Lowe's Garden Center :: 미국 가드닝 로우스 쇼핑 (극락조 키우기)

그동안 뒷마당에서 텃밭채소를 길렀다면 요즘의 내 관심사는 플랜테리어(Plant+Interior) 즉 식물인테리어로 옮겨왔다.

아마존에서 실내용으로 키울만한 나무를 고르고 있었는데 남편이 배송 문제도 그렇고, 직접 가서 보고 사는 게 어떠냐는 말에

식물을 좋아라 하는 나로서는 당연히 "좋아!" 하고 달려온 곳, LOWE'S의 가드닝 센터에는 열대식물과 여름 꽃들이 많이 있었다.

I'm interested in Planterior (Plant+Interior) which means decorating rooms with plants.

I was choosing indoors trees on Amazon.

Skylar suggested go to Lowe's and see them in person.

We went to Lowe's right away and there were lots of tropical plants and summer flowers.

사실 사람들이 자주가는 일상적인 마트에 카메라를 들고 가는게 조금은 생경하게 보이는 만큼

카메라로 찍기가 조금 민망해서 진짜 마음에 드는 꽃들만 담아왔다.

It might seem weird to take pics with a professional camera at a local market.

(So I was kind of embarrassed to take pics at LOWE'S lol.)

So I only took photos when I found real pretty ones.

한국의 국화 무궁화랑 같은 과인 히비스커스. 이 색깔이 무궁화랑 가장 닮은 듯.

This flower is Hibiscus.

Mu Gung Hwa which is the national flower of Korea is a Hibiscus and it has similar colors to this one.

왼쪽 꽃 이름은 모르겠다. 색깔이 엄청 강렬해서 눈을 사로잡았음.

오른쪽은 마찬가지로 히비스커스인듯.

I didn't check the left flower's name. That one caught the eye.

Right one is also a hibiscus I believe.

이렇게 큰 나무들 사이에 존재감 표출하며 펴있는 꽃

The coral flower was outstanding in trees.

야외 가드닝센터에 판매되고 있는 식물 가짓수만 해도 어마어마하다.

There were so many plants at the outside of LOWE'S.

하와이에 가지 않고도 플러메리아를 볼 수 있을 거라곤 생각도 못했는데 LOWE'S에서 판매되고 있었다.

I didn't expect to see a Plumeria without going to Hawaii!

I found them at LOWE'S...!!! 

향기가 좋기로 소문난 하와이 대표 꽃, 플러메리아.

몇몇 나무에 꽃이 피어있길래 냄새를 맡아봤는데 섬유유연제에서 많이 맡아본 익숙하고 친근한 꽃향이다.

꽃도 얼마나 귀여운지 정말 가지고 싶었지만 22달러라는 가격의 압박 ㅠㅠ

Hawaii's flower, Plumeria is famous for its scent.

There were a few flowers and I tried smelling them.

It smelled very familar like from dry cleaning sheets.

How cute the flower looked that I wanted one but it was too expensive. (22$)

내가 알기론 이 꽃 이름은 란타나인듯.

라임향이 난다고 하는데, 향기나는 꽃인지 모르고 냄새는 안맡아봐서 모르겠다.

한 꽃대에서도 그라데이션마냥 꽃색깔이 다른게 특징

This flower's name is Lantana. 

Oh I thought 'that one looks sort of like a verbena', it turned out to be true!

I heard that it smells like lime. 

I didn't know that would have a scent so I didn't smell it.

Their colors are all different like gradation.

굉장히 독특한 모양의 꽃. 가까이서 보면 마치 박테리아 세포를 현미경으로 들여다본 듯한 신비감(?)이 들기까지 함.

Weird looking flower. It almost looked like bacteria or cells through a microscope. 

다육이들. 얼마전에 ALDI에서 다육이 세일로 2달러 주고 데려왔는데 하나는 지금 죽어가고 있음 ㅠㅜ

Succulents. I bought some succulents at Aldi at a cheap price. One of them is dying...

잎사귀 끝인지, 꽃인지는 모르겠지만 색깔이 다른 게 너무 신기했다.

I'm not sure if the orange parts are flowers or leaves.

They are different colors from the leave's with the same looks.

아가팬서스라는 꽃이라고 한다.

This one is Agapanthus.

같은 꽃인줄 알았는데 다른가보다. 이 꽃 사진을 레딧에서 본 적 있는데 실제로 보니 더 예뻤다.

I thought they were the same kind. Maybe not. I saw a photo of them on Reddit. They looked prettier in person.

Lacey Blue Russian Sage

이 식물도 진짜 집에 데려오고 싶었는데...

미니 라벤더같은 외향에 작은 꽃, 흔하지 않은 보라빛 색상의 꽃이다.

I really wanted this one too.

It looked like a mini lavender with a unique purple color. 

왼쪽 꽃은 들꽃같아 보이는데 색깔이 또 예뻐서 찍어봄.

알로에를 염색한 건 또 처음봤다. 'ㅅ'a

Left one looked like a wild flower.

I had never seen dyed Aloes. 

Bird of Paradise

꽃구경 삼매경에 한참 빠져있다가 '아 우리 여기 나무사려고 온 거였지' 뒤늦은 깨달음 ㅋㅋㅋ

한국에서 플랜테리아 대표격 식물로 극락조가 매우 유행인데 여기 LOWE'S에서도 비교적 저렴한 가격으로 판매되고 있었다.

근데 사람들이 많이 찾지 않는지 대충 쑤셔 박혀있어서 잎들이 찢어지고 말려있고 난리났다.

By the time I was so into looking at flowers, I realized why we came here in the first place.

We found Bird of paradise, a tropical plant at LOWE'S.

This is a very popular indoor plant in Korea.

It was quiet cheap here and they didn't seem to have had a good care.

The leaves were torn and curled up which means a lack of water.

그 중 하나 골라서 토분이랑 자갈까지 사고 집에 돌아왔는데 식물하나 들였다고 집안이 환해지는 효과가 있었다.

극락조는 과습이 절대금물이라서 첫날 손 벌벌 떨면서 물을 거의 주니 안주니 싶을 정도로 줬더니 얘가 목말라 죽을려고 했다 ㅠㅠ

처음 분갈이 해줄 때에는 진짜 샤워기로 폭풍샤워 시켜줄 정도로 많이 줘도 상관없는 것 같았다.

(건조한 흑 상태 + 물빠짐이 좋다는 가정 하에)

I tried to pick the best one, we bought a clay pot and gravels.

This plant made our house much more lively.

Bird of Paradise shouldn't be watered too much.

I was so afraid to water it on the first day and the plant was dying of thirst.

I think you can pour a lot of water after transplanting.

지금은 우리 거실 한 칸을 차지하고 있는 반려식물 극락조.

극락조 이름의 유래는 바로 그 꽃에 있는데, 그 모양이 마치 새 같아서 붙여진 이름.

Now it's placed in our living room.

It was named by its flower's appearance.

Their flowers look alike a bird. (they look very interesting)

잘 관리해서 꽃도 피우게 끔 관리해야지!

I wanna take a good care of this and make it bloom.
