내쉬빌 워터파크 사운드웨이브

1주년 결혼기념일은 다운타운 애틀랜타에서 보냈는데 어느덧 결혼 2주년이 돌아와 어디로 여행지를 고를 지 고민했다. 마침 개이로드 오프리랜드에 워터파크인 사운드웨이브가 개장한다는 소식을 듣고 빨리 방문해보고 싶다는 생각이 들었다. 개인적으로 워터파크를 선호하지 않는 이유 중 하나가 위생 문제 때문인데 이제 막 오픈한 곳이라면 청결에 신경을 많이 썼을 것 같았고 또 아직 많이 오염(?) 되기 전이라는 생각도 들어서였다.
We had our first anniversary in downtown Atlanta. We were looking for a place for our second anniversary and remembered there was a water park opening at Gaylord Opryland. I don't personally like to go to water parks because I don't think it's clean. But since it just opened 1-2 months ago, I thought it should be still clean enough. I wanted to give it a try when it's still new.
체크인할때 사운드웨이브 전용 팔찌를 받는다. 이 팔찌를 가지고 기계에 대면 입장가능할 수 있게 문이 열린다. *_* 입장밴드만 있으면 숙박기간 동안 워터파크 개장시간이라면 언제든 드나들 수 있다.
We get wristbands for the water park at check-in. You put them in these machines and opens the door for you. You can come back to the water park as long as you stay at the hotel.
우리가 간 날이 토요일이라 그랬는지 생각보다 정말 많은 인원이 있었다. 겨울이지만 히터를 가동해서 여름같은 기온이었고, 모든 천장이 유리로 되어있어 햇빛이 고스란히 들어오기 때문에 선크림을 꼭 발라주어야 한다. 스카일러는 깜박했지만 다행이 우리가 간 날이 구름이 좀 끼어있어서 피부가 탈 정도는 아니었다.
The place was pretty packed when we got there. Probably because it was Saturday. They ran the heaters so much that the temperature in there was warm and humid. The whole ceilings were glass so you might get sunburned if you are not wearing sunscreen on a sunny day. Skylar put on sunscreen but it was cloudy.
워터파크 시설 중에 단연 인기가 가장 높았던 플로우 라이더, 보드 가지고 서핑체험하는 거다. 남편은 이게 제일 기대됐는지, 바로 도전을 해보더라. 인당 2번의 기회가 주어지고 인기가 많은 만큼 줄이 꽤나 길었다. 우리는 30분 넘게 기다렸던 것 같음. 줄을 서기 전에 안전에 관한 안내문을 읽고 서명을 받는 것 같았다. 그럼 펭귄 밴드를 추가로 얻을 수 있음 *_*
This surfing attraction was the most popular one. Skylar was looking forward to this and he signed the safety waver and waited in line for more than 30 minutes. You get this penguin band only for this attraction.
오랜 기다림 끝에 드디어 도전한 스카일러! 우리 둘다 오래 버틸 거라곤 기대안했는데 막상 해보니 첫 시도임에도 불구하고 많이 버텼다. 안내원이 박수도 쳐주면서 응원해줬다는. 생각보다 첫 시도가 오래가서 두번째 기회는 도전하지 않고 다른 사람에게 바로 양보하기로 했다. 스카일러가 엄청 만족했던 놀이기구
Finally Skylar's turn came. Neither of us expected him to last that long, but he was pretty good at it. The lifeguard even cheered him on clapping. So he gave up the second chance for the kids in line. Skylar was happy with this surfing experience.

03 푸드코트에서 점심 Decibel, Cafeteria
이곳 저곳 슬슬 돌아다니다보니 배가 출출해져 점심은 워터파크 내에 위치한 데시벨이라는 카페테리아에서 해결했다. 물론 이런 곳에 있는 식당은 비싸고 맛도 없기 마련인데, 그래도 여긴 가격은 꽤 하지만 양도 엄청 많고 맛도 좋아서 나름 추천하는 식당이다. 솔직히 양과 질보고 우리 둘다 놀랐다. ㅎㅎ 아, 여기서 먹기 위해서는 신용카드가 있어야한다. 입장밴드로 계산하는 경우는 못봤고 우리는 카드로 계산했다.
We were wondering around and got hungry. We came to this cafeteria in the water park. Normally for a place like this, you overpay for not good food. But here, we did pay more for the foods, but we got what we paid for. The amount was a lot and the food was really good.
주문과 동시에 결제를 하고 자리를 잡고, 내쉬빌 특성이 잘 묻어나는 번호표를 테이블 위에 두면 서버가 음식을 가져다준다.
You take a table after you order & pay and place your order number stand on the table, then a server brings you food.
우리가 주문한 음식은 치즈버거와 그릴 샌드위치. 사이드를 무료로 선택할 수 있고 우리는 감자칩을 선택했다. 음료는 무한 리필! 둘 다 재료가 듬뿍 들어가있어서 꿀맛이었음
We got a bacon cheese burger and grilled sandwich. The side dishes were free so we got potato chips and fried potatoes.
04 성인용 인피니트 풀 Adults-Only Pool
어린이 전용 풀장도 있는 반면, 반대편에는 성인들을 위한 칵테일 바 공간과 인피니트 풀이 마련되어 있다. 우린 낮에 가서 술을 마셔볼 생각은 안하고, 그냥 높은 곳에 위치한 풀장은 어떻게 생겼나 구경하러 왔다. 딱 술 한잔 하면서 편하게 쉬기 좋게 되어있다. 인피니트 풀장이라해도 가까이서 보면 그렇게 멋지지는 않다는,,
There was an exclusive adults-only pool with a bar. We went up to see what their infinite pool looked like. It seemed good for relaxing.
05 레이지 & 래피드 리버 Lazy & Rapid River
레이지 리버는 튜브를 타고 몸을 맡기면 느린 물살을 즐길 수 있는 곳으로 사운드웨이브에 들어가서 첫번째로 우리가 몸풀기(?)를 한 곳이다. 레이지리버나 래피드리버나 처음에 발을 담글 때는 물이 약간 차갑다고 느낄 수 있는데 한동안 있다보면 조금 따뜻하다고 느낄 수 있는 온도.
Lazy river is a slow water flow pool and you do tubing there. This was the first attraction we tried at SoundWaves. Lazy and Rapid Rivers water feels a bit cold at first but it gets warm when you are there long enough.

