이번에도 시부모님이 먼저 이 근처 개즈든에 지역축제가 있다는 걸 알려주셨다.

매달 첫째주 금요일 저녁 6시부터 9시까지 개즈든 시내에서 소비촉진을 도모하고 지역경제 내수활성화를 위해 열리는 행사다.

My mother and father in law told us that there is a small community event in Gadsden.

It's held every first friday of the month 6pm to 9pm in downtown Gadsden 

to foster and revitalize the economic development of downtown Gadsden.

시내 차도를 전면통제한 후 도보로 만들고 주변 상가도 오래도록 열려있고, 

푸드트럭 뿐만 아니라 빈티지자동차 전시, 밴드공연, 춤 공연 등 볼거리가 꽤나 있었다.

They block the roads during the hours and the shops stay open late. There were food trucks, antique cars, bands and dancing.

남편 친구들도 오랜만에 다같이 만나서 더욱 반가웠다. :D

영국에서 유학을 마치고 돌아온 일라이, 처음보는 얼굴인 스펜서 그리고 자주 만났던 에반까지 ㅋㅋ

It was nice meeting my husbands friends. 

Eli who finished studying in UK, Spencer that I met for the first time and Evan who we often met (compared to the others lol)

저녁을 먹지 않고 가서 이미 출출해진 상태였다. 

바베큐 트럭이 많이 보였는데 나는 특히 핫도그 "소세지"를 무척 좋아해서 핫도그도 같이 파는 곳에서 저녁을 먹기로 했다.

완전 바삭하고 육즙이 살아있어서 너무너무 맛있었다. :D

심지어 행사장 푸드트럭에서는 비싸게 파는 게 보통인데, 가격도 매우 합리적이었다.

We didn't have supper, so we were hungry by then.

There were many BBQ trucks. I wanted a hot dog. 

So we went to this food truck that sold hamburgers, hot dogs and fried potatoes!

The hot dog was so juicy, and it grilled well. It was so good.

남편과 일라이는 비비큐 가게 옆에서 루트비어를 샀는데 맥주가 아니란 사실을 처음 알았다.

루트비어 위에 아이스플로트라고 아이스크림을 띄워준다.

시어머니가 루트비어 맛 없다고 귀뜸해주셨는데, 처음 맛을 볼 때 아이스크림 때문에 루트비어까지 맛있게 느껴졌지만 

그 후 아이스크림 없이 음료 맛만 보니 매우.. 독특한 맛이었다. 뭔가 형용할 수 없는 그런 맛. 화장품 맛 같기도하고 감기약 맛 같기도 하고 이상하다.

Eli and my husband bought root beer floats next door. 

I was told that root beer is not a beer! They put ice cream in the soda.

My mother in law told me that the taste was not good but when I first tasted it, it was pretty good.

I took a big sip of the soda itself, I found it not very good. It tasted like.. cosmetic? medicine? something like that.

미국문화 중 정말 본받고 싶은 문화는 바로 나이가 지긋한 분들도 본인들 하고 싶은 일들을 하고 나이 때문에 꿈을 포기하지 않는 다는 것이다.

거리에서 멋진 색소폰 소리가 들려 보니 노년의 어르신 밴드였던 것이다.

My favorite american culture is about seniors, the elderly. 

They still seek for their dreams and don't give up because of their age.

뜨거운 햇살 아래서 어찌나 열정적으로 연주하시는지 그 모습이 너무 멋있고 마음이 벅차올랐다.

한국은 경쟁이 치열하다보니 나이 한살 한살들어가는 거에 많은 제약이 있고, 

어르신 밴드를 본 적이 거의 없는 듯하여 한편으론 또 마음이 너무 아팠다.

일라이는 이 밴드 분들을 또 개인적으로 알아서 연주가 마친 뒤 인사하러 다녀왔다. 

I heard beautiful melody on the street and that was from the old men band!

How enthusiastic they were, they didn't mind of the hot weather. It was very impressive.

Korea is so competitive that the older you are the more limits there are. I don't think I've ever met elderly bands in Korea.

Anyway, Eli knew the people and went to say hi. :)

시아빠는 자동차에 관심이 엄청 많아서 전시된 빈티지 자동차들을 유심히 살펴보셨다.

나는 차에는 문외한에 그냥 외관이 이쁘면 다인 사람이라서 ㅎㅎ

My father in law is a big fan of cars. He looked into each of the vintage cars :)

I don't know about cars. All I care about is how pretty they look lol.

혁명군 옷에 미국국기를 들고 돌아다니시는 분이 있었는데 시엄마가 사진 같이 찍어보라고 해주셔서 찍었다.

모자가 너무 커서 내 머리를 한번 치셨는데 그게 또 너무 웃겼다. ㅋㅋ

There was a guy who costumed like a revolutionary soldier ? with an american flag. 

My mother in law suggested that I take pictures with him.

His hat was so big that he hit my head by the head. It was funny.

늦게까지 열려있는 상점에도 들어가 구경했다.

We walked into this store and looked around it.

내가 가지고 싶은 목화 가지도 팔았는데 9달러나 되는 가격이라 그냥 집에서 목화를 직접 키우기로 했다;

There were cotton branches that cost 9$ so I just decided to grow cotton instead;

거리에서 자유롭게 춤을 추는 분들도 계셨고, 그 중 한 분이 스펜서에게 다가와 어떻게 추는지 알려주셨다.

그걸 바로 습득하는 춤 신동 스펜서??

There were people dancing. One of them came to Spencer and taught him how to dance.

He learned so quick. Genius?

이제 해가 오래 뜨기도 하고 본격적인 여름이 온 것 같다. 햇살이 너무 따가웠고 온도도 너무 높았는데 긴팔이 웬말인지.

I think summer has come. It was so hot and sunny especially when I was wearing long sleeve shirt -_-a

그래도 처음으로 개즈든 시내 구경도 해보고, 밴드 연주도 감상하고 여러 사람들이 모여 축제 분위기를 즐길 수 있어서 정말 좋았다.

앨라배마 개즈든 근처 지역주민이라면 한번쯤 가봐도 좋을 축제였다.

But still it was so fun to look around downtown gadsden for the first time, listening to the bands and the exciting atmosphere!

If you live near Gadsden, you should go look at least once :D
