4월 23일 | April 23rd
처음으로 양파 새싹을 발견했다. 쌍떡잎이 아닌 새싹은 처음 나오는 거라서 마냥 신기했다.
I saw these onion sprouts for the first time in my life.
It was amazing because these have a single seed leaf unlike other sprouts I have.
고추 새싹한테 너무 미안했다. 뿌리를 파보니 줄기가 어찌나 길던지.
이유는 내가 너무 깊게 씨앗을 심어서 그렇다.
그래도 끝까지 발아해준게 내심 대단하다.
끝에 보면 분홍색 씨앗 껍질이 붙어있다 XD
I felt bad for the pepper sprouts. How long they were.
It was because I planted them very deeply.
It was impressive they eventually showed up.
You can see the seed at the bottom.
멀리서 보면 잘 안보이지만 이제는 고추 새싹이 4개나 발아됐고, 양파도 이젠 2개나 싹이 나온 모습이다.
You can't tell from a distance, but there are 4 pepper sprouts and 2 onion sprouts in the planter.
버베나 꽃대에 꽃이 차오르기 시작했다.
조만간 꽃을 다시 볼 생각에 설렜다.
This verbena was about to bloom.
비가 많이 온 날이어서 그랬는지 어디선가 나타난 달팽이를 발견했다.
상추 화분에서 발견한거라 부리나케 빼냈다. 새삼 오랜만에 보는 달팽이같다.
그동안 도시생활만 하다보니...
There was a snail in my lettuce planter since it rained a lot.
I took it out in a hurry for my lettuce.
It had been a while since I saw snails in person.
4월 24일 | April 24th
안경테 스티커 안에 보면 발아된 양파 새싹들이 있다. 총 4개 발아한 모습이다.
아래는 한국 꽈리고추새싹 7개가 발아했다. 발아율 100%다.
There were 4 onions in the circles.
There were 7 peppers below. All pepper seeds germinated.
발아된 양파 새싹 4개다. 그냥 뽑아보면 쪽파처럼 생겼다. 자리를 좀 옮겨줬다.
Those were onions. They just looked like baby spring onions.
I transplanted them.
버베나가 꽃을 피기 시작했다. 꽃망울은 분홍색인데 꽃잎은 새빨강이다.
버베나는 연중내내 피는 꽃이라서 관리만 잘 해준다면 이렇게 예쁜 꽃을 오래오래 볼 수 있다.
My verbena started to bloom again.
the buds looked pink but the flowers were so red.
As long as you trim verbena properly, you can see verbena all year. They are perennial flowers.
민트 씨앗을 구하기가 참 어려웠다.
페퍼민트만 찾고 있었는데 그냥 민트라고 써져있는 씨앗을 발견하고는 너무 기뻤다;
민트를 구한 이유는 굴파리를 쫓아내는데 효력이 있을까 싶어서다.
내 샐러드 새싹들에 흰색 무늬가 생기기 시작했는데,
굴파리가 알을 잎 안에 낳고 그 유충이 돌아다니면서 생기는 자국이라는 것이다. (윽 소름)
사실 민트 모종을 사려고 한건데, 팔지 않아서 씨앗으로 심었다.
It was not easy to find mint seeds.
I was looking for peppermint seeds, there was none.
The reason why I looked for them was it might help to keep leaf miners away.
My greens had white lines on their leaves
I found out that was because they had eggs in a leaf and the larva eat the leaf in it,
then the route looks like a twisted path. (EW!)
Mint seedlings would have been better, but I couldn't find them.
4월 25일 | April 25th
상추가 이만큼이나 자랐다. 이제 본잎 세장을 가지고 있다니... 귀엽다.
My lettuce grew this much. It had three main leaves now.
쪽파는 그냥 물만 줘도 잘 자라는 것 같다.
I think green onions grow well with water.
시엄마가 선물해주신 식물키우기 세트다.
