Myriam's Airbnb in Grindelwald

체르마트에서 그린델발트로 기차로 이동할 때 2번의 환승이 필요하다. 한번은 Visp 역에서 또 한번은 Spiez 역에서다. 그래서 그린델발트까지 약 3시간 정도 소요된다. 우리는 애초에 스위스에 7일 묵을 계획이어서 스위스패스 8일권 2등석용을 구입했는데 하루가 날라가버렸지만 하루를 날려버린 미국-스위스 입국기 후기(클릭) 그럼에도 정말 저렴하게 구입할 수 있었다. 우리가 스위스패스를 구매한 곳은 클룩 Klook 이라는 어플/웹사이트이고 스위스패스에 쿠폰코드를 입력하면 11% 할인받았던데다가 (지금은 종료된 것 같다.) 미국 신용카드로 한국 원-미국 달러로 결제함으로써 환율 차익도 볼 수 있었다. 미국-스위스프랑으로 스위스패스 공식홈페이지에서 8일권 2등석을 구매할 경우 1인당 대략 418 CHF(413.51 USD)이 들지만, 우리가 구매한 방식으로는 쿠폰 적용시 422,661원(353.77 USD) 이렇게 구매해서 티켓 2장에 10만원이 넘는 돈(119.48 USD)을 줄일 수 있었다.
It takes 2 transfers to get to Grindelwald from Zermatt by Train. One of them is at Visp station and the other one is Spiez Station. It takes total about 3 hours. We were supposed to spend 7 nights in Switzerland so I bought 8 day Swisspass (All-in-one Swiss transportation ticket) We missed our original flight so we eventually spent only 7 days in Switzerland but the ticket was still worth it. Especially how I purchased the tickets, I saved about $119.48 dollars total for 2 tickets. I bought them from this Korean traveling website 'Klook', they offered a 11% discount coupon for Swisspass. And it's a lot cheaper to exchange USD to Korean Won instead of USD to Swiss Franc (Because of the exchange rates.) So If I bought the ticket on the Swisspass official website, it could have taken 413.51 USD per ticket, by buying them from the Korean traveling website, It took only 353.77 USD for one ticket with the coupon.
그린델발트로 향하는 길 To Grindelwald
스피츠 역에서 갈아타 그린델발트로 향하는 길에 인터라켄 호수들은 정말 아름다웠다. 스피츠역에서 그린델발트까지 가는 기차 열차칸을 잘 확인해야했었는데, 목적지가 그린델발트란 말에 그냥 가겠거니 했지만 군더스반(Gündlischwand)역에서 둘로 쪼개져 반절은 라우터브루넨, 그 다른 반절의 열차칸은 그린델발트로 가는 지 몰랐다. 그래서 라우터브루넨까지 갔다가 군더스반(?) 역에서 다시 환승을 해야하는 번거로운 일도 있었다.
From Spiez to Grindelwald, you get to see those beautiful lakes in Interaken. We should have known sometimes trains split in half and go to different directions. Our case was like that. The train said the destination was to Grindelwald. But it depended on which part of compartments you were in. Half of them headed to Grindelwald and the other half went to Lauterbrunnen from the station Gündlischwand. So we happened to be at Lauterbrunnen and headed back to Gündlischwand to transfer to Grindelwald.

스위스는 대중교통도 잘 되어있을 뿐만 아니라 도로도 정말 잘 정비해뒀다. 다음에 스위스에 올 때에는 차를 렌트해서 스위스 구석 구석을 여행해보는 게 내 목표다. 아참, 스위스는 한국과 같이 km, g, L, ℃ 와 같은 단위를 쓰는 반면 미국은 완전히 다른 단위를 쓴다. 그래서 스카일러는 혼란스러웠던 반면(내가 미국에 처음 갔을 때 골치아팠던 단위 경험) 나는 신이났더랜다.
Not only Swiss public transportation is awesome, but also their roads are really well-managed. Next time I come to Switzerland, I would try renting a car to go to more rural places. Switzerland uses the same measurement units as Koreas' such as meter, kilo meter, gram, liter or Celsius for temperature degree. Skylar was confused for the whole time (just like what I experienced in the U.S. because of the different measure system), I was so excited to see them!

