Alabama Jubilee Hot Air balloon Classic 2017 

앨라배마 디케이터 쥬빌리 열기구 축제

시부모님으로부터 앨라배마 열기구 축제 정보를 입수한 후 이 날이 오기를 손꼽아 기다렸다.

앨라배마 디케이터는 우리 집으로부터 1시간 반정도 떨어져 있다.

주차를 하고 축제장소로 향해 걸어가고 있는데 축제로 향하는 차가 점점 많아졌다.

일찍이 주차하길 잘했다.

I heard of this festival from my mother and father in law and I had looked forward to it.

Decatur is one and a half hours away from home.

There was more and more traffic. We were glad to have parked in advance.

광장으로 향하던 중 갑자기 어떤 운전사가 차 창문을 내리더니, 내가 이 축제에서 가장 꾸미고 온 사람일거라고 그런다;

남편이 "괜찮아요."라고 했더니, "아니 그 뜻이 아니라 제일 예쁘다고?" 라고 말했는데 흠. 

이게 드레스업 한거라곤 전혀 생각도 못했는데 미국 사람들한테는 그렇게 보이나라는 생각이 들었다^^;

We were heading to the square and this driver suddenly talked about my outfit 

saying I must be the only one dressed up-_-

My husband said "It's fine" and he said like, he didn't mean like that, but sounded like I looked pretty. 

I had never thought I was dressed up -_-; I guess I looked that way to Americans.

새벽 6시부터 열기구를 띄운다고 그랬는데 아직 열기구는 보이지 않았고,

사람들은 다들 돗자리나 캠핑의자를 펼쳐 좋은 자리를 선점하고 있었다.

There was no air balloons even though it was supposed to start at 6 am.

People were already taking good spots with camping chairs or blankets.

우리는 돗자리를 가지고 갔는데 잔디가 축축해서 캠핑의자를 사올걸 아쉬웠다.

We brought this blanket, but chairs would have been even better since the lawn was kind of wet.

열기구 축제가 앨라배마에서는 꽤나 규모있는 축제라고 느껴진게 이동상점들이 빼곡히 들어서 있었다.

There were many food trucks. This festival must be so popular in Alabama.

쥬빌리 축제에서는 열기구 뿐만 아니라 빈티지 자동차 쇼, 공예품 판매, 아이스링크장 등 볼거리 즐길거리들이 다양했다.

Besides hot air balloons, there were so many things to enjoy such as a vintage car show, arts and crafts, and ice rink.

우리는 6시에 열기구 레이스에 늦지 않으려고 새벽 3시 반부터 일어나서 부리나케 도착했는데,

조금 더 늦게 왔어도 전혀 지장 없을 뻔 했다.

We woke up at 3 AM to get there on time. It wouldn't have mattered even if we came here later.

즐길거리 1. 열기구 Hot air balloons

서서히 열기구들을 동반한 차량들이 도착했다.

Trucks with hot air balloons were arriving.

펩시 열기구가 가장 먼저 스타트를 끊었다.

어찌나 많은 프로 사진작가들이 주위에 모이던지, 남편은 이들이 사진을 찍어서 펩시에 팔 수 있기 때문에 이렇게나 열심히 사진을 찍는 거라고 했다.

Pepsi started first. 

There were so many pro photographers taking photos.

My husband told me it's because they can sell the pics to Pepsi later.

인생에서 처음으로 열기구 점화를 보는 거였다.

너무 신기하고 혹시나 열기구 천에 불이 옮겨 붙지는 않을까 조마조마 했다.

It was my first time to watch a hot air balloon ignition. 

I was anxious if it would catch on fire or not.

그리하여 빵빵하게 부풀어 오른 펩시 열기구.

역시 자본주의 사회에서는 상업적으로 일하는 사람들이 빠릿빠릿하고 열심히인 것 같다. ㅋㅋ

So the balloon fully expanded!

It seemed like people paid worked faster than volunteers here.

열기구가 바람에 날리지 않게 꼭지에 줄을 연결해서 붙잡고 있어야 한다.

They pulled the line from the top of the balloons.

곧 있으면 메모리얼데이인데, 그래서인지? 미국 국기 열기구도 보였다.

There was an american flag balloon too. It reminded me of Memorial day soon.

미국 사람들은 자국기를 엄청 사랑한다. 어딜가든 미국 국기가 게양되어 있다.

미국 열기구를 보니 급 생각남. ㅎ

Speaking of which, Americans seem to love their country more than Koreans.

In the way that they have their country flags hoisted a lot.

열심히 사진 찍고 있다가 저기 너머에 캐릭터 열기구들이 있는 걸 발견했다!

바로 카툰네트워크의 캐릭터들.

We found there were character air balloons over there. 

They were cartoon network characters!

이 열기구 캐릭터 이름은 기억이 나지 않는다. ㅜㅜ

I can't think of this name.

뒤에서 보면 네 캐릭터의 뒷통수가 너무 귀엽다.

The back of the heads looked so cute.

또 새로운 열기구를 발견했는데 색깔이 알록달록한게 제일 예뻐보였다.

We found another balloon and I loved the colors the most!

남편이 가장 좋아했던 열기구.

My husband's favorite.