파슬리, 바질, 데이지랑 해바라기인데 해바라기는 씨앗봉투에 씨앗이 하나도 없었다..
그래서 그냥 민트 씨앗을 넣어줬다.
저 흙에 물을 부으면 마구마구 커진다. 압축토는 처음봐서 신기했다.
They are seed grow kits that my mother-in-law bought for me.
They are parsley, basil, daisy and sunflower.
There was no seeds in the sunflower bag;;
I just planted some mint instead.
Once the pellets absorb water, they expand a lot.
4월 26일 | April 26th
버베나가 갑자기 활~짝 피었다. 아 이 색깔이 너무 선명한데 사진으로는 다 안담기는 것 같다.
정말 정말 예쁘다. 버베나 색깔이 여러가지인데 빨간색 선택하기를 잘한 것 같다.
My verbena bloomed a lot in a short time.
The color was so deep, the picture doesn't show it vividly.
Verbena has various colors. I was glad to pick a red one.
이제는 빨간 버베나 꽃이 보이는 내 뒷마당 텃밭모습이다.

화분을 옮기는 도중에 발견한 지렁이!!!!
내가 혹시나 죽였을까봐 너무 깜짝 놀랬다.
차마 화분아래서 지렁이를 발견할거라곤 생각도 못했기 때문에...
저번에 달팽이를 발견한 거에 이어서 지렁이도 참 오랜만에 보는 것 같다.
얘는 집어다가 내 상추 밭에 같이 넣어줬다.
Oops. I moved my pot and there was an earthworm under it.
I got freaked out because I didn't know if I killed it.
I didn't expect it to be there at all!
I found a snail and now an earthworm?
I put it in my lettuce box.
4월 27일 | April 27th
지금부터 완전히 집중해야한다.
아마존(쇼핑몰)에서 발견한 유기농비료 "아조마이트"를 소개하려고 한다.
후기가 179개인데 평점이 거의 5점 만점에 수렴하는 비료다.

미국 유타 화산석을 갈아서 분말가루로 만든건데, 식물에 필요한 미네랄을 다량 함유하고 있다고 한다.
아마 한국에서는 지렁이분변토를 많이 사용하고 있지만 아조마이트에 대해서는 잘 모를 거라고 생각한다.
나 역시도 이번에 처음 안 유기농 비료였기 때문에...
그 효과는 내 텃밭일기를 따라가다 보면 알게된다^.~
You gotta concentrate from now, because I'm gonna tell you a secret.
This is organic fertilizer called "AZOMITE".
It has 179 reviews and the rating is almost 5 on Amazon.
It's rock dust powder of Utah volcano. It has vital minerals for plants.
I heard that many koreans use earthworm casting soil these days,
I guess not many of them have heard of AZOMITE. Neither had I.
I will show you the effect in this post.
내 버베나 꽃 꽃대 2개는 거의 활짝 피었고 이제 세번째 꽃대에서 꽃이 피어나고 있다.
처음 이 버베나 모종을 샀을 때에는 꽃대가 2개 뿐이고 꽃이 아직 피지 않았었다.
마이너스의 손인 내가 그 버베나를 키워서 이제는 대략 11개가 넘는 꽃대를 가진 버베나로 키우다니 감격스럽다.
Two stalks had fully bloomed, now flowers of the third stalk started to bloom.
When I got this verbena there were only two stalks with no flowers.
I am so proud of myself that I grew this verbena with over 11 stalks.
흰색 화분에 있던 샐러드새싹들을 다른 곳에 옮겨준 뒤, 여기에는 양파 새싹 6개를 모조리 옮겨주었다.
저 흙 안에 아조마이트를 조금 뿌려주었다.
양파도 6개 심었는데 6개 모두 다 발아했다니 넘 뿌듯하다.
I transplanted 6 onions in this pot and tried azomite in the soil.
By the way, the onions all germinated too.
이게 내가 만든 내 텃밭정원 계획도이다.
