미국 마당 가드닝 수레 화단 Wagon Flower Bed 백합, 수국, 데이지, 란타나 키우기

작게나마 단정하게 화단을 꾸리고 싶었다. 그래서 알아보게 된게 플라워베드였고 이베이에서 검색했을 때 우연찮게 발견한게 바로 수레 화단이었다. 빈티지한 디자인이 너무 멋스러워보였고 뒷마당에 두고 꽃을 감상하기에도 좋을 것 같아서 48$를 주고 샀다. 나무로 되어있고 크기는 116*42*38 cm 로 작지 않아서 더 좋았다.

I wanted to have a small and simple flower bed in my back yard. So I was looking for flower beds on Ebay and found this wagon flower bed. It looks vintage and I thought it would look pretty with flowers in it. It costed 48$. It's a wooden wagon and the size is 46"x16.6"x15".

식물 살 때마다 들르는 로우에 가서 미니 장미가 있는지 살펴보았다. 로우에는 미니 장미는 없고 큰 장미들만 있어서 내 수레에 담기에는 무리여서 포기했다 ㅠㅠ 대신 씨앗들을 잔뜩 샀다. 메리골드, 팬지, 샤스타 데이지, 물망초, 루드베키아(블랙아이드수잔)이랑 라벤더!

I always go to Lowe's for plants. We looked for mini roses for the wagon. They only sold big roses so I had to give up on growing mini roses. but I bought many flower seeds which are Marigold, Viola, Shasta Daisy, Forget me not, Rudbeckia and Lavender.

알디에서 산 씨앗 인큐베이터. 설명서대로 따라서 물을 먼저 부어주고 씨앗을 넣어줬다. 그런다음 잘 흔들어서 물이 스며들게끔 해준다.

그럼 배양토가 순대처럼 부풀어 오른다. 따뜻한 곳에 두래서 컴퓨터 본체 위에 뚜껑 덮어서 올려놓았다.

This is a greenhouse kit. I poured some water and gently moved the pot so it would absorb the water, it got bigger! and then I put the seeds into each soil and placed the thing on the computer to keep the soil warm.

퇴근하고 급 백합이 사고 싶어서 그 다음 날 다시 찾아간 로우스! ㅋㅋ 바깥에 백합이 있긴 했는데 내가 원하는 색상이 아니었다. 난 하얀색 백합을 원했는데 노란색이나 호랑이 무늬 나리밖에 없어서 아쉬워 하고 있다가 실내에 들어갔더니 이스터 백합이라고 흰색 나팔백합을 8달러에 팔고 있었다!!! 퀄리티나 양에 비해 아주 저렴한 가격이었다. 결국 이스터 백합, 데이지, 란타나, 수국을 집어왔다.

We visited Lowe's again after work for lily. There were some lilies outside but the colors weren't what I was looking for. I wanted white lilies. So I told Skylar to go inside of the building to see if they have some more lilies. He said "I doubt it.". When we went inside, there were white lilies named Easter Lily. ㅡ_ㅡ+ The price was reasonable as well. So I bought the lily, daisy, lantana and hydrangea. 

잉글리시 데이지로 불리는 이 꽃은 흰색과 핑크색이 오묘하게 섞인 모습이 너무 앙증맞았다.

This daisy is English Daisy. I liked the gradation of pink and white.

란타나는 아직 꽃이 피지 않은 걸로 골라 데려왔다. 온도만 맞으면 4계절 내내 꽃이 피는데다가 작년에 처음 가드닝 시작할 때 키웠던 버베나랑 비슷해서 키워보고 싶었다. 분홍과 노랑이 섞인 매력적인 꽃이다. 검은 열매에 독성을 가지고 있다니 그 점을 유의해야겠다.

And the flowers next to the daisy are Lantana. It's a different version of Verbena. Verbena was my first flower when I started gardening. So I wanted to have some flowers similar to it. Lantana can bloom in every season if the temperature is right. It has black fruits and it has poison too! 

이 날도 어김없이 로우스 옆 알디에 잠깐 들렀다가 발견한 수국. 마침 주간 행사로 저렴하게 나온데다가 행사 시작 전날이라 다음날을 위해 재고를 매대에 꺼내놓은 걸 살 수 있어서 운좋게 가장 좋은 퀄리티의 수국을 사올 수 있었다.

I found this hydrangea at ALDI. They were putting out some items for weekly sale that started the next day. So there were many good hydrangeas! 

그렇게 하루가 지나 드디어 기다리고 기다리던 수레 화단이 도착했다.

And the sunset was beautiful :)

스카일러가 내일 조립하자고 하는 걸 난 맘 먹으면 바로 해야하는 성격이라 그냥 내가 거의 다 조립했다. ㅋ

원래는 화분을 넣어 사용하는 용도라서 나무 사이에 빈 틈이 있다. 쓰레기 봉투 하나 꺼내서 가위로 구멍을 마구 낸 다음 바닥에 깔았다.

Next day I got the flower bed. Skylar tried to convince me to build it tomorrow, I just did it most of it by myself.

It has gaps between boards because the bed is for pots in it. I spread a trash bag on the bottom after I made many little holes with scissors. 

내가 샀던 지렁이 분변토라 믿었던게 알고보니 지렁이 분변 사료(?)라서 정해진 비율에 따라 흙과 섞어 사용하라는 것이었다.

흙이 없어서 그냥 기존에 가지고 있던 흙에다가 사료를 섞어서 급하게 화단을 채워주었다.

The soil I ordered from Amazon was not a soil but fertilizer. It was supposed to be mixed with some normal soil -_-.

So I mixed the earthworm casting fertilizer with the oldest soil I had and filled the flower bed.

다음날 아침 수레 화단의 모습. 저 빈 공간에는 물망초, 메리골드 등을 추가로 심어줄 예정이다.

This was how it looked this morning. I'm going to plant more flowers in the empty spots such as forget-met-not and marigold.

아직까지 푸릇푸릇하니 상태가 좋아보이는 식물들. 잘 적응했으면 좋겠다!

They seem fresh and fine so far. I hope they like the new pot.

집 안에 들어와 혹시나 싶어 씨앗 인큐베이터를 확인해보니 메리골드가 벌써!! 새싹을 내주었다.

다른 종류 꽃 새싹이 올라오면 옮겨 심어주어야겠다. :)

I came back into my house, checked the greenhouse kit. Marigold was already sprouting!!

When another kind of flower sprouts, I'm going to move them into the flower bed.