열기구가 띄워지길 고대했는데, 마침 방송에서 날씨때문에 열기구레이스는 못할 거라고 했다.

너무너무 아쉬웠다. ㅠㅜ 사람들도 방송을 듣더니 뿔뿔히 흩어졌다.

남편은 다른 즐길거리들이 있으니 다른 곳도 가보자고 했다. 

일단 금강산도 식후경이니까 퍼널케익을 먹으러 갔다.

We were looking forward to the Air Balloon Race 

and there was an announcement that they can't do it this morning.

What a shame. People started to scatter too.

My husband told me to check out other events too.

We decided to eat a funnel cake first.

열기구들도 하나 둘씩 바람을 빼고 있었는데 트위티 볼살 처진게 너무 웃겼다. ㅋㅋ

Look at Tweetie's saggy cheeks. It looked so funny.

They stopped filling hot air into the balloons since they can't race anyway.

즐길거리 2. 길거리음식과 소형공예품 Food truck and small decorations

열기구 축제인 만큼 열기구 데코레이션을 여기서 다 만나보는 것 같았다.

It seemed like all air balloons decorations in the world gathered there. :D

음식을 사려면 여기 티켓판매소에서 티켓을 사야한다.

우리가 원하는 퍼널케익은 6개의 티켓을 필요로 했다.

라지사이즈 레모네이드는 5개가 있어야해서 총 11개를 구입!

If you wanna buy some food there then you have to buy tickets first.

Funnel cake requires 6 tickets and large size lemonade needs 5.

We bought 11 tickets.

여기 줄을 서서 퍼널케익 하나에 토핑으로 딸기시럽을 얹었다.

딸기 건더기가 있을 줄 기대했지만 ㅎ 전혀...

We added strawberry syrup as a free topping.

I expected it to be real strawberries though XD

야심차게 구매한 플라밍고 돋자리 (라고 쓰고 식탁보라고 읽는다 ㅎ)

We bought the blanket before (which is a table cover lol.)

퍼널케익은 언제 먹어도 살찌는 맛. 남편은 너무 맛있다며 순식간에 헤치웠다.

자리를 정돈하고 공예품을 보러 떠났다.

Funnel cake always tastes fatty(means too good.)

My husband finished it so fast T_T

We left for arts and crafts.

즐길거리 3. 아트앤크래프트 Arts and Crafts

공예품이 생각보다 엄청 많았다. 수작업으로 직접 만든 물건들이기 때문에 비싸기도 하다.

Oh, there were more arts and crafts than I thought there would be!

They were handmade and so expensive

이 그림이 우리 화장실 벽에 걸면 딱이라서 사려고 가격표를 보고는 다시 그 마음을 고이 접어 내려놓음...

I thought the painting would be perfect for our bathroom.

I just forgot it after seeing the price tag ^^;

자석이면 사려고 했으나, 작은 손거울이었다.

I was gonna get this if it was a magnet. It was a mirror.

도자기 파는 분도 계셨는데 가격이 합리적이었다.

여기서 옥색 밥그릇을 샀는데 10달러인데도 불구하고 식기세척기, 전자레인지에도 사용할 수 있어서 더욱 마음에 들었다.

There were ceramics! The price was reasonable.

We bought an emerald bowl for 10 dollars which is microwavable, and dish washer safe.

공예품을 다 구경하고 바로 옆에 빈티지 자동차들을 구경하러 떠났다.

We looked at all crafts :)

즐길거리 4. 자동차전시 Car show

색깔부터 형형색색, 요즘에 보기 드문 자동차들이 엄청 많았다!

자동차 매니아라면 눈돌아갈 신세계

I had never seen this many vintage cars!

If you were car maniac? this place would be perfect.

자동차 후드도 열어서 안에 구경할 수 있는 이색 자동차도 있다.

You can see things under the hood too '-'

악어처럼 생긴 자동차.

Looks like an alligator.

이거는 유명한 캠핑카라고 한다.

Popular camping car

빈티지 자동차임에도 깨끗해서 거의 디피급처럼 보이는 자동차들이 많았다.

Even though they were old cars but they are still so clean and neat.

나도 언젠가 이렇게 큰 지프를 몰아보고 싶다. ㅎ

I hope to drive a jeep like this some day.

바로 옆에 연못?호수가 있어서 남편이 작은 돌 가지고 물 수제비뜨기 했는데 갑자기 야생 물고기 떼가 후루루루루 하고 물표면에 몰려들어서 깜짝놀랐다;

He tried skipping a flat stone onto the pond.

Suddenly a school of wild fish gathered to the surface. It was scary '';;

즐길거리 5. 골동품 전시 Old machines 

농사에 쓰이는 크래커들, 방직기등을 직접 체험해볼 수 있는 공간도 마련돼있다.

기름 냄새때문에 머리가 다소 아프긴 했지만..

앨라배마 디케이터 쥬빌리축제는 처음이었지만 즐길거리 볼거리가 상당히 많았던 축제였다. :)

가족단위로 놀러오기에 좋은 장소인 듯 하다.

There were some tractors, spinning machine displayed too.

Their gas caused me to get a headache though.

The festival had a lot of things to do and see.

Perfect place for families!
