2018 미국 남부 알라바마 주 뒷마당 텃밭 정리하기

Ready For Gardening 2018!

작년 늦가을 이후로 정원 정리를 한번도 하지 않은 상태여서

겨우내 죽은 식물들이 가득한 채로 뒷마당을 방치해뒀었다.

그러다 뜻밖에도 죽은 줄 알았던 러시안 세이지가 잎사귀를 다시 내어 조만간 다시 정리를 해야겠거니 했다.

Our backyard was full of dead plants through the winter.

And we saw the russian sage coming back to life!

넷플릭스에 Big Dreams Small Spaces 라는 영국 정원 관련 쇼를 보고는

급 뒷마당 정원을 정리해야겠다는 생각이 들었다.

남편의 도움으로 치운게 저 정도임 ㅎㅎ

We were putting off organizing the whole mess.

We watched this show -Big Dreams Small Spaces- on Netflix, it was about advising gardening.

We finally determined to clean up the mess.

화분이 너무 많아서 쌓아두기만 했는데도 거의 탑을 이룰 정도였으니~

치우기 전 뒷마당 상태는 어마무시했다는 얘기

We throw away a lot of soils and dead plants.

You can tell the scale by the stack of empty pots.

잠옷바람으로 뒷마당 흙도 좀 쓸어주고

And I sweeped soil on the ground, 

우연찮게 발견한 지렁이들은 내 화분 속으로 넣어줬다.

found some earthworms and move them into my pots.

그렇게 나름 깔끔하게 정리한 우리집 뒷마당

작은 정원 같아도 정리 한번 싹 했더니 땀이 나서 샤워해야 했다.

Finally our backyard became clean and tidy!

It might look very small but it took a lot of energy even to clean it.

I got so sweaty that I had to take a shower afterwards.

러시안 세이지는 단독 화분으로 옮겨주었다.

여기서 계속 자라게 할 예정

I moved the russian sage into this pot.

러시안 세이지 옆 붉은 화분에는 대량의 백일홍들로 추정되는 새싹들이 돋아나고 있다.

In the red pot there are tons of sprouts, I assumed they are zinnia.

Because I literally poured the seeds that my mother in law gave me last year.

이건 내가 심어둔 한국 상추 새싹이다.

I planted some korean lettuce seeds too!

They are growing already.

이 처참한 모양새의 식물들은 바로 올리브 나무인데

실내에서 아주 척박하게 기르다보니 거의 죽었다고 봐도 무방하다 ㅠㅠ

그래도 혹시 살 수도 있지 않을까 싶어서 날씨도 좀 따뜻해졌길래 옮겨 심어봤다.

These awful looking plants are olive trees.

I was having them indoor in poor soil.

They are basically dead now.

But I'm taking chance they could get alive outdoor hopefully...

시부모님이 여행가시는 동안 돌봤던 루시

Moving to our parent's in law's back yard,

밖에서 놀다가도 "루시!!"하고 부르면 용케도 집에 온다

We took care of Lucy while they were on a trip.

As soon as we called out her name, she showed up.

바깥냥과 집안냥 그 사이에 있는 그녀

우리는 시부모님이 오시기 전까지 루시를 차고 안에 모셔다 드렸다. ㅋㅋ

She is neither an outdoor cat or indoor cat.

She is between them lol.

We escorted her to the garage with food.

벚꽃도 핀 우리 동네 모습

알라바마의 3월은 완연한 봄이 온 듯한 날씨다.

Spring has come here in Alabama!
