한국에 5월 8일 어버이날이 있다면 미국에는 5월 14일에 마더스데이가 있다.

뉴욕여행을 가기 전부터 무슨 선물을 할까 고민을 많이하고 꿈까지 여러번 꿨을 정도였는데,

갑자기 번뜩하고 생각난 마더스데이 선물은 바로 러쉬 배쓰밤!

마침 호텔에서도 5블락만 걸으면 되는 곳에 있어서 낮잠 잔 뒤 걸어갔다 왔다.

There is mother's day on May 14th in America while There is parent's day on May 8th.

I dreamed about gifts several times even before the trip.

It sprung into my mind to get Lush's bath bombs!

The Lush was 5 blocks away from the hotel as well.

보통 서울 오피스텔은 욕조가 없다. 그래서 서울에 있을 때 러쉬매장은 자주 봤지만 러쉬배쓰밤은 한번도 시도해본 적이 없었다.

그래도 스파용품으로 가장 유명한 영국브랜드이고 몸에 좋은 성분들로 만들어서 선물로 적합하다 생각했다.

마침 러쉬 매장에 마더스데이 선물용 배쓰밤 뿐만 아니라 선물박스까지 있었는데 내가 원하는 조합이 아니었다.

그래서 나와 스카일러는 함께 배쓰밤을 고심하여 고르고 포장은 집에 가서 직접 해보기로 했다.

Usually studio apartments in Seoul don't have a bathtub.

That's why I didn't try their bath bombs, even though I passed by Lush stores many times in Seoul.

Lush is a popular British spa brand and they use only natural ingredients.

So I thought these would be a perfect gift!

They did have gift boxes in the shop but they were not combos that I expected.

Skylar and I picked good bath bombs together and decided to wrap them at home after the trip.

라이언킹을 보기 전 할랄가이즈에 들러 저녁을 간단히 먹으려고 했는데 하필이면 음식 준비 중이셔서

10분동안 기다리다가 라이언킹 뮤지컬 시간이 다 되어가서 포기했다.

그러다 라이언킹 뮤지컬 건물 옆에 주니어스를 발견하고 매장에 들어갔다.

We were going to grab Halal guys for dinner before the lion king.

Unfortunately, they were preparing the food.

We just went to this Junior's Bakery instead.

나는 꾸덕한 치즈케익 광팬인데 주니어스 치즈케익은 치즈케익으로 유명한 베이커리다.

여기서 플레인치즈케익 하나 사서 남편이랑 급히 나눠먹다가 체할 뻔 했다.

I am a big fan of cheesy cheese cakes. 

Junior's cheese cakes are known as the best cheese cakes!

We bought a piece of plain cheese cake here.

주니어스 테이블이 만석이라 길거리에서 급하게 헤치우고는 바로 옆 라이언킹 극장으로 향해 출발했다.

The tables were all taken so we had to stand up and eat it on the sidewalk ㅡ_ㅡ.

극장 내부가 너무 근사하다! 벌써부터 기대감에 부풀은 우리.

쭉 직진하면 표를 검사하는 분들이 계셔서 프린트한 티켓을 보여드리면 

왼쪽 에스컬레이터를 타라거나 오른쪽 에스컬레이터를 타라고 알려주신다.

The theater looked so decent! It rose our expectations. 

There are ticket checkers and they tell you which escalator to take.

라이언킹 볼 생각에 들뜬 남편님ㅎ

He was so excited.

대형 라이언킹 가면이 벽면에 전시되어 있다!

라이언킹 한 뮤지컬만 상영하는 극장인데 내부가 이렇게 크고 웅장하다.

분명 뮤지컬도 좋겠지 하는 기대감이 커져갔다.

실제 자리에 착석하기까지 2-3차례 더 티켓 검사가 있다.

Even though the lion king is the only one musical being shown in the theater,

the theater looked so clean, fancy, and big.

There were a couple of more times of getting our tickets checked.

극장 내 카메라 반입은 금지거나 따로 보관을 해야하는 걸로 알고 있어서

우리는 카메라를 호텔에 그냥 두고 왔다.

