[미국일상] 앨라배마 무료 낚시데이 Free Fishing Day, 2020

작년 파더스데이에 낚시를 하러 다같이 갔다가 피싱라이센스를 발급받는데에 어려움이 있어서 나는 낚시를 할 수 없었다. 미국 앨라배마 주에서 낚시를 하려면 Fishing License 라고, 이름은 거창하지만 (시험 없이) 돈 주고 낚시 이용권을 사면 된다. 보통은 State Park Fishing Center에서 앨라배마 운전면허증을 보여주면 시스템에 신원정보를 입력해주고 간단히 발급받을 수 있는데, 나같은 경우 외국인인지라 앨라배마 레지던스가 아니라서, 인터넷으로 따로 추가적인 정보를 입력해야지 발급받을 수 있다고 한다. (피싱센터에서는 안 해줬음. 온라인만 가능한듯) 아무튼 너무 절차가 복잡해지는 것 같아 한동안 낚시 생각을 접었는데 시부모님께서 올해 무료 피싱데이가 6월 13일 토요일이라고 피싱라이센스 없이 누구나 낚시를 할 수 있다고해서 따라나섰다.

Me and Skylar's family went out to fishing on Father's day last year. I couldn't buy a fishing license at the fishing center since I was not technically Alabama residence but Korean citizen. I could have bought it online but it got more complicated than I thought. My parent's in law suggested to fish on a free fishing day. Anyone can fish without a fishing license on this day. Free fishing day of this year was on June 13. I decided to try fishing for the first time.

Guntersville State Park 가는 길

 

 

우리 시부모님은 낚시하는 걸 좋아하셔서 테네시강이 흐르는 건터스빌 근처로 종종 낚시를 하러 가신다. 무료 낚시날인지라 많이 붐빌 것을 대비해서 시부모님은 이른 아침 8시부터 채비를 하시고, 좋은 자리를 선점해두셨다. 나와 스카일러도 곧 바로 낚시터에 도착했다.

My in laws like fishing. They go near Guntersville lake to fish. Since it was free to fish, we expected many people there. So my parents left home early in the morning to claim a good fishing spot. Skylar and I followed them an hour later.

 

 

 

나는 한국에서도 낚시를 해본 적이 없어서 모든게 생소했는데, 시엄마가 하나부터 친절하게 알려주셨다. 처음엔 낚시줄을 던지는 것도 뚝딱거렸지만 ㅋㅋ 이내 적응이 곧 되었다. 또 지렁이 만지는게 징그러워서 처음엔 도움을 받았지만 나중엔 내 스스로 지렁이 몸통에 낚시바늘을 꿰었다. (미안..ㅠㅠ;)

I hadn't fished even in Korea, everything was new to me. My mother in law taughted me how to use a fishing rod. I was too scared to touch earthworms at first, but I eventually hooked them through a fishing hook later on myself.

우리가 낚시한 Guntersville State Park에서는 송어, 크래피, 메기, 배스, 등등 한국의 물고기와는 사뭇 다른 생김새의 물고기들도 많이 찾아볼 수 있다. 특히 배스 낚시가 아주 유명해서 매년 배스토너먼트(누가누가 큰 배스 잡나~)도 열리고 상금도 쏠쏠하다.

In Guntersville State Park -where we fished- there are many different kinds of fish such as Bluegills, Crappies, Bass and Catfish. They look quite exotic to me. (look different from common Korean fish)  Guntersville lake is famous for its annual Bass tournament. It has big prize.

나같이 낚시 새내기는 아무 물고기나 잡혀도 땡큐베리감사; 아직까지 낚시줄을 되감는게 어색해서 물고기가 한번 물었다 싶으면 거의 줄다리기 식으로 끌어올렸으나^^; 내 생애 처음 낚시 치고 네마리나 잡았다는게 아주 자랑스러웠다. 이거 이거 낚시에 맛들린 거 아닌가 싶은데....ㅎ 내가 잡은건 꽤나 크기가 컸던 블루길이라는 송어 종류와 애기 크래피. (도로 강가에 놓아줌)
I didn't anticipate to catch any fish. Actually I caught four fish on my first fishing day. Even though I was still not used to reeling a fish back quickly enough, I basically pulled my fishing reel lol, but I did catch a few. I caught two Bluegills and two crappies.

 

 

 

어느덧 점심 시간이 되어, 그늘에서 삼겹살을 구어먹기로 했다. 지난 번 H Mart에서 사온 냉동 삼겹살 한 팩을 가져왔는데 채식주의자인 시동생이 보고는 군대도 먹여 살릴 수 있는 양을 가져왔다고 그랬다, ㅋㅋ; 나와 스카일러 뿐만 아니라 시부모님도 상추에 삼겹살과 쌈장을 곁들여서 드셨다. 내가 생각했던 것보다 양이 많이 남아서, 2차로 집에서 군대 삼겹살을 다 구어서 나랑 스카일러 둘이서 헤치웠다. ㅎ

At a lunch time, we set up a Korean portable grill on the back of my father in law's truck. We cooked frozen porkbelly on it. I bought the porkbelly at H mart in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. My sister in law thought that amount I brought was for army. lol. My parents in law got to eat some porkbelly with Korean bean sauce -Ssam Jang- with lettuce. We packed the rest and brought it back home and grilled all of it. Skylar and I finished it, wow :D

 

 

 

날씨가 아주 화창해서 낚시를 하러 서있는 내내 내 몸은 거의 익어가고 있었다. 다음에 하게 된다면, 몸을 아주 꽁꽁 다 싸매고 해야할 것 같다. 팔과 다리가 빨갛게 익어서 집에가서 알로에를 발라봤지만 자국이 남았다. 그래도 시댁식구들과 보람찬 하루를 보내서 기쁘다 😀

It was a sunny day. My arms and feet got sunburned while fishing. I would cover my whole body next time I fish and come prepared. But I really enjoyed spending time with my in laws.