우리 둘다 제일 좋아했던 시설은 바로 래피드 리버라고, 물에 떠있으면 빠른 물살로 수영하는 것보다 더 빨리 떠다닐 수 있는 곳이다. ㅋㅋ 구명조끼를 꼭 입고 들어가기를 추천하는게 몸이 물에 더 잘 떠서 물살을 더 재밋게 즐길 수 있다.
We both really liked the rapid river. You can go faster there than you swim. I highly recommended wearing the life jacket. You can go faster and easier with it.

중간에 강력한 폭포도 있는데 스카일러는 꼭 한바뀌마다 폭포 아래로 들어갔다. -_- 나는 이런 거 아파서 별로 안좋아함 ㅋㅋ
There is a water fall in the middle of the river. Every round, Skylar tried to stop by. I didn't like it very much. lol

워터파크 최대의 묘미인 슬라이드! 내쉬빌 사운드웨이브에는 총 3가지 종류의 슬라이드가 있다. 4-5인용 대형 슬라이드, 1인용 슬라이드 그리고 1-2인용 슬라이드인데 대형 슬라이드를 제외하고는 각 2개씩 설치되어 있고 살짝씩 다르다.
They have 3 different slides. One for 4-5 people, one for single person and one for 1-2 people. Except the biggest one, the others have 2 sets.
위쪽에 있는게 대형 슬라이드로 4-6인용, 슬라이드가 인기가 많은 만큼 줄을 서야한다. 계단 아래에 모여있는 튜브가 1인용, 2인용이 있는데 2인용은 인기가 많아서 눈치껏 구해야했다. 운이 좋아서 2인용인 8자모양 튜브 득템에 성공 ㅎㅎ
To use the 1-2 ppl slides, you need to find a tube. There are 2 kinds of tubes. One is for single and the other one for two people. We were kind of lucky to have a 2 people tube. It's more popular.
계단 위로 오르면 두가지 종류가 있는데 오른쪽 슬라이드가 인기가 많은 이유는 더 스릴이 넘쳐서 이다. 왼쪽에 줄이 없어서 그쪽으로 그냥 줄 서도 되는데 경험하고 나면 왜 오른쪽 슬라이드가 더 인기가 있는지 알게 된다. 안전을 위해서 스위치가 초록불로 변할 때 안전요원이 내려보내준다.
When we got up to the top of the stairs, there were two same looking slides. The reason why there was a long line only for the right one was because the right slide is more thrilling. The safeguard lets you go when the light turns to green.
우리는 처음 경험한게 바로 이 1-2인용 슬라이드였다. 속도도 빨라서 몸을 최대한 뒤로 젖히고 물도 많이 튄다. 그리고 중간에 룹이 있어서 원형으로 도는 공간도 있었다. 이 슬라이드보다 더 빠른 건 싱글 슬라이드였는데 스카일러는 재밌다며 2번은 혼자 더 타러갔다. 나는 그건 너무 빨라서 무서웠음 ㅠㅠ
We didn't know there is a difference between the left and right one and tried the scarier one first. It splashes a lot of water and is curvy so you gotta make sure to lean back as far as possible. There was a loop at the middle point and it goes round twice.
08 사운드웨이브를 떠나며 ...? To review
슬라이드도 여러번 타고 지친 우리는 호텔방으로 향했다. 출입구 근처에 대형 건조기가 있어서 옷을 말릴 수도 있었다.
After riding many attractions, we got tired and headed to our hotel room. There was a big dryer machine near the exit.
이제 곧 야외 풀장도 개장된다던데 그때 되면 얼마나 더 커질지 기대가 된다. 그러면서도 나는 워터파크 체질이 아닌지 이번 한번으로 만족하려고 한다. 아이가 있는 가족단위에게는 정말 강추하는 곳. 옆에서 보니 아이들이 파라다이스에 온 것 처럼 엄청 신나했다. ㅋㅋThey are going to open an outdoor pool soon and I am sure it's going to be only more popular! Meanwhile me and Skylar are happy with this one time experience. But we do recommend this place for a family with kids. We saw so many kids excited and acting like they were in paradise lol.
