엔 없지만 다른 쌀이 싼 가격에 세일 중이어서 그거랑 같이 샀다.
Last time we bought the second rice from the left (yellow-blue cover one). So we did again this time.
We bought another rice on sale.
애틀랜타 한인마트가 참 좋은게 세일을 많이 한다.
고기전용 쌈장이 1달러도 채 하지 않는다니!!! 당장 카트에 두개를 담았다.
물론 내가 그렇게 많이 먹을 건 아니고, 저번 날 시부모님과 함께 삼겹살 먹었을 때 시아빠가 쌈장을 꽤나 좋아했었다.
시아빠에게 선물하기 위해 하나 더 샀다.
I love this market because they have so many sales.
The soybean paste was only for 0.99$! I put two of them right into the buggie.
One of them is for my father-in-law.
He liked Bean paste sauce with porkbelly.
반찬 코너에 오징어채, 진미채, 콩자반, 마늘 장아찌 등등 없는 게 없다.
They have all kinds of side dishes.
남편이 좋아하는 한국음식은 삼겹살, 바나나 우유 그리고 군만두다.
그 중에서도 비비고 군만두가 최고.
그래서인지 H mart에서는 갈 때마다 비비고 시식코너가 있다.
My husband Favorite Korean foods are...
Porkbelly, Banana milk and fried dumplings.
The best dumpling is Bibigo's.
This mart always has Bibigo's dumpling samplings.
아주머니가 남편 만두 시식하게 하시고 남편의 마음을 사로잡아 한 봉지 더 팔았다는 건 비밀이다.
The dumpling lady let my husband try the dumpling and sold another pack of it lol.
여기는 김치코너인데 내가 가장 좋아하는 건 겉절이다.
남편도 겉절이 좋아하길래 겉절이 하나 사고, 김치 큰 통이 세일 중이어서 그 것도 또 샀다. ㅎㅎ.
This is Kimchi section. Look at all the kinds!
I like fresh kimchi the most.
Kimchi is fermented food so it still tastes good after a while.
But fresh kimchi tastes worse If you leave it for a long time.
we bought normal kind Kimchi and Fresh kimchi.
이거는 애틀랜타 H mart에서 파는 햄김밥인데 저번에 이 김밥 샀는데 너무 너무 맛있었다.
그래서 이번에도 샀는데 저번보다는 맛이 덜 했지만 여전히 맛있었다.
This kimbap was the best last time.
so I bought this again. It wans't that good this time though.
또 H mart에서는 삼겹살 수육도 파는데 이거 진짜 맛있다! 비싸긴 비싸지만 미국에서 수육 사먹을 일이 자주 있지는 않으니깐 말이다.
무 생채, 새우젓, 쌈장, 고추, 절인 배추, 마늘 당근이 함께 들어있었다.
저 고추가 어찌나 매웠던지 딸국질도 잘 하지 않는 내가 고추 한 입 먹자마자 딸국질했다;
This boiled Pork belly is one of the top late-night meals in Korea.
This was great too!
It had salted Napa cabbage, super hot peppers, carrots, cut radish kimchi and bean paste.
우리가 이 날 장 봐서 나온 가격이 무려 350달러, 한화로 37만원 정도 나왔다.
무슨 한을 품고 쇼핑을 한 것 같았다.
미국에서도 한국 식료품을 살 수 있는 시대라지만 아직 멸치액젓, 물엿, 국간장 이런 건 구하기가 불가능하기 때문이다.
이런 소스류와 냉동삼겹살을 4팩 샀으니깐 뭐....
We spent 350 dollars on shopping korean food.
It didn't cost a lot compared to what we actually got such as 4 packs of frozen pork belly, Soju...a bunch of ramen.
Well, you can get some korean food at Walmart now but still I need some sauces that aren't sold at American grocery stores.
H mart 앞에 주유소 편의점이 있는데 거기에서 얼음을 사서 아이스박스를 채우면 된다.
There is a gas station in front of H mart, you can buy ice there.
we filled our cooler with Ice.
집에 돌아가기 전 커피 한잔 하기위해 들른 Sweet hut 이다.
사실 Georgia French bakery & cafe가 이 근처에 있어서 가보려고 했었는데
구글맵이 "해당 빵집은 4시에 문을 닫습니다. "라고 안내를 해주었다.
We stopped by Sweet hut to grab coffee.
We wanted to try a different cafe which was "Georgia French Bakery & Cafe" near the mart.
Google map told us the bakery would close in ten minutes.
마침 곧 4시가 다 되는 시간이어서 Sweet hut으로 급하게 변경했다.
So we just went to Sweet hut again.
이 날은 왠지 빵이 적었다. 안그래도 카페에 사람들이 꽤나 많이 있더라.
They had less bread and more people in the cafe.
케익은 아직 많이 남아있어서 나는 에클레어를 골랐다.
There were still many cakes. I ordered an Eclair.
남편이 고른 빵. 시나몬 롤인가?
This is my husband bread. Is this Cinnamon roll?
내가 고른 에클레어. 안에 크림이 들어있다.
간단히 요기를 채운 뒤 또 몇 시간의 운전을 하러 갔다.
My eclair had cream in it.
We just filled our stomach a little bit and drove for hours again.
남편이 꼭 포스팅에 넣어야 한다고 강조했던 우리의 운전 루트다.
와 7시간이 아니고 8시간이었네.
무슨 도시 도시를 한바퀴 돌은 거 마냥 생겼다.
하루에 8시간 운전이라니, 내 남편에게 정말 고맙다.
This is our driving route on the day.
My husband demanded I put this on my post.
Wow. It was not 7 hours but 8 actually.
It looked like we drove in a circle.

집에 돌아가는 길에 찍은 석양 모습이다.
우린 운전하면서 K pop이랑 팝송이랑 섞어서 듣는데, 남편은 나보다 한국노래 더 많이 안다.
가끔 가사를 많이 따라 불러서 소름돋을 때도 있다. '-'a
This is the sunset on our way back home.
We listen to K pop and Pop songs together while driving.
Sometimes my husband sings along with Korean songs so perfectly that it amazes me.
H mart에서 장보고 트렁크에 한 가득 식량을 채우고 한국에 혼인신고도 완료하고
한국 대통령 선거 투표도 하고, 애틀랜타 시내 구경도 하고
참 많은 일을 한 하루였다.
이렇게 우리 부부의 추억은 또 하나 쌓여간다.
We registered our marriage in Korea, shopped at Hmart in Duluth,
Voted and looked around downtown Atlanta.
We did so many things in one day.
We collected another memory to share now.
