미국 알라바마 일상 :: Alabama Gadsden Noccalula falls

오랜만에 다시 찾은 미국 앨라배마 개즈든의 노칼룰라 폭포.

가뭄으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 한국과는 달리 근래 미국 남부는 비가 많이 내렸다. 

그래서 폭포수도 보통 때와는 달리 엄청나게 불어있었다.

We revisited Noccalula falls in Gadsden, Alabama for the first time in a long time.

It had rained a lot here in Alabama unlike Korea which is having a bad drought these days.

So the waterfalls were so huge.

원래 수풀인데 거의 해초 겪으로 보이는;

수량이 많아져 물살도 굉장이 빨라졌고, 근처에 살던 오리나 거위는 보이지 않았다.

As far as I remember the plant was a tree.

Now it almost looks like seaweed in the water.

The water flow was so fast and I didn't see any ducks or geese there.

사실 지난 주 토요일에 개즈든에 온 이유는 남편 친구인 Eli 재즈연주회가 있어서 관람차 갔더니,

알고보니 날짜를 착각했던 것. 토요일이 아닌 일요일이었음!!!

남편은 자기가 날짜를 잘못봤다며 미안하다고 자책에 자책을 얼마나 하던지.

왜냐면 예정대로라면 토요일에 연주회 관람갔다가 일요일에는 버밍햄 미술관 놀러가기로 했었....(눈물)

Actually the reason why we came to Gadsden was that we were going to Eli's jazz concert.

It turned out that my husband misread the date. It was sunday not saturday. oops.

He blamed himself so many times -_-a

Because now our plans were all twisted.

We planned to go to the concert on Saturday and to Birmingham museum of Art on Sunday. Oh well.

어찌됐던 기왕 개즈든 온 김에 노칼룰라 폭포라도 보러 가자! 해서 뜬금없이 오게 되었는데

날씨도 화창하고 폭포도 장관이라 관광객들도 무지 많았다.

햇살이 어찌나 뜨겁던지, 자외선을 몸에 들이 붓는 것 같았음....... 눈이 시려워서 눈도 잘 못뜨겠고. ㅋㅋㅋ

Anyways we were in Gadsden, we just decided to see Noccalula falls at least!

The weather was so sunny and the falls were amazing.

There were so many visitors to see the falls too.

The sun light was so strong that I felt like someone poured UV all over my body -_-a

사진에서는 흙탕물로 보이지만 원래는 꽤 맑은 물이다.

수압이 쎄서 진흙이랑 섞이다 보니 저런 색으로 보이나 봄.

The water looks muddy but it was quiet clear usually.

I think the strong water flow mixes the mud and water so it looks brown.

노칼룰라 폭포는 저 아래 내려가서 폭포수 뒷쪽으로도 들어가 볼 수 있는 것 같은데,

다음에 물이 좀 줄어들면 시도해봐야겠다.

이렇게 물이 많은 데도 한 커플은 저 아래 내려가있던데 좀 위험해보였다.

You can walk down under the falls too.

I want to try it next time.

There was too much water so it seemed too dangerous to do it, but there was a couple walking down there anyways.

안그래도 개즈든 오는 길에 Frios 라는 아이스크림 가게가 우리 동네 근처에 개점 준비 중이길래 

다음에 열면 먹어봐야지! 했는데, 노칼룰라 폭포에서 이미 팔고 있었더라 ^^;

그래서 복숭아 맛으로 골라 먹었는데 3달러 주고 사먹기엔 너무 비싼 맛.

We saw this ice cream shop -Frios- getting ready to open near by our town.

We wanted to try their ice cream when it opens.

But there was a Frios at the falls! 

We tried their peach popsicle and it was 3 dollars.

We didn't think it was worth buying.

이 날 노칼룰라 폭포에서 한 10분; 구경하다가 너무 더워서 우리 그냥 집에 빨리 가자고 했다.

예정된 계획과는 틀어진 날이었지만 그 나름대로 재미있었던 날.

We stayed there for about 10 minutes? It was too sunny and we wanted to go home.

Our original plan was ruined but it was still fun.
