글로벌팬데믹 상황이 계속되고 있지만, 미국 남부 앨라배마 주에서는 얼마 전 락다운을 해제하고 상대적으로 가벼운 권고를 하고 있다. 나와 스카일러는 외출할 때 늘 마스크를 착용하고 있고 이렇게 날씨 좋은 날 야외에 위치한 화원은 괜찮을 것 같아서 다녀왔는데 가드닝센터 로우스를 제외하고 처음으로 미국 로컬 화원에 간건데 너무너무 마음에 들어서 소개하고자 한다. 스크롤의 압박이 있음 :)

Skylar and I checked out this local garden center in Huntsville today. I loved the place so much that I wanted to post about it.

헌츠빌 동쪽 외곽에 위치한 화원, The Greenery. 매번 운전하면서 지나치기만 했지 직접 가볼 생각은 여태 안해봤다. 오늘은 날이 좋아, 이 곳 로컬 화원에 뭐가 있는지 스카일러와 다녀왔다.

This local nursery "The Greenery" is in South East Huntsville. We passed by this place many times, but didn't really think about going in. Finally we did today.

주차 하고 입구로 들어오면 야외공간에 콘크리트 화분, 분수 등 조형물들이 전시되어 있다. 이런 것들은 특히나 깨지기 쉽고 값이 나가기 때문에 좋은 로컬 화원에서만 다양한 종류를 볼 수 있다.

Once you get in the entrace, you can see so many different concrete pieces such as fountains, benches, pots and birdbaths.

정말 마음에 들었던 콘크리트 동물 장식품들! 저 수탉은 진짜 나중에 꼭 하나 사고 싶다 ㅠㅠㅠ💕
I really liked their concrete animal decorations. My favorite was the rooster. I really want to have one in my flower bed someday.

콘크리트 장식 공간을 지나면 이런 비밀의 화원같은 곳이 나온다. 이곳엔 여러가지 모양 & 색깔의 도자기 화분들이 있었다.

Once you pass that area, you can find this sorta secret garden area with many ceramic pots.

이 곳은 온실인데 일년초들, 다육이들, 대체로 따뜻한 기후를 좋아하는 식물들이 즐비해있다. 눈이 팽팽팽 돌아감 $_$

And then we went to this greenhouse. It was full of succulents and annuals. I was so excited.

이 오른쪽 구석에 깻잎같은 잎사귀를 가진 식물 이름이 콜레우스인데, 저 빨간 깻잎같은 식물 3개 샀다 :)

I ended up buying the three coleus on the bottom right of the photo above.

온실 끝부분에는 관목들이 있는 장소로 갈 수 있게 되어 있다.

At the corner of the greenhouse, there is a way to their shrub house.

그 통로에는 흙, 멀치, 살충제? 그리고 재미있는 이끼 악세사리 등이 있었다.

Between the greenhouse and the shrub house, there were insect solutions, fertilizers, soils, mulches and funny moss planters.

이 곳이 관목 식물이 있는 곳인데 눈을 사로잡는 큰 히비스커스부터 다양한 종류의 장미들이 있었다!!! 처음 보는 장미가 많아서 너무 신기했다.

This is the shrub house. There were big Hibiscus and so many varieties of roses. I hadn't seen most of the roses before.

기존에 장미가 별로 없었더라면 여기서 몇그루 엎어갔겠지만, 이미 집에 데이비드오스틴 장미가 차고 넘친다; ㅎ 그래서 이번 년도에는 패스~!

I would have bought some of these roses if I didn't have roses already, but I have plenty at home. So not this year.

다른 쪽에는 수국 여러종류가 있었다. 정말 정말 많은 종류가 있어서 마치 식물원에 온 것인가 하는 착각까지 들었다 ㅎ

And the other side of the shrub house, there were lots of hydrangeas. There were so many varieties of them, I almost felt like I was in a botanical garden!

엄청난 크기의 수국! 실제로 보면 정말 크다. 아주 건강해보이고, 크기가 엄청나서 나중에 수국 심을 일이 있다면 이 화원에 와서 살 것이다.

Their hydrangeas were available in big sizes. For example, this particular hydrangea was 3 gallons for $35. I would want to get some here when I need hydrangeas.

관목 비닐하우스를 나오면, 채소 모종들이 보인다. 엄청 많아보이는데도, 이미 많이 팔리고 남은 애들일듯. 왜냐면 토마토 말고는 다른 종류가 별로 남아있지 않았었다.

You can find vegetables outside of the shrub house. There were some left but you could tell most were already gone.

이토작약은 구근으로 구입해도 엄청 비싼데 이렇게 화분에서 이미 충분한 크기로 자란 건 훨씬 더 비싸다! 이것도 거의 10만원 값이니 ㅎ 이 종류의 이토작약은 처음인데 구글에서 쳐보니까 꽃이 정말로 예쁘다. :) 로컬 화원의 장점 중 하나가 바로 흔하지 않은 식물들을 찾을 수 있다는 건데, 로우스에서는 작약을 이렇게 팔지 않는다. (적어도 우리 지점은.) 근데 이 곳 로컬화원에는 여러 종류의 작약이 있었다.

