힘겹게 하산을 하고 주차장에 돌아와 부랴부랴 캠핑의자를 챙겨 조각상 광장으로 향했다.

We managed to walk down all the way the mountain and came back to the parking lot.

We took our folding chairs and hurried to the square.

아직 레이져 쇼 시작까지는 2시간 여 남은 시간이었지만

그새 광장은 사람들로 북적북적였다.

It was 2 hours ahead of the laser show but the lawn was almost full with visitors.

※ 스톤마운틴에서 가장 큰 볼거리로 꼽히는 레이져쇼는 4월부터 10월 21일까지만 운영된다고 한다.

아이들은 레이져 칼 장난감과 비누방울 총 사기에 혈안이었다.

Kids were busy buying laser swords and bubbles.

힘겨운 산행 덕분에(?) 땀으로 절은 우리 둘

We were so sweaty because of the climbing.

사람들은 점점 많아졌고, 레이져 쇼에 앞서 진행자가 나와 댄스타임을 진행했다.

사람들은 음악에 맞춰서 흥겹게 춤 추고 즐겼지만, 우리는 의자에 앉아 쉬기 바빴다;;

More and more people came to the park.

MC led a dancing time till the laser show.

People enjoyed shaking and moving their bodies while we were exhausted sitting on the chairs.

 

신기한게 진행자와 스크린에 따라 아이들의 장난감 검의 색깔이 바뀌더라는.

The swords changed colors by the MC and the screen.

예상치 못한 지연이 있었지만,

어찌됐든 오랜 기다림 끝에 시작된 레이져 쇼.

There was a delay. After long waiting, finally the show started.

현란한 레이져 불빛들과 함께 시작된 레이져 쇼는 관중들의 눈을 사로잡았다.

The colorful laser lights caught the eye of the audience.

때에 따라 레이져 쇼 중간 중간 불꽃을 터뜨리거나 화염을 내뿜기도 해서 볼거리를 더욱 풍성하게 만들었다.

개인적으로 흥미로웠던 것은 아무래도 역사적인 조각상에서 이뤄지는 공연인만큼

레이져쇼에서도 미국 <남북전쟁>은 빼놓지 못하고 다루는 주제였다.

조지아 주는 미국 남부에 속하는 관계상, 저 세 장군들에 대해 긍정적으로 다루는 한편

애틀랜타는 다인종이 모여살고 특히 흑인들이 많이 사는 대도시이기에

이 에피소드 다음으로 "우리의 진정한 영웅들" 주제를 선보이며 마틴루터킹 및 흑인 영웅들에 대해 다루는 것도 잊지 않았다.

몇몇 백인들은 저 세 인물을 다룬 영상이 마치자 마자 환호하고 박수치는 약간 눈치없는 행동을 하기도 해서 조금 당황스럽기도 했지만,

굉장히 예민한 주제에 대해 다루는 만큼 스톤마운틴이 이 역사에 대해 다루는 태도도 무척 흥미로웠다.

 <남부 영웅들도 인정할거니까 흑인 영웅들도 함께 보여줄게>라는 태도는 과연 올바른 가에 대한 생각도 하게 되었다.

Since the show was at the monument, story about civil war couldn't be skipped.

Because Georgia is in South, they couldn't took a stand against the confederate army.

But Atlanta is one of diverse cities, specially there are a lot of African-Americans there,

the laser show talked about "Real Heroes" such as Martin Louther King right after the story about Civil war.

Some white people applauded to the three commanders as soon as the Civil war episode, and it seemed quite awkward to me.

This history is so sensitive that it was interesting for me to see how this laser show put it.

It made me wonder if how they described the history was accurate though.

드론이 나오는 레이져 쇼도 있었는데 현란하게 움직이나 했더니 아직 그 단계까지는 발전하지 못했나보다. ㅋㅋㅋ

In the show, they used some drones but the skills were beginners.

또 하나 계속해서 강조했던 거는 레이져 쇼 다음으로 이어지는 불꽃놀이가 노동자의 날을 맞아

연장 운영될 예정이니 꼭 보고 가라는 메세지였다.

They kept stressing that we should stay for extended fireworks for Labor day :)

레이져 쇼도 생각보다 길었는데 "연장된" 불꽃놀이는 얼마나 길지 가늠도 안되었다.

실제로 우리가 채터누가에서 봤던 불꽃놀이의 3배 정도 더 길고 훨씬 훨씬 더 웅장한 불꽃놀이었다.

아쉽게도 카메라 배터리가 다 되어서 정말 멋젼던 불꽃놀이를 동영상에 많이 담지는 못했지만,

스톤마운틴에 레이져쇼와 불꽃놀이만 보러 와도 될 정도로 값어치있었던 구경거리였다.

Even the laser show was pretty long, I couldn't imagined how long the "Extended" fireworks would be.

Actually, the fireworks were about 3 times longer than Chattanooga's.

My battery died so I couldn't film more of the amazing fireworks.

Even if you come to Stone Mountain for laser show and fireworks, I'm sure it's worth it.
