4th of July Chattanooga Fireworks :: 미국 독립기념일 채터누가 불꽃축제

미국 독립기념일은 연방공휴일로써, 미국이 영연방으로부터 독립하여 1776년 7월 4일 미국 독립선언이 채택된 것을 기념하는 날이다.

주로 불꽃놀이를 한다고 생각하면 됨.

Fourth of July is a federal holiday in the US commemorating the adoption of the declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

It was declared that the united states were no longer parts of the british empire.

미국에 오고 처음 인디펜던스 데이를 맞는 거라 멋진 불꽃놀이에 한뜻 기대감이 부풀어 있었다.

채터누가에서는 Pops on the river 라는 행사로 불리며 4th of July를 기념하여 테네시강변에서 불꽃놀이를 한다.

I was looking forward to my first fourth of july in america.

We found 'Pops on the River' event for independence day in chattanooga.

마침 또 7월 4일이 아닌 그 전날인 7월 3일에 열리는 거라 그 다음날 공휴일에 쉴 수 있어서 가기로 결정...!

Also it was held a day ahead of fourth of july. So we could rest next day.

채터누가 오기까지 우여곡절이 많았다. ㅜㅜ

그전날 까지만 해도 날씨가 흐림으로 되어 있었는데, 갑자기 먹구름이 스멀스멀 나오더니

급기야는 강풍에 차가 흔들리기까지하고 비가 쏟아져 앞이 잘 안보일 정도였다.

We were having a trouble on the way to Chattanooga.

Because the weather was supposed to be cloudy.

Suddenly it got worse and it started pouring and getting so windy.

우리 정말 가도 될까? 확신이 점점 떨어졌지만, 한번 끝까지 가보기로 했다 ^^;

We weren't sure if it was the right decision. But we just kept going.

다행이 채터누가 시내에 오니 날씨가 좀 맑아졌다.

공영주차장에 주차하고, 근처에 있는 Chilli's 에 가기로 했다.

남편이 곧 또 비가 올 거라 그래서.... (그러나 그닥 오지 않음 ㅎㅎ)

Fortunately when we got to Chattanooga, the weather got clear. 

We parked in a public parking lot and headed to Chilli's just next to the parking lot.

Skylar said it was going to rain a lot soon. (not really)

FAJITAS라는 메뉴를 처음 봤는데, 

주문하기 전 남편한테 어떻게 읽냐고 물어보길 잘했다.

하마터면 파지타라고 읽을 뻔.. (fㅓ히라)

I hadn't seen this dish named FAJITAS.

I asked him how to pronounce it.

I almost said it like "Fa-Ji-Ta" (It's pronounced "Fa-Hi-Ta")

나는 Mix & Match Fajitas에 seared Shrimp랑 steak를 시켰다.

주문할 때 사워크림 소스는 따로 빼주고, 고수는 넣지 말아달라고 했는데

그 종업원이 '고수가 들어가는 소스가 뭐뭐있지?'하고 한동안 고민하길래 친절하다 생각했더니 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

I ordered Mix & Match Fajitas Choose two.

I chose seared shrimp and steak.

I asked the server to put the sour cream on the side and no cilantro.

He was thinking about that what sauce has cilantro for seconds.

So I thought how professional he was.....BUT!!!!

본 메뉴에는 고수를 빼줬으나, 고수 들은 칠리랑 고수들은 토마토샐러드(살사)를 가져다 주었다.

그러면 그 종업원은 뭘 생각한거야-_-;

In the main dish there was no cilantro but in the chilly soup and salsa....

What would he even think about then '-'a

심지어 내 물에는 레몬 넣지 말아달라했는데 한참을 기다렸다가 가져다준 물에는 레몬까지 동동

스테이크 굽기는 어떻게 할지 물어보지도 않았다... 흠?

I asked him not to put a lemon in my water but he did.

He didn't ask me how well done i want my steak to be. =_=

칠리 레스토랑은 처음이었는데, 밥이랑 칠리까지 주는 줄 몰랐다.

팥처럼 생긴 스프는 꽤나 매콤했고 밥도 맛있었다...!

I hadn't been to Chilli's before so I didn't know i would get rice and chilly soup.

The soup was spicy and yummy.

남편이 주문한 Ribs, 그리고 내꺼에 또 딸려나온 또띠아 세트 (고수들은 토마토 ㅡ.ㅡ)

너무 양이 많아서 또띠아는 도저히 못먹었다.

Skylar ordered ribs combo with very spicy corn.

I got tortia dish. I couldn't finish my dishes.

(Skylar told me I was supposed mix every dish in the pan) 

배를 가득 채우니 이미 8시가 지난 시각...!

8시에 오케스트라가 시작할 예정이어서 부랴부랴 공연장소인 Coolidge Park로 이동했다.

It was almost at 8pm when we were done.

The orchestra started at 8 so we hurried to go to Coolidge Park.

채터누가 강변에는 2개 다리가 있는데, 하나는 자동차다리인 Chief John Ross Bridge이고

나머지 하나는 보행자 전용 다리인 Walnut street bridge이다.

There are two main bridges over the Tennessee river in Chattanooga.

One is for cars, Chief John Ross Bridge.

One is a pedestrian bridge, Walnut Street Bridge.