우리 에어비앤비 숙소 주인인 미리암의 시어머니인 로티가 우리를 배웅해주러 그린델발트 역에서 기다리고 있는데 길을 잘못 드는 바람에 의도치 않게 더 기다리시게 만들어버렸다.
Myriam(The owner of our airbnb)'s mother-in-law, Lotti was waiting on us to pick up at Grindelwald station, we unintentionally made her wait a bit longer since we went to wrong direction.
그린델발트 역 Grindelwald Station
그린델발트 역에 들어서자마자 높게 솟아있는 산들에 마음이 벅차올랐다. 스카일러는 체르마트의 혼자 돋보이는 마테호른도 좋았지만, 이렇게 웅장하게 큰 산들로 둘러쌓인 그린델발트가 더 마음에 든다고 했다. 5월의 그린델발트는 산 위로 갈 수록 여전히 눈이 쌓여있어서 흡사 겨울로 시간을 돌려놓은 것만 같은 착각이 들 정도였다.
Grindelwald's huge mountains were breathtaking. Skylar said he liked the solo outstanding peak, Matterhorn but he preferred those giant mountains that surround this village. The mountains in May still are snowy on the top, it was almost like turning back time to winter.

캐리어를 이용해 한껏 여행자임을 뽐내는 스카일러. 내 사진을 찍어주면서 나보고 캐리어 손잡이를 잡아야 여행자 태가 난다며 성심껏(?) 조언도 아끼지 않았다.
Skylar held his suitcase to show off himself as a fancy traveler. He even advised me to hold the suitcase handle just like him taking pictures of me later.
그린델발트 에어비앤비 미리암 숙소 Myriam's Airbnb in Grindelwald
미리암의 시어머니인 로티는 약속대로 기차 역에서 우리를 기다리고 있었다. 우리는 미국에서 왔다고 소개했고, 로티는 친절하게도 기차역에서 도보로 5분도 채 걸리지 않는 숙소로 데려다주기 위해 자동차를 끌고 나왔다.
Lotti, Myriam's mother-in-law was expecting us at the station. We introduced ourselves that we were from Alabama, in United States. She kindly drove us to her house that takes only 5 minutes by foot from the station.

미리암 숙소 맨 윗층은 시어머니인 로티가 지내고 있고 2층에 방이 2개가 있어 숙박객이 지내는 곳이다. 우리가 묵은 방은 이 사진 속에서 오른쪽 파라솔을 가운데 두고 왼쪽 칸막이가 있는 곳부터 오른쪽 발코니 끝까지 공간을 사용했다.

옆 샬레와 우리 숙소 가운데 오르막길 골목길로 올라가면 회색 철제문이 있는데 이 곳을 통해 우리 숙소를 드나들었다.
There was a hidden door on the side of our chalet. We went to our room using this door.
철제 문을 열고 들어가면 우리 숙소 / 다른 방 숙소로 가는 두개의 문이 더 있고, 이 곳이 우리 방 숙소문을 열면 보이는 현관이다. 옷걸이 아래 쪽에 신발을 벗도록 되어있다. 왜냐하면 미리암의 숙소는 한국처럼 바닥 난방이 된다!
When you walk in the house, this is the entrance of our room. You are supposed to take off your shoes here because this house warms the floor. The heating system is really similar to Korea. (How interesting!)
미리암 숙소의 숙박객들이 하나같이 자랑하는 것이 바로 청결도이다. 미리암의 숙소는 정말이지 깨끗해서 우리가 4박 동안 묶는 곳에 제격이었다. 스위스는 변기가 다 저렇게 생겼다. 변기 레버가 없고 벽에 스위치가 달려있는데 스위치를 누르면 얼마나 많은 양의 물이 변기로 쏟아지는지, 스위스는 물 부족 국가와는 가장 거리가 멀 것이라고 생각했다.
Every Guest of Myriam's Airbnbs compliments on how clean her houses are. We couldn't find any better place than hers' to spend 4 nights at. Swiss toilets are all like that. They don't have a toilet handle but switches on the wall. How much of water they dump into a toilet, I thought Switzerland must have the most water in the world.
복도를 통과해 나오면 두명이 쓰기에 충분히 넓은 부엌과 거실이 보인다. 새로 리모델링을 한건지 모든게 정말 새것처럼 잘 관리되어 있었다.
You see a big living room and kitchen area as you walk through the hallway. They must have remolded this chalet. Everything looked clean and new.

