Moonshine Sampling at Sugarlands
개틀린버그 여행 필수코스 문샤인 체험, 슈가랜드
문샤인은 면허없이 밤에 몰래 담근 증류주라 하여 붙어진 이름이다.
개틀린버그는 문샤인으로 매우 유명한데 스카일러가 이번 여행에서 가장 고대했던 경험이었다.
Moonshine is high-proof distilled spirits produced illicitly without government authorization.
this clear, unaged whiskey was named moonshine because the distillation was done at night to avoid discovery.
Skylar was looking forward to sampling moonshine so much.
문샤인 체험하는 곳이 여러 곳 있지만 우리는 슈가랜드로 결정했다.
마침 우리 숙소와 아주 가까이 있었다.
There were many moonshine places, Skylar picked Sugarlands.
It was so close to our motel.
문샤인은 짝퉁? 위스키 같은 술인데
우리가 과일소주 즐겨 먹듯이, 요즘은 여러가지 향과 맛을 이용해 다양한 문샤인을 만들어내고 있었다.
These days they make all different kinds of flavored moonshine.
관광도시답게 들어가는 입구에 포토존이 마련되어 있었다.
There was a photo stand ready since Gatlinburg is a very popular tourist city.
문샤인 시음을 해볼 수 있는데 단돈 5달러(현금만 가능한 걸로 앎)로 9-10가지 문샤인을 체험해볼 수 있었다.
당연히 이 때 필요한 것은 신분증.
나는 저번 시부모님과 간 축제에서 문샤인 냄새를 정통으로 맡아버리고는 도저히 도전할 엄두가 안났다.
그래서 그냥 남편 체험하는 거 구경하기로 했다.
구경하기만 하면 신분증 안보여줘도 된다.
You can test moonshine for 5 dollars by cash.
They check I.D. of course.
I have smelled Moonshine at the fair with my parents in law and I was too afraid to taste it.
So I decided to watch my husband drink it.
나이 확인 후 손목에 문샤인 시음 띠를 둘러준다.
You have to put this band around the wrist for the sampling.
총 3 테이블이 있어서 요령껏 가서 자리 맡으면 된다.
그럼 바텐더가 시음하는 문샤인 맛과 향에 대해 설명해준다.
There were three tables so you have to choose the right one :)
Bartender explains the flavors and tastes.
이렇게 다양한 향의 문샤인이 있을 줄이야~

문샤인 체험할 생각에 신이 나 어쩔 줄 모르는 스카일러
Skylar got so excited.

It started with a pure moonshine.
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 당혹스럽게 강한 알코올에 고통스러워하는 스카일러
He got taken aback by the strong taste.
이후 맛과 향이 첨가된 문샤인 시음하기
and the tastes went better and less strong.
몇몇 문샤인은 냄새가 정말 괜찮았다.
당연히 도수도 낮아졌는데 그래서인지 더 맛있게 느껴지더랜다.
Some kinds of moonshine smelled nice.
He thought some of them tasted good.
돌아가며 원샷샷
Everybody took turns.
냄새 맡고 바로 쮹쮹쮹
Chug Chug lol
피넛버터 맛, 복숭아 맛도 꽤 괜찮았다고 한다.
나는 옆에서 냄새만 맡아봤는데 그럴 듯 했음
He said penut butter and peach one were not bad.
I could tell that by the smells.
마지막 샘플링때 웃긴게 다같이 미국을 외친다. ㅋㅋ
다시한번 느끼지만 미국인들 애국심한번 대단하다.
At last sampling, the bartender had people shout "USA"
I always think Americans are very patriotic.
스카일러의 픽, 오렌지 문샤인!
냄새도 굿, 너무 강하지도 않은 맛에 샘플링을 마치고 구매할까 생각해 봄
Skylar's favorite was orange flavored moonshine.
He was thinking about buying one jar for a second.
문샤인 사도 된다고 했는데 남편은 괜찮다며 사기 아깝다고 그런다 -_-a
I told him to get one but he didn't

결제하는 줄이 아주 길었다.
시음을 통해 사람들 기분도 업 시키고 구매로 이어지게 하는 아주 강력한 마케팅(?)의 현장이었다.
시음 후 구매 시에는 샘플링 비용으로 냈던 5달러를 할인해준다.
The line was long.
I thought sampling is a smart marketing strategy.
Making people drunk can lead to purchasing in hyper mood.
If you buy something then you get a 5 dollar discount which you paid for sampling.
문샤인 체험 후 북적이는 다운타운을 구경하러 가봤다.
We decided to look around the town more.
뒤에 청년이 남편 브이를 따라서 해줘서 나도 모르게 빵 터져버렸다. ㅋㅋ
The guy behind Skylar made a V and it made me laugh out loud.
역시나 흑곰과 함께
With a black bear
뒤로 쭉 들어오면 밴드 공연이 있다.
There was a performance stage behind the bear.
이 장르는 블루그래스라고 한다. 연주하기 어렵다고 함.
할아버지도 엄청 열정적으로 춤 추심.
This genre is blue grass. Skylar told me blue grass songs are very hard to play.
The old guy enjoyed dancing. clogging?
이미 난 차 안에서 감자샐러드를 먹어서
스카일러도 간단히 저녁을 떼우려고 파이브가이즈로 향했다.
I already had potato salad for dinner in the car,
Skylar wanted a five guys hamburger.
다른 지점에 비해 3달러씩 높은 가격이었지만 파이브가이즈 햄버거는 늘 옳다 bb
남편은 포장해서 숙소에 가서 편하게 먹었다. :)
The hamburgers were 3 times more expensive than other branches'
Skylar got it to go and ate it at the motel :)