기분 좋게도 다리 위로 큰 무지개가 우리를 반겨주고 있었다. :)

불꽃놀이가 취소되지 않고 계속 진행할 거라는 기분 좋은 신호랄까~

There was a big rainbow over Walnut St. Bridge.

I took it for a signal that the event wouldn't be canceled.

자동차다리에도 인도(?)가 있어서 강을 건너갈 수 있지만, 자동차들 소음이 엄청나서

이 다리를 끝까지 건널 것인지, 아니면 보행자다리로 올라가서 불꽃놀이 자리를 찜할 것인지 고민의 고민...

You can walk across through Chief John Ross Bridge.

But cars make loud noises.

We were deciding either just go to coolidge park or stay at the pedestrian bridge.

결국 월넛스트릿으로 올라가기로 결정.

I finally made a decision for us which was going onto the bridge.

월넛스트릿 너머로 보이는 Coolidge 공원에는 이미 많은 사람들로 가득차있었고,

웅장한 오케스트라 음악들이 들려왔다.

The park was already so packed and we could hear the Orchestra.

강변에서 열리는 불꽃축제라 많은 요트들이 강에서 불꽃놀이 뷰를 위해 좋은 자리를 선점하고 있는 진기한 풍경(?)도 볼 수 있었다!!

Since the fireworks were visible on the river, there were a looot of boats parked on the river for the best view.

Chattanooga Orchestra - Let it go

많은 사람들이 캠핑의자를 가지고 와서 좋은 자리를 맡았는데,

우리는 의자도 없고 가져온 돗자리도 혹시 비가올까하여 차에다 두고왔다.

결국 불꽃놀이까지 서서 기다리는 걸로....ㅎㅎ

Every person brought a folding chair.

We didn't have chairs and we even left our blanket in the car.

So we had to wait for the fireworks standing.

'우리도 의자 가져올걸...'

'We should have borrowed my parent's folding chairs...'

축제가 예상대로 진행 중이라 들뜬 남편

He got excited about the event.

강변이라 혹시 추울까 했지만 딱 좋은 온도였다.산들 산들 불어오는 강바람에 여름의 따뜻한 온도까지 완벽했다.
There was a nice breeze with perfect temperature.
삼각대 설치해두고 불꽃놀이만을 기다리는 중...
I set up my tripod and waited on the fireworks.

유람선도 왔다갔다 하더니 나중에 강 위에 주차하고 불꽃놀이를 기다리더라.

나도 나중에 유람선에서 불꽃놀이 한번 보고 싶었다. 엄청 낭만적이다 *-_-*

The cruise ship was moving around and parked at some point for fireworks.

I hope I ride it one time for fireworks too. How romantic.

금세 날이 어둑해지더니, 갑자기 저 멀리서 커다란 불꽃이 터짐...!

It got dark soon and all the way in the back giant fireworks burst.

첫 불꽃이 너무 예뻤다.

남편이 자꾸 셔터스피드를 길게 열어두라고 그래서 사용법이 익숙치 않은데=_=

흔들리고 연기보이고 난리나긴 했지만... 동영상이 있으니까 (위안)

The first fireworks were so pretty.

Skylar kept nagging me to leave the shutter speed long.

When I was not used to that -_- So the pictures turned out to be not the best. 

But I still have good videos.....

독립기념일이라 하면은 인디펜던스데이라고 많이 불릴 것 같은데

의외로 여기에선 4th of July라는 말로 더 많이 불리는 듯 했다.

I thought the day would be called 'independence day' most of the times.

But it seemed to be called 'fourth of july' more often.

채터누가 테네시강변에서 열리는 Pop on the river에 오고 싶었던 이유 중 하나는,

서울에는 큰 강인 한강이 있어서 매년 큰 불꽃놀이가 열린다.

The biggest reason why I wanted to come to Chattanooga was that

It could look similar to Seoul's fireworks festival.

There is a big river -Han gang- in Seoul and international fireworks festival is held every year on the river.

사람들이 정말 너무너무너무너무 몰려서 불꽃놀이 6시간 전에 가서 자리를 맡아야 할 정도로

미어터져서 10년 동안 살았지만 한번도 가볼 엄두가 나지 않았었다.

It's crazily packed there so you even need to go 6 hours ahead of the time if you wanna take some spots to sit.

I didn't dare try to go there for almost ten years while I was staying in Seoul.

채터누가도 강이 있어서 서울의 불꽃놀이 풍경과 비슷할 것 같아서 꼭 가보고 싶었었다.

So anyways I thought Chattanooga fireworks could look similar to Seoul one.

불꽃 중에는 하트모양도 있었는데 너무나 깜찍한 모습 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

One of the fireworks looked like a cute heart.

어떤 불꽃들은 하늘 높~이 쏴 올려서 더 멋지기도 했다.

Some fireworks went higher.

남편이 곧 피날레라고 동영상 준비하라고 해서 부랴부랴 찍은 마지막 불꽃쇼!!!

My husband told me to get ready to film the grand finale.

역시 불꽃놀이의 꽃은 피날레가 아닐까.

엄청나게 터뜨리는 불꽃 세례에 보는 사람들이 다같이 황홀해졌다 *_*

Grand finale is the best of course.

Last fireworks were magnificent.

생각보다 짧은 불꽃놀이었지만, 그래도 오길 잘했다고 생각이 드는 채터누가 불꽃놀이었다.

It was kind of short but still I was glad I got to go check it out.