베란다로 나오면 보이는 뷰는 이렇다. 앞에 거대한 샬레가 아이거 산을 가리고 있어서 100% 만족스러운 뷰라고는 말할 수 없지만 이 샬레에 오른쪽 다른 방에 묵으면 더 괜찮은 뷰를 얻을 수 있다. 발코니가 침실과도 연결되어 있어서 꽤 넓었고 이 가격에 청결도 및 역과의 거리까지 감안한다면 괜찮은 뷰임에는 분명하다.
This is view from the balcony. The big chalet in front of ours blocks the view of the Mt. Eiger. I can't say I was 100% happy with the view. If you stay in the other room on this floor, you get a better view because it's farther from the big chalet. The balcony is connected to the bedroom, so balcony was pretty big. But if you think about the price, cleanness and the distance from the station, this view is really nice for all of that.
침실도 깔끔하게 정돈되어 있어서 이 곳에서 숙박하기 정말 다행이었다. 스카일러도 좋은 숙소를 골랐다고 말했다. 미리암 숙소는 그린델발트에 이 곳을 포함하여 3곳이 있는 것으로 알고 있는데 모두 다 인기가 많아 예약하기가 쉽지 않았다. 다행이 이 곳을 발견하고 예약할 수 있었고 총 4박에 600 달러, 그것과는 별도로 도시세는 대략 39 스위스 프랑이 나왔다. 처음 로티가 숙소를 소개시켜주면서 도시세를 계산해주고 현금으로 지불해달라고 요청한다. 그린델발트 쿱 빌딩에 ATM기가 있는데 그 곳에서 손쉽게 인출이 가능하다. 우리는 그래서 미국에서 하나도 스위스 프랑으로 환전해오지 않고도 별다른 문제가 없었다.
We were glad to stay at this chalet after all. Skylar was very happy about this place. Myriam has 3 airbnbs including this one in Grindelwald. All of them are so popular that it wasn't very easy for me to book this one. It took only 600 dollars for four nights and of course there was a city tax besides that. When Lotti showed us this place, she told us how much city tax for four nights we need to pay at check-out, and it was 39 CHF for 2 people & 4 nights. She wanted in cash as well. There was an ATM machine outside of the Coop building, it was really easy to withdraw money from it. We didn't exchange any money in the U.S., but we had no problem with it.
그린델발트 쿱으로! To Coop in Grindelwald
짐을 풀고 이제 본격적으로 기차역 근처에 있는 쿱으로 장을 보러 나갔다. 한국인이라면 누구나 스위스여행에서 해보는 일은 바로 바로 쿱에서 삼겹살 사서 샬레에서 구워 먹는 것!
We unpacked our suitcases and headed out to Coop near the train station. Every Korean traveler in Switzerland tries buying pork belly from Coop and cooking at their chalet.
우리 숙소에서 기차역까지 정말 도보로 5분 정도 걸린다. 심지어 캐리어가 없으니 훨씬 몸이 가벼웠다.
It was really 5 minutes far from our airbnb to the train station by foot. It was much better without suitcases as well.
아이거 북벽을 보니 사진을 안찍을래야 안찍을 수가 없다.
We couldn't stop taking pictures of the Mt. Eiger. It looked more amazing and huge in person.
잠깐의 포토타임을 갖고 다음 포스팅은 스위스 여행객이라면 누구나 한번쯤은 들리게 되는 쿱 이야기로 돌아올 예정이다.
We took some photos together. In next post, I am bringing a story about shopping at Coop where Travelers visit at least one time during their Switzerland trip.
