Whitney museum, Flat iron, Burger&Lobster

Whitney museum of American Art  Hours 10:30 - 6:00 | Tuesday closed  99 Gansevoort Street New York, NY 10014

셋째날 저녁, 온라인으로 휘트니뮤지엄 티켓을 구매했다.

하루 전 날까지 인터넷으로 티켓을 구입하면 약간의 할인을 받을 수 있다.

우리가 구입한 시간대는 11:30~12:00 이 30분 안에 도착해야만 한다.

/ On the third night, we bought tickets online for Whitney museum.

You can buy tickets online at a discount before the day you visit the museum.

We were supposed to be there between 11:30 and 12:00.

여유있게 나갔다고 생각했는데, 캣츠 뮤지컬 극장에 들러 내 모자를 되찾고는 지하철 상한선, 하한선 입구를 헷갈려 다른 방향 개찰구를 찍고 들어갔다.

다시 나와서 하한선 입구로 가서 지하철 패스를 찍었더니 중복이라면서 무려 18분을 기다려야 했다.

/ We thought we would make it. We stopped by Neil theater to find my lost hat.

We got lost in the wrong subway station the opposite direction. So we had to go out of the station and go across the street.

There was the right station. We couldn't use the same subway pass for 18 minutes. We were running out of time.

여차저차해서 도착하기야 했는데 우리 티켓 입장시간까지 단 1분만 남긴 상황!

웃기기도 하고 발도 아프기도 하고 부랴부랴 뛰어 들어가서 티켓 스캐너에 찍힌 시간은 바로 12:00 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

후, 한숨 돌렸다.

/ Eventually we arrived at the museum at 12:00. It was so funny being anxious and worried. :D

휘트니뮤지엄 맨 꼭대기층에 올라가서 한층한층 구경하며 내려오기로 했다.

/ We decided to look around the museum from the top floor.

야외 테라스, 카페가 있어서 뉴욕 뷰를 구경할 수 있다.

휘트니뮤지엄은 모마와는 다르게 로컬 방문객들이 훨씬 많다.

/ There was a big terrace and you can see this great view.

It seemed like there were more local visitors than travelers in this museum.

휘트니뮤지엄 바로 옆에는 그 유명한 하이랜드파크도 있다.

걷고 싶었는데 여행 마지막날 시간이 빠듯해서 차마 걷지 못한 공원이라 아쉬움이 남는다.

/ Highland park, which is a very popular park, was just next to Whitney museum!

We were planning to walk along the path but we didn't have enough time.

남편이 계속 뷰에 빠져 바깥 구경만 하길래 빨리 안에 들어가서 작품구경을 하자고 했다.

/ My husband was into the view so much so I told him to look at the paintings inside!

모마 박물관보다 훨씬 더 현대적이고 추상적인 작품들이 많이 전시되어 있다.

팝아트 작품, 키스해링의 작품들 뿐만 아니라 조형물 전시, 사진전 등 볼거리가 정말 다양하다.

/ The paintings are more modern and abstract than MOMA's paintings.

Pop art, Kieth harring's paintings, installation art, and photographs were exhibited.

관람분위기도 굉장히 정숙하고 작품에 집중할 수 있다.

/ The atmosphere was so calm and the visitors had good manners, so we could focus on the art better.

남편이 미국 국기 작품 앞에서 사진 찍어야 한다고 해서 'ㅁ'a

/ My husband insisted that I take a pic in front of this american flag painting.

우리 부부가 좋아했던 작품들. 색감이 너무 조화롭고 아름답다.

/ We liked these paintings the most. The colors are so beautiful together.

이 설치미술은 굉장히 독특했던게 거울을 이용해서 양쪽 반사판에 비친 물건들이 끊임없이 거울 안 거울 속에서 볼 수 있다는 것.

/ This installation art was so unique. The reflection of things on the left and right side goes on and on in the mirrors.

직접 작품 안에 들어가볼 수 있는 장소도 있다.

/ You can even go inside some works too.

1층에 위치한 휘트니 박물관 기념품 샵도 볼거리가 쏠쏠하다. 너무나 집중한 나머지 사진을 많이 찍지 못한 게 아쉽지만.

/ The gift shop on the first floor was neat. There were many things to get as souvenirs. 

It's a shame that I was so focused that I didn't take many pictures there:(

점심시간이 지나 배가 고파진 우리는 첼시 버거앤랍스타로 향했다.

/ Lunch time had already passed. We were so starving and we headed to Burger&Lobster in Chelsea.

관광객들로 붐비는 첼시마켓.

/ So many travelers and traffic.

사람이 너무 많아 어느 서버에게 우리를 배정할 지 카운터에서 한참을 고민하더니,

그 서버는 진짜 두명이서 앉기에도 비좁은 테이블로 안내했다.

/ It took a while for the cashiers to decide which server to assign,

Because every server had so many people already :(

The server led us to a very small and narrow table.

남편은 버거랍스타세트(그릴), 나는 랍스타세트(스팀)으로 주문

/ My husband ordered Burger & Grilled lobster combo. I got a steamed lobster.

랍스타 살이 엄청 부드러웠고 저 소스가 진짜 맛있더라.

서버는 팁 받으려 할때만 친절한 척(?)해서 음식 맛을 고사하더라도 다시는 찾아오지 않을 음식점.

/ The lobsters were so tender and the sauce was amazing.

But the server was being nice only when she handed us the check. 

I wouldn't visit there again even though the food was good.

버거앤랍스터에서 조금 걷다보면 플랫아이런이 있다고 해서 남편을 따라 아픈 발을 이끌고 걷기 시작.

/ My husband convinced me to see flat iron building when my feet were literally killing me.

나는 발이 아파서 남편이 대신 사진 찍어줬는데, 역시 유명한 데에는 이유가 있다. 납작한 형태의 빌딩이 정말 멋지다.

/ So he took these pictures. The flat building sure was magnificent though.

다음 목적지를 향해서 걷다가 스타벅스 미드나잇모카프라푸치노 샘플을 얻어온 남편.

둘이서 먹고 반해버렸다. 

/ He suddenly got a midnight mocha frappuchino sample by the Starbucks.

We fell in love with the flavor ♥.♥
