New York Central Park Bethesda Fountain

뉴욕 센트럴파크 베데스다 분수

뉴욕여행 이틀차, 아침 9시에 일어나서 뉴욕 센트럴파크로 향했다.

This was Day 2 of the trip. We woke up at 9 AM and headed to Central Park.

뉴욕 르네상스 호텔에서 버스를 타고 한 4정거장이면 도착할 수 있을 정도로 가까웠다.

The park was close enough from the hotel by bus. about four stops?

센트럴파크는 워낙 넓어서 3박4일 일정으로는 다 둘러보기에 무리였던지라,

우리는 센트럴파크에 위치한 베데스다분수를 보러 가기로 했다.

We couldn't look around all of central park on the short trip.

We decided to go to Bethesda Fountain.

버스에서 내려 센트럴파크 중심부로 걷다보니 발견한 센트럴파크 필그림 힐 혹은 컨서버토리 워터.

컨서버토리 워터는 그린스워드라는 플랜에 의해 열대식물원을 지을 계획이 있었지만, 그 계획이 무산되어졌다고 한다.

You can see Conservatory Water on the way to Bethesda fountain.

It was named for a glass-house for tropical plants in the original plan "Greensword" but was never built.

이 연못은 타원형으로 지어졌지만 이후 인공보트를 위한 연못 모양으로 바뀌었다고 한다.

The shape was oval and remade as a model boat pond later.

화창한 날씨아래 푸르른 나무들과 연못이 조화를 이루는 장소였다.

The place was harmoniousness of the weather and the green trees.

영화 『인턴』을 보면 공원에서 태극권을 하는 장면이 종종 나오는데,

이 분들도 센트럴파크에서 기체조같은 동작들을 하고 있었다.

There are some scenes of doing Tai Chi in the movie 'Intern'.

These people stretching reminded me of the scenes.

컨서버토리 워터를 지나 한 10분정도 천천히 걷다보면 만나게 되는 뉴욕 센트럴파크 베데스다 분수!

The fountain was about 10 minutes away from here.

베데스다 분수의 천사모형은 에마 스테븐스가 1868년에 디자인했는데

뉴욕시티 도시건설 분야에서 미적 부분을 담당하는 중대임무를 맡은 첫번째 여성이었다고 한다.

Bethesda fountain's statue was designed by Emma Stebbins in 1868.

She was the first woman to received the public commotion for major of art in New York City.

여기는 분수 바로 앞 베데스다 광장이다.

많은 관광객들이 있었고 여기에서도 마찬가지로 체조를 하는 분들이 꽤 있었다.

This is Bethesda Terrace.

There were many tourists and people who were stretching as well.

베데스다 분수 청동 여신상 앞에서 셀카 :D 

We took these selfies in front of the bronze female angel statue.

날씨가 화창했지만 바람이 꽤나 불어서 쌀쌀하기도 했다.

The day was sunny also windy. It was kind of chilly.

뉴욕 베데스다 광장에서는 뉴욕에서 가장 높은 빌딩의 아파트라던 432 .파크 애비뉴 빌딩이 보인다.

You can see 432 Park Ave, which is the tallest residential building in NYC at the terrace.

보트 타는 커플들도 볼 수 있었다.

There was a couple riding a boat.

베데스다 광장을 떠나 우리는 밸비디어 성으로 향했다.

We headed to Belvedere Castle.

걷던 중 만난 예쁜 다리.

거기에서 호수를 보면 햇빛이 반사되어 정말 아름다웠다.

From this small bridge, The lake looked beautiful with the reflection of the sunlight.

성으로 향하던 중 만난 청설모는 먹이를 찾아 땅을 파는데,

인기척이 있어도 아랑곳하지 않는다.

This squirrel didn't avoid people but focused on digging the ground for its food.

그리하여 도착한 벨비디어 성.

성이라 하기에는 엄청 큰 규모는 아니었지만,

전망대로써의 기능은 아주 충실한 듯 했다.

We got to the castle.

I wouldn't call this a "CASTLE", but it worked perfectly as an observatory.

성에 들어가면 기부금을 받는다.

우리 앞에 들어가신 나이 지긋한 어르신 분들도 개인당 5달러를 쾌척하시는 걸 보고 멋있다는 생각이 들었다.

They take donations.

The elderly group ahead of us donated 5 dollars per person willingly. 

That seemed very cool.

위로 올라가려면 거의 한번에 일방향만 가능한 아주 좁은 계단을 지나 올라와야 한다.

 여기가 2층이고 한층 더 올라갈 수 있다.

You have to take very narrow stairs upstairs.

This is the second floor and you can go up another floor.

여기가 성의 꼭대기 전망대 층이다.

This is the top floor for observation.

이 날 캐나다 퀘백에서 학생들이 수학여행을 와서 이 작은 성이 아죽 북새통이었다.

There were so many Canadian students in the castle that came to New york as a school trip.

친절하신 수학여행 인솔자 선생님께서 "사진 찍어드릴까요?" 물어보시길래

당연히 좋다고 하고 건진 우리 부부 사진이다 ^^

The teacher asked us if we wanted her to take a picture of us.

전망대 꼭대기 층에서 시원한 센트럴파크 뷰를 감상할 수 있다.

You can look down to central park here.

반대편 뷰도 감상하고 성을 떠나 점심을 먹으러 가기로 했다.

It was lunch time so we left the castle.

지하철을 타기 전에 본 자연사 박물관이다.

시간 관계로 둘러보지는 못했지만 다음 뉴욕 방문시에는 꼭 둘러볼 예정이다.

We saw American National museum of history.

We didn't have enough time for the museum but next time we will.