Itoh peony bareroots themselves are expensive. But this one was grown big in a pot, so the price was even higher. I didn't know of this Itoh variety. When I googled this variety, it looked really pretty in bloom! They had different peonies with more reasonable prices as well.

그 옆으로 일본 단풍나무들이 있다. 우리 지역에서 보기 어려운 Autumn Moon Japanese Maple 도 보이고, 키 작은 공작단풍 뿐만 아니라 블러드굿도 정말이지 많았다. 난 블러드굿을 로우스에서 샀는데 (아마 이 종류가 보편적으로 인기가 많은듯) 가격은 로우스가 훨씬 나았다 ㅎㅎㅎ

There were many Japanese maples too. I was amazed to find an Autumn Moon Japanese Maple on sale. (Kinda rare to find offline) They also have a huge load of Bloodgood Japanese maples. I bought one from Lowe's. I guess this variety is pretty popular with Americans. Lowe's ones had a better price.

일본 단풍 옆으로 쭈우욱 나열된 나무들! 사계절 푸르른 나무들 종류가 정말 많았고 특히나 바로 위 난쟁이 침엽수는 너무 귀여웠다. 다음에 가면 꼭 사야지.

And you can find many many evergreens next to the maple trees! I especially loved this dwarf conifer so much. I might buy one next time I come here.

식물 뿐만 아니라 가드닝 전반적인 악세사리도 파는데, 새집이 정말 귀여웠다!!! 가격은 안 귀여움.

This garden center also had a little indoor shop with cute gardening accessaries. Their bird houses were adorable.

결국 마지막에 사온 식물들. 콜리우스 3개, 아이비 2개, 아프리칸바이올렛 3개, 콘크리트 화분 3개! 하나 하나 다 마음에 듬;;; 만족도 100000%

These were the plants we bought. 3 Coleus, 2 Ivies, 3 African Violets and 3 concrete pots. I love every single thing.

계산대에 아주머니가 식물들 담아주면서 완전 잘 골랐다며; 색깔 조화가 너무 예쁘다고 칭찬해주셨다. 아주머니가 임시로 아이비를 화분에 넣어주셨는데 그게 또 너무 잘 어울렸음 ㅎ 이렇게 보니 내가 버건디 색을 좋아하나 싶기도 하고?

When we checked out, the cashier lady boxed our plants and she complemented on my choice of plants and the color palette. She temporarily placed ivies in the concrete pots and they looked really nice.

우리가 흙도 샀는데 이렇게 드라이브스루로 지나가면 트렁크에 우리가 산 흙을 옮겨주셨다. 와우 :P

We also purchased a bag soil. They have a drive-thru service and when we passed this area, they loaded the soil in our trunk. How convenient....!

아프리칸 바이올렛은 전에 키워본 적이 없었는데 실내용 식물이라고 한다. 검색해보니 고양이나 강아지에게도 독성 없는 안전한 식물이라 안심이다. (아이비는 주의 필요!) 하나 하나 다 너무 예쁨 ㅠ ㅠ

I haven't had African Violets before so I didn't know they were indoor plants. Thankfully they are safe for cats and dogs. (Not Ivies) They are all pretty.... <3

집 안에 들여놓기 위해 식물들을 새로 산 화분으로 옮겨주고 새 흙으로 채워줬다.

Before I move them into the house, I transplanted them into the new pots and filled with new soil.

아프리칸 바이올렛은 잎사귀에 물이 닿으면 잎이 타는 현상이 생긴다고 한다. 그래서 저면관수로 물을 주는 게 좋다고 해서 싱크대에 물을 받고 한 10분 정도 놔두었다.

If African Violets' leaves are touched with water, that can leave burn marks. So it is highly recommended to water them from the bottom. I filled the sink with one inch high water and let the plants soak for 10 minutes.

이 화분 존예인데 실내용으로 쓸지 모르고 화분 받침은 살 생각 못함..;ㅎ

일조량이 아주 중요한데 직광은 안된다해서 유일하게 햇빛이 잘 들어오는 구역이 안방 화장실이라 ^^;; 거기에 두기로 했다.

Also another imporant thing about African Violets is proper light exposure. They don't like direct sunlight. Our master bathroom was the only option that could meet this condition lol.

빨간 콜레우스는 집 앞 화단에 심기로 결정했다.

The three coleus were planted in the front flower bed.

심고난 후 모습 :) 휴케라와 호스타와 함께 아주 알록달록한 잎사귀 식물 존이다.

Voila! This is my colorful foliage zone.

요즘 푹 빠져있는 식물이 바로 델피늄이다. 이 식물은 로우스에서 구입하고 이 화단 앞쪽에 심었는데 완벽하다!! 보라색 꽃이 흔치 않은데 이 델피늄이 아래서부터 쭈우욱 피어 올라가는게 너무 예쁘다.

OMG. I gotta introduce this amazing plant in this post lol. This is Delphinium. I bought this at Lowe's. Where it's planted can't be more perfect! I love their flowers and the way they bloom from the bottom to the top.