You are not supposed to bring cameras into the theater.

We just left ours in the hotel room.

자리에 착석할 때 이 팜플렛을 함께 받으면 라이언킹 관련 내용과 뮤지컬배우 이름들이 써져있다.

라이언킹은 가장자리 자리가 좋다고 그러는 이유가 배우들이 계단을 통해 출연하기 때문에

바로 옆에서 관람할 수 있다는 메리트가 있다. (그러나 나는 앞 줄 가운데를 추천)

처음 동물 복장을 입고 등장할 때 왜인지 모르게 눈물이 나더라.

나 나름 감성 메마른 여자인데도 말이다.

The usher led us to our seats and gave us those playbills.

There were names of the actors and stories about the lion king.

People usually recommend the side seats because the actors walk through the stairs to the stage.

So you can see their costumes very closely. (I'd recommend the front middle seats though)

I think I was so impressed by their costumes and somehow it moved me to tears. 

I hardly ever cry watching movies!

총 2부로 진행되는 라이언킹 뮤지컬인데,

예매할 때 두 좌석 가격이 총 350달러 정도 됐었다.

라이언킹 뮤지컬이 유명하고 호평이 자자하지만 이 정도 값어치는 될까 했는데

보고난 후 느낀점은 돈을 더 지불해서라도 더 가까이 좋은 자리에서 볼 걸 했다는 아쉬움이 남는다는 거다.

기대를 했음에도 그 기대를 뛰어넘는 뮤지컬이라니..?

There are two parts in the musical.

Our tickets costed about 350 dollars.

We were unsure if this musical would be worth that much or not.

After seeing the musical, we regretted not getting better seats.

What kind of musical can blow your mind when you have already looked forward to it so much?

내 자리 옆에 아주머니 두 분이 앉으셨는데 엄청난 수다쟁이분들이셨다.

비싼 돈 내고 뉴욕까지 와서 굉장한 뮤지컬을 보는데 관크라니요 T^T

뮤지컬 내내 "저거 눈물흘리는거야!" 라는 둥; 누가 모르나? 왜 생중계를 하냐고...

그래서 뭐라 할까 속으로 부글부글하다가 왜 굳이 내가 맘써서 예의바르게 경고해야하나 싶어서

그냥 나도 예의모르는 어린아이들 대하듯이 해줘야지 하고

아줌마들 향해서 검지손가락 내 입에 대고 "쉬~~~~~" 경고해졌더니

나를 처다보지 않으시더라. 부끄러우셨나보네. 그러더니 좀 조용해지더라. ㅡㅡ

There were two talkative ladies next to me.

Why would you wanna ruin the expensive musical after flying all the way to New York for that?!

They just chatted and reported what was going on on live like "Those are tears!"

It made me think about how to warn them politely 

and suddenly I thought 'why should I think about them when they were not?'

So I decided to treat them like uneducated kids.

I put my point finger on my lips.

They didn't take a look at me. I guess they were too embarrassed.

라이언킹 뮤지컬은 지금 와서 뉴욕여행을 돌이켜봐도 보길 잘했다고 생각한다.

진짜 최고의 뮤지컬이자 최고의 여행 경험이었다.

After this trip we cherished every memory.

The Lion king was one of the best experiences!

나의 평점은 ★★★★★+ 5점+ 강추강추

남편의 평점은 1000점 ㅋㅋ

Beyond ratings. Two thumbs up.

You must see this musical in person at least once in your life.

라이언킹 보고 호텔에 돌아가던 중 발견한 뉴욕 러브동상! 

기대하지 않았는데 가는 길에 발견해서 행운이었다.

저녁이라 그런지 사진을 찍는 사람이 거의 없어서 기다리지 않아도 됐다.

We found this Love Sculpture on the way back to the hotel!

We didn't expect it so we got so excited.

There were no people waiting to take pics with it!

우리 둘다 각각 전신사진 찍고 길었던 뉴욕여행 2일차 하루를 이렇게 마무리 했다.

We took pics with the sculpture and finished the second day.
