미국 개기일식 Solar Eclipse 2017

개기일식 관찰을 위해서는 특수하게 제작된 보호안경이 필요하다.

지난 주 Lowe's에 들려서 안경을 구입하려고 했으나, 이미 품절되었었다.

You need eclipse glasses to observe the solar eclipse.

We were going to buy two pairs at Lowe's last week but they were all sold out.

마침 스카일러 동료인 스캇에게 여분의 보호안경이 있었고 흔쾌히 사용하도록 해주었다.

Luckily Skylar's coworker Scott had extra pairs and he let us use them.

일식이 점점 다가오자 주변이 어두워졌고, 심지어 저녁이라고 착각한 귀뚜라미들이 울기도 했다.

우리 동네에서는 93프로 가려진 개기일식을 관찰할 수 있었다.

As the eclipse was going on, it was getting darker and darker.

Even crickets started crying because they thought it was night.

We could see a 93% eclipse in our town.

급격히 어두워진 주변 dark outside

일식 때문에 동네 학교는 모두 휴교했고, 뒷마당에서 아이들이 보호안경을 두고 말싸움을 하기도 했다.

All school were closed and some kids were fighting over the glasses in the backyard.

태양빛이 워낙 강렬한 탓에 그냥 렌즈 그대로 찍으면 빛이 많이 반사된다.

그래서 보호안경을 카메라 렌즈 앞에 두고 찍으면 딱 태양만 볼 수 있게 된다.

Since the sun is so bright, if you take pictures without UV protection then it reflects too much light around the sun.

So I put the eclipse glasses in front of the lens.

워낙 많은 빛을 차단해야하기 때문에 실내에서 보호안경을 끼면 아무 것도 안보인다.

새삼 햇빛이 얼마나 강렬한 지 깨달은 부분.

It blocks lots of light so you can't see anything through the glasses indoor.

일식이 빠르게 진행되었다. 

미국에서는 99년만에 오는 개기일식으로, 말 그대로 인생에 단 한번뿐인 구경인 셈.

Eclipse was happening pretty fast.

This eclipse was in 99 years so basically watching eclipse is an once in a lifetime experience.

그믐달 같이 보이지만, 그믐해(?)인 것으로...

It almost looked like a cresent moon.

개기일식 관찰 observing eclipse

일식이 정점에 이를 때 갑자기 엄청나게 많은 구름이 끼여서 거의 볼 수 없는 지경이었다. ㅠㅠ

줌렌즈도 아니기에 줌을 당겨서 볼 수도 없었지만 그나마(?) 건진 사진이 이 것.

Suddenly it got cloudy at the peak. We couldn't watch it well.

미국 전역이 일식으로 인해 한바탕 축제의 장이 된 것 같았다. :D

It was almost like a festival in the US.