나름 혼작, 사이짓기라는 개념을 배워서 상생하는 작물들끼리 배치해보았다.
이 계획에 따라서 양파 새싹들 사이에는 캐모마일 씨앗을 심어주려고 자리를 비워놓았다.
Here's my gardening plan.
I even learned mixed-cropping.
I organized crops following that concept.
So I'm going to plant chamomile between onions.
왼쪽은 낚시 바구니이고 오른쪽은 휴지통이다 -_-a
얼마 전에 아마존에서 Daikon 이라고 아시안 무와 비슷한 씨앗을 샀다.
무가 잘 크라고 긴 화분을 찾아야 했어서 어쩔 수 없이 이 두개에 흙이랑 아조마이트를 담았다.
이 바구니들에도 내 작물 계획도에 따라서 고추, 상추+고추를 각각 심어주었다.
The left basket is for fishing and the right one is a trashcan lol.
I bought Daikon seeds on amazon.
Daikon is similar to Radish except it's sweeter and white.
I had to get long enough pots for them.
I filled them with soil and Azomite.
내 샐러드채소들도 쑥쑥 커가고 있다. 여기에 더 잘 자라라고 아조마이트를 함께 넣어주었다.
My greens were growing fine. I put some Azomite in this planter too.
내 쌈채소들 모습인데 아직 뭐가 뭔지는 나도 잘 모른다...
I don't have idea what they are yet ^^;
4월 28일 | April 28th
투표하러 아틀란타 한인회 간 김에, 둘루스 한인마트에 들렀다.
거기에 깻잎이랑 아삭이 고추 모종을 팔고 있었기에 당장 집어왔다.
고추랑 들깨는 합이 좋다그래서 꽈리고추와 아삭이고추 사이에 깻잎 모종을 심어줬다.
I went to Atlanta to vote and went to H-mart in Duluth too.
I didn't know they sold korean seedlings.
I heard pepper and sesame are good to plant together. So I put them in the same pot.
버베나 세번째 꽃대에도 꽃이 많이 피었다.
네번째, 다섯번째 꽃대에도 꽃망울이 있어서 조만간 진짜 많은 버베나 꽃을 볼 수 있을 거 같다!!!!
The third bunch had many flowers now too.
There will be more flowers soon.
4월 29일 | April 29th
맨 왼쪽 쪽파 대가 꺾여있었다. 너무 길어져서 그런 것 같아서 첫 수확을 하기로 했다.
The left green onion was folded in half.
I thought this was the time to harvest.
가위들고 긴 줄기들을 촵촵 잘라주었다. 
I cut the green onions.
자를 때 깜짝 놀란게 무슨 물이 쏟아져서 보니까 파 진액이었다.
요전날 넣어준 아조마이트가 효과가 있었던 것 같은게 파 향도 정말 진하고 건강했다.
아조마이트를 넣지 않은 흙에 사는 파는 이 색이 아니다.
I was surprised by the water in the green onion.
I guess the azomite worked well. they smelled so fresh and strong.
I have another green onion without azomite. That doesn't look this fresh.
쪽파 줄기가 이만큼이나 자랐다. 단기간 폭풍성장이다.
쪽파 씻어서 잘게 잘라서 냉동실에 보관했다.
They were so long. They grew fast in a very short term.
I washed them, cut them and put them in the freezer.
<아조마이트 효과> The effect of Azomite.
와 하루아침에 잎사귀가 대박 커졌다.
이 날 해가 정말 쨍쨍했고 흙도 더 부워준데다가 미네랄이 풍부한 아조마이트(홍보아님..)까지 넣어주니까
잎사귀들이 신이 났나보다.
눈에 띄게 커졌다.
아조마이트가 식물들에게 필요한 미네랄을 공급해주고 그걸 먹고 쑥쑥 자라니까 뿌듯하다.
This day was sunny and I poured more soil plus Azomite, the leave got so bigger.
I think the azomite has a lot of nutrients.
