 뉴욕 메트로폴리탄 미술관 

뉴욕 여행의 마침표를 찍은 곳은 바로 뉴욕 메트로폴리탄 미술관. 스카일러가 워낙 가보고 싶어하기도 해서 나는 어떤 작품이 전시되어 있는지 정보 1도 없이 따라나선 곳이었다.

Our last destination was the MET -Metropolitan Museum of Art-. Skylar wanted to go there so bad, even though I had no idea what kind of exhibitions they had, I just included this place in our trip.

입장하자마자 반갑게 보이던 한국말 안내책자와 영어책자를 하나씩 손에 쥐고 티켓 발권기에서 티켓을 구매 후 가슴팍에 입장 스티커를 붙였다. 저 스티커만 있으면 3일 연속으로 추가요금 없이 입장이 가능하다고 한다.

As soon as we walked in, we spotted Korean guide maps! Skylar handed me one and got an English one for himself. We bought two tickets with this machine and put the sticker tickets on our chests. With this sticker you can go to the museum for three days in a row with no extra pay.

이집트 유물 유적에 관한 전시만 해도 엄청 방대했다. 이집트 유물을 시작으로 둘러보자고 했는데 정말 자세히 보자면 하루도 넘게 걸릴 수 있는 작품 수였다. 한국어로도 작품 설명해주는 오디오 서비스도 있던데 그걸 미처 알지 못했던 게 아쉬웠다.

We got started with the Egyptian section. They had numerous historical objects. It could take a day if we saw them in detail. They had Korean audio guide service. I should have known about this before.

그 다음으로 방문한 곳은 아시아관이었는데 이집트 관에 비하면 현저히 관객 수가 줄어들어서 전세낸 듯 돌아다닐 수 있다.

We headed to the Asian art section on the second floor. Suddenly there were much fewer people there lol.

관람 테마별로 유물 전시가 잘 되어있었다. 마치 내가 그 나라 유적지에 와 있는 것처럼 전시해두었다.

They had structures which represent each culture and it made us feel like we were in the countries.

The reason why we hurried to go to the Asian section was to see the Korean arts.

자개류부터 불상까지 엄청 화려하진 않지만 한국인의 소박하면서도 정교한 미를 볼 수 있었다.

They had a few items from lacquerware inlaid with mother-of-pearl to Buddha vairocana. We could see Korean's simple and elaborate style.

일본 전시만 해도 어마어마 했다. 이 곳을 다둘러보고 허기가 져서 메트로폴리탄 안에 있는 식당에 들려 끼니를 해결하기로 했다.

Japanese section had a lot of items. We looked around their exhibitions and got so hungry. We had lunch in the MET.

아래 쪽에 있는 카페에서 커피를 마시고 미술관 밖에 잠깐 나갔다 왔는데 얼마나 더웠는지.. 햇살이 너무 강렬해서 다시 미술관으로 왔을 때 안도감까지 들었다. ㅋㅋ

After lunch, we had some coffee down at the coffee shop. We went out of the museum and it was so hot and sunny outside, we were so glad to be back lol.

악기가 전시된 관에서는 스카일러가 고등학교 밴드부에서 연주했던 색소판 앞에서 기념사진도 한 장 남겼다.

Skylar used to play saxophone in high school & college. So we took one photo in front of the instrument.

스카일러가 가장 고대하던 전시는 아무래도 서양 중세 갑옷 및 무기 전시관이었다. 엄청나게 들떠 이 곳 저 곳 들림

Skylar's favorite exhibition was Arms & Armor. He was so excited to see every single thing lol

어느새 우리가 떠나야 할 시간이 다 되어 우버를 타고 라과디아 공항으로 돌아왔다. 이렇게 5박 6일의 두번째 뉴욕 여행이 끝났다 :) 사실 내가 포스팅한 장소 말고도 군데 군데 더 많이 돌아다녔지만 가끔은 사진 찍기보다 그 순간에 머물고 싶어서 사진이 많이 남아있지 않는 경우도 있었다. 언제 또 다시 올 지는 모르겠지만 두번다녀왔다고 벌써 뉴욕이 친근해진 느낌이 든다. 사랑하는 남편과 이곳 저곳 다닐 수 있는게 정말 행복하다. 계속 이렇게 건강하게 오래오래 친구처럼 여행다니는 게 우리 목표다 :)

It was about time for us to leave for home. We took Uber to Laguardia airport. We went to more places than I posted on my blog. Sometimes I would rather stay in the moment than take photos. I am not sure when we will be back to New York City, since we have been there twice, I feel more familiar with the city. I am lucky to go to places with my husband. We just want to stay how we are now and go to different places together <33
